Christopher Walked Hires Lawyer For Natalie Wood Investigation
Although the Sheriff's department keeps saying that no one is a suspect in the death of Natalie Wood, it did not stop Christopher Walken from hiring a lawyer. The actor, who along with Robert Wagner was one of the last people to see Natalie Wood alive has hired a former federal prosecutor to help defend him should the need arise. I wonder if anything will come out of this. I think the police will do some interviews, then let everything go quiet for a month or two and then say they stand by their original conclusion. If they change their minds now then they will be admitting they did something wrong before and that is not going to happen. There would have to be something brand new or someone confess before they change their previous ruling.

If you know you are a party to an investigation and you have the resources why wouldn't you hire a lawyer.
exactly. and everyone knows he was there. people have wanted him to speak about what happened that night for years. i would have gotten a lawyer right away, too.
I would do the same thing, he has never spoken of that night.
what if Walken really is a creepy murdering weirdo and not just a creepy weirdo?
I love Walken and I've seen almost all of his movies (even new rose hotel) so I'm hoping nothing comes of this...
If that captain was so outraged over a "cover up" why didn't he come forward years, scratch that, decades ago???
Accidents happen, as sad as that is. She was drunk which certainly contributed to the situation.
People do stupid things, but it's always the cover-up that does them in.
I find it hard to believe he slept through it all, the arguing and her screams for help when she was in the water. If someone in a nearby boat heard it why couldn't he? I believe it was a preventable accident, I believe that several people could have done something and decided not to which is the real crime here, that they got away with her untimely death. They have lived successful lives and appear to have no remorse and she didn't get that opportunity.
I think the whole thing sounds fishy, and she quite likely was the victim of foul play. But they'll never prove it now.
I still think he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was drunk and also on qualudes, that'll put you in a dead sleep for sure.
Just read on Gawker that the Coast Guard who came to find her said Wagner said some disparaging remarks as to why he waited so long to call them - that he thought she went off to another boat for another guy because that's the kind of girl she was. Also the COast Guard said that if they were called sooner she might not have died.
If Wagner didn't do it, then he holds responsibility for waiting so long.
Of course he's going to hire a lawyer. Doesn't make him guilty at all.
I have a hard time believing Walken didn't hear the fighting. They were all drunk and he may have fallen asleep easily, but the fight happened quickly after he left for his room, so I think he heard the fight.
What bothers me is his Playboy interview where he supports Wagner's version. I feel like he just said it because that was the agreed upon story. Even Wagner changed his story in his book.
The woman in the boat moored nearby - three people on that boat heard Natalie. She is on record calling for help. She came to them the next morning too. I believe her because her story has never changed.
I don't think Walken had anything to do with it. I just think he heard the fight is all.
And if his version is different than Wagner's version, which is different in his book than the original version, it's good for Walken to have a lawyer.
Clearly, the captain changed his version and the captain has put himself in the position that he could be an accessory to...manslaughter?
I would never talk to the police without a lawyer. The captain said that they were all drinking and taking qualuudes, I bet he slept through it and then repeated what Wagner told him happen.
I've also read FBI research that when the person calling 911 or for help takes the time to disparage the victim and put blame on them, they usually caused whatever happened to the victim. So the Wagner quotes to the Coast Guard are very interesting to me.
there were only 3 other people on that boat, if Wagner isn't a person of interest or suspect then hell yeah I would get a lawyer also.
Where was Walken's wife? She wasn't on the boat, but he has been married to her FOREVER. I always wondered about that.
I think Walken didn't want to get involved with the domestic problems of Natalie Wood and her hubby. They had a long history of fighting badly. Also if he was drunk and drugged, he sure was in no shape to know what was going on.
If the captain is telling the truth, it appears that Wagner may have roughed Natalie up, and she ended up overboard when they took their fight to the back of the boat. The odd thing is, Wagner's delaying calling for help. I read somewhere where the captain said she didn't take the dingy by herself ever. I don't know. I've always sort of suspected Wagner, but could be wrong, of course.
