Two weeks ago this former A+ list comedian, who is still A list caused a small fire in his very expensive hotel room while he was freebasing. OK, not that small of a fire, but he put it out himself. He then asked the hotel staff to put him in a different room because his smelled bad. He didn't even mention the fire even though it had set off the suppression system in his room. He just wanted to change. They let him.

Thanks for the Chappelle link. I served him a coffee once. A woman approached him & within seconds was into a story about how wonderful he was, blah, blah, blah. I'm busy rolling my eyes thinking how cool I am serving the famous man coffee. Her story was about her continuing recovery & struggle with drugs. HE WAS THE BEST! They stepped outside to the courtyard & he was so great & spent time chatting with her & encouraging her efforts. This was a few years after he left his show. He was low key and was gracious & interested & respectful. MUCH more so than I was being busy admiring how 'cool' I was. I will always remember that. I don't think it's him either and I completely respect how he handled that crowd. Especially when he informed them that he was still getting paid because he fulfilled the terms of his contract.
Is Katt Williams a list? Then there's always the Diceman to fall back on now that hes making a living again.

If it set off the fire suppression system (you could have just gone with sprinklers, Ent) the entire hotel would have been evacuated and the fire alarm would have gone off. So, yeah, calling bullshit on that one.

@kristin, true, but his behavior was not "off the rails" as had been portrayed in other articles.
I know. I was at the show. I was just pointing out that just because he was vilified in the press, that has nothing to do with his drug use. Which he has always been pretty open about (though I don't know about freebasing).
The reports of a meltdown were inaccurate, yes. But that doesn't mean he's not using. The two points have no corralation.

Insightful article..my sister and her now-husband met him at a restaurant when he performed in Chapel Hill, and they said he sat and talked and cracked jokes with them for a minute..said he was just really humble and down to earth
