Random Photos Part Two

Anne Hathaway goes for slinky and see through on her way into a fashion show in Paris.
I think this look she put on for an afternoon show was much better.
Bette Midler on the set of her new movie.
A very rare Hugh Grant at a party photo that does not involve body shots off 18 year old girls.
The worst selling Vanity Fair cover in 12 years.
Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt getting in a little tiff out in public.
Yeah, because everyone wears full length denim jackets when it is 100 degrees out. I wonder if Kirstie is gaining weight.
Kate and William paddle.
Kate drops the ball for street hockey.
Kate talks down to her imaginary friend.
William shows you why there are no players from England in the NHL, although it does look like he got it on goal. Or hit someone in the crowd.

I didn't understand the Bieber cover. The Beebs is so NOT the Vanity Fair demographic.

I will be so happy when this royal visit is over. CBC news is in my facebook feed, and I swear all their "news" right now is an hour by hour update of their fucking itinerary.

Hathaway annoys the shit out of me, but she looks fabulous in almost anything.

And Vanity Fair/Graydon Carter better NOT fire any stylists or editors for this cover photo blaming it on them.

It's all Justin Beebs...Graydon is an idiot for having this twat on the damn cover. VF has sunk so low in the past few years.

Great articles (McCourts article this month) but Emma Stone on this month's cover?? Whoooooo?

I love the Jon Hamm picture, sweet that he's such a dork.

JAMES SPADER HAS BEEN HIRED FOR 'THE OFFICE'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Hathaway annoys the hell out of me too, but I like her look in the second dress. Very pretty.

Bette Middler is sporting Kathleen Turner flipflops. At least her feet look nicer :)

LOL on the Bieber cover.

Just read that New Zealand had a 7.7 earthquake off the coast and they're under a tsunami warning.

RocketQueen said...

@FS - AWESOME!!! I will officially start watching again!

@Momster - I read 7.9 :( That poor country. East coast will be hit the hardest if it arrives - that where most of my family is. Fingers crossed.

MnGddess said...

Would anyone have recognized Hugh Grant? He's looking quite bloated and old!

@Momster - so sad to hear. I only hope the people are safe.

What does Bieber have to do with a Vanity Fair reader? They probably think that the Bieberettes will buy the mag just for the cover.

Poor RQ - ..."and the Duchess is walking toward the car...preparing to get in...wait - I think - yes, she has something in her eye..the Duchess has something in her eye! Wait - she got it out...all is well....

OY.

Momster said...

Wow, RQ--hope your family stays safe!

as a VF subscriber of many years, that cover pissed me OFF!

Well wishes to your family, RQ.

What was Anne thinking for that first outfit? Nylons and a brown purse with a black outfit.

Oh Jon, you look awful. Maybe that's why they're fighting, she wants him to clean up a bit.

Nothing finer than a denim trench coat. Last month, I saw a man in a denim two piece suit. Seriously, they were denim pants (not jeans) and a denim sport coat. They had to be tourists because that's not a North American look.

@Maidstone - yeah, VF has really gone off the rails with their cover celebs. It's all starlets and twinkies. I had discounted this month's issue, seeing it was Emma Stone (yawn...is she not the most boring starlet ever?) Thanks for the heads-up on the McCourts article! That's the type of story I like from my VF.

Anne's looking good.

I thought Bette Midler was Sally Struthers at first glance. Maybe that's because we were talking about Jean Stapleton in another post? It's probably that terrible wig, though.

Sidenote: does anyone remember how Sally Struthers was the spokeslady for EVERYTHING back in the eighties? If you wanted to help starving children or get a "degree" in VCR Repair, Sally could definitely give you some advice.

JESUS LORD, could people PLEASE stop scrutinizing Kirstie's weight?! The woman looks happier and more fit than she has in YEARS. Leave her alone! Gawd! Personally, I think her devotion to Scientology is way more bothersome than whether or not she lies about her dress size.

I am *completely* charmed by Kate and Wills. They appear to be nothing but gracious, approachable, and demonstrative in their love for each other. I never gave a shit about their wedding, but I'm totally rooting for them as a couple.

I'm also rooting for Jon and Jennifer -- but only because if they break up and Jon ends up dating some pneumatic starlet, he is permanently DEAD TO ME. Part of what makes him so hot, personally, is how he's such a stand-up dude in real life.

I haven't picked up a Vanity Fair in over a year, and that cover illustrates partly why.

Will & Kate took their personal time - not offical tour time - to visit Slave Lake - which lost countless homes & businesses to a wild fire. Not too many people would do that.

Kidsis said...

I am SOOOO HAPPY about James Spader!!! He was brilliant in the season finale...

Anne, please put some weight back on! :(

RocketQueen said...

Actually, the visit to Slave Lake was a last minute addition to the official itinerary. Thank you CBC for that piece of "news". Sorry. "Divine Right" irks me.

Anonymous said...

@RQ, agreed. I watch CBC in the morning and they drive me nuts. From the 99% coverage of Vancouver in the finals (stop showing a pic of your dog wearing a Canucks jersey) to the royal tour. Other stuff is happening but you wouldn't know it.

RocketQueen said...

Lol fair enough on the Vancouver stuff :)

Yay Kate Middleton! She always makes my day better.

And Anne Hathaway needs to go away. Far, far away. And relinquish her role as Catwoman.

I too have been really enjoying seeing pics of the young Royal couple doing stuff. It just seems like they are making that extra effort to be far more relate-able to everyone. I still remember hearing about them emphatically stating that they were making a practice to not have servants in their home... maybe its naive of me but I'm sorta rooting for them. Wouldnt it be lovely if Diana's eldest made and maintained a love match? *sigh*

Then again, my current romantic mood could be because last night I finally saw MIDNIGHT IN PARIS. Omg- Woody Allen rocks my world!

Anne Hathaway always reminds me of that girl in high school. You know: the girl who took herself so f**king seriously and was in every single drama production, and played the flute in marching band. She has no sense of humor about herself but thinks she can be in comedies because she is an ACTRESS. Shelly Long belongs in the same category.

mygeorgie said...

I normally am not interested whatsoever with anything *Royal*, but I have to agree, these two have me smitten. And part of the 'official itinerary' or not, it was supposed to be their day off during a whirlwind schedule, instead they decided to visit a fire ravaged community. I think that's very gracious, so kudos to them. They both seem very humble & genuinely interested in the people they meet along the way. They're sweet...we need a little more of that in the news imo :)

Loved Spader in Boston Legal.

Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt are a very likeable couple, aren't they? Love Hathaway though, but yes, she knows she's a good actress.

Lots of Volcano Activity as the Ring of Fire is going strong this week.

cowbulls said...

Anne would look great in anything.

Pookie said...

yeah, what mygeorgie said!

vanity fair seriously over-estimated their reach...while i am fully cognizant of the insanely powerful consumer buying power in the tweener demographic, they are a little full of themselves to have thought the girlie bieber cover would help their summer slump. #fail

@Jasmine, saw "Midnight in Paris" last Friday and LOVED it!!! Such a great movie :D

RocketQueen said...

Lol GladysKravitz - dead on.

I LOVE Anne's 2nd dress.

WHY is Bieber on the cover of VF?

Look, Jon Hamm is giving a Kanye shrug!
