Miss Havisham And Pip To Have Sex?
One of the memories I have from English class way back in the day was watching the 1946 version of Great Expectations. For some reason I will always remember the lines, "Give me your name boy." "Pip sir. They call me Pip."
I also remember that Miss Havisham was a very old woman who walked around in her old wedding dress. Now though, the BBC is doing a whole new version of Great Expectations. Miss Havisham is going to be played by Gillian Anderson and they want her to be sexually charged. Pip is going to be played by a 19 year old actor named Douglas Booth. I get the feeling that Pip and Miss Havisham are going to be having some sex scenes.

An obvious, shameless bid for higher ratings--and in my case, it's working. I can't stand Dickens, I find him one of the most boring and overrated authors of all time. I love Gillian Anderson, though, and am interested in what she'll do with the cougar-ed up role.

Gillian Anderson is a nut, but she is a great actress. I will watch.
LOL I tried to watch the Ethan Hawke/Gwyneth Paltrow version because I like Ethan. He was fine, but it wasn't enough to get me into the story. The movie wasn't good enough for me to get past my aversion of Gwyneth Paltrow, either.
I once witnessed an incredible showdown between my supervisor at Canada Immigration at the airport here in Vancouver and Gillian Anderson, who was getting her new work visa during the X Files days. She came off as a raging, egotistical bitch. Haven't liked her since.
Oh, man, that's disappointing.
@shiny_special_one - Whenever Gillian is mentioned, RQ brings up that story...and then I bring my story about how I met her in Chicago and she was a total sweetheart to me. *shrug* It all depends on the day, really...

She spent much of her youth in England and is really a stage actress. She never did the Hollyweird thing right and was never in love with the politics of the place. She is a lot different than her co-star David D.
Miss H and Pip, really. I wonder how they'll make this work with Estella's character, or if the new Miss H will just be a conglomeration of the two.
