Neil Patrick Harris Clears Up Some Rumors

It took Neil Patrick Harris about 30 minutes to respond to a post on PopEater. From that I will take that he either reads gossip on the websites or someone close to him does because he reacted quickly. He also seemed a bit angry and I didn't think NPH could actually get angry.

The story on PopEater said that Neil was leaving Hollywood and quitting show business and moving to New York and going to become a full-time dad, and start to take baking classes, learn to sew, join the PTA and buy a Harold & Kumar mini-van with matching car seats to drive his new twins around.

Well, Neil took to his Twitter and said, "Rumor Watch 2010: I'm absolutely not leaving LA or the business. Errant reporting, Popeater. Total bunk. Oh, and good morning everyone!" 28 minutes ago via web

I like how he throws in that good morning but does anyone actually use the word bunk in that context anymore?

Ah, but he didn't de-bunk the matching car seat story. Me thinks that part may be true, LOL.

HA! I love "bunk", that's a word I haven't used in forever =) Love it!

Oh and, my last roomie is a good friend of Josh Radnor (NPH co-star on "How I Met Your Mother", in case you don't watch it) and she said that Josh told her that Neil is an awesome guy to work with and so much fun to be around on set, not a stuck-up 'self-entitled' bone in his body. Good to know =)

Miss Jenny, friends of mine in the business have said the same thing as well; NPH is a great guy and everyone, cast and crew, adore him! I think he'll make a wonderful parent!

"Bunk" just makes me think of The Wire. Oh Wire. I miss you.

Maybe PopEater was just trying to figure out if NPH is paying attention ;).

The last time I heard "bunk" was when a friend of mine declared that the coke he had just bought was just that.

I love NPH and I think he will make a great parent, with or without baking classes!

When I read these stories about NPH, I think: Isn't it be better to be regarded that way, with people glad to see you, rather than a miserable diva everybody cringes around? Just sayin'.

Jesus did anyone read the comments on that Popeater site? :O Won't be visiting THAT site anytime soon!

I am afraid the "having twins" announcement confirmed a BI that I saw on CDAN last month. it was about a gay couple . The famous one was flirting with other guys, so the other one suggested kids. This way he could trap the famous one into a permanent relationship (and maybe a spot on "Maury Povich" .)

Enty? Was NPH the BI?

Comments about NPH I mean, of course. Though I have the feeling they're all like that *shudder*

i think he was more upset at the thought of a mini van.

I use bunk all the time! And not even when I'm referring to crappy weed, I swear.

i still use "bunk". is it code for something i don't know?

didn't know they were expecting, that's so terrific!

Popeater based that story on seeing Neil looking for apartments in NYC. Maybe he likes NYC & is getting a 2nd residence? WTF?

NPH handled that response very well. I love reading coherent celebrity tweets (take note LL, Tila, etc.).

150 characters or less leads one to reach for short, weird words on occasion.

The thing I can't figure out is why NPH announced the twins on Twitter at the same time as he asked for the press to respect his privacy.

Rach said...

Pretty sure his request for privacy was because the story had already broken and his options were 1) Confirm it and ask for privacy 2) Deny it and risk putting the surrogate in danger when the press refuse to back off a la SJP or 3) Neither confirm or deny with the same result as 2.

I have used the word bunk around my niece and nephew when they were younger. Maybe NPH is practicing not swearing for when the twins are born.

Melody the First said...

The two stories I can recall referenced Twitter as the source.

maggiemei said...

Check the Eonline story. They were the first to break it, and then they updated with his tweet.

maggiemei said...

Oh, and he also further confirmed he asked for privacy to protect his surrogate, who is not a public figure.

Here is the link to the interview with Kevin Pollak where he explains all this.
