That telecast was so damn bland. I could not believe that movie won Best Picture. The trailer made it look incredibly bad.

They've turned it into a political march.

Pretty obvious, the DNC finances this show.

Let's get this out of the way:

Didn't watch. Never cared.
Boring.
Too much political talk, don't need it from celebrities.
Didn't see any of the movies.
Hollywood hypocrites.
Obviously slanted politically.

So let's move on to something more interesting.

While i liked the "Overlook Hotel" commercial for the Academy Museum, at the same time, FUCK The Academy Museum. I said this somewhere last night, but Debbie Reynolds tried for years to put a museum together for all the Hollywood memorabilia she had collected over the years and asked the Academy to collaborate and they said no. I hope that the Academy can't get back even a third of what she ended up auctioning off and what they can get back, they will have to pay exponentially higher prices than what the items were auctioned for.

Oh hell nice! Guillermo del Toro, Shape of Water and Blade Runner, these were good!

Not a great year. Was good to see Blade Runner 2049 take a couple of awards; it's probably the only one of these films anybody will still want to watch in a few years.

I watched most of the show (excruciatingly boring) hoping that Phantom Thread would win for Best Director (deservedly so) and Best Picture. My heart skipped a beat whenever the camera captured him. Thought it might be angina as I’m too old to have a crush on someone but no......apparently never too old to appreciate a handsome talented artist. And his lady/wife/partner Maya? Leave her alone!! She looked beautiful, relaxed and so self assured. She stood out as a favorite presenter because of her talent. Please stop with the criticism of her dress.

If you didn't watch how do know it was boring? Or too much political talk?

Do Tell said...

It really was boring. Tepid was one word a review used for the broadcast, and I think that is very accurate.

I just read that while last year's broadcast hit a nine year low in the ratings with Jimmy Kimmel hosting, this year's program was down another 16% from THAT. I guess they'll keep bringing him back, and the same inept producers, until the telecast is completely killed off, lol.

who was it who won who made the point of saying the Oscar was NOT for his kids but for his dead mother?lol that was so so awful. that Oscar should ride home tied to giant red bow strapped to a couple ponies

Oh, please.
If it’s any comfort, Glenn Beck wants to start a new, “conservative” Hollywood, how’s that.
Start with Scott Baio, James Woods, Roseanne Barr & go from there.

Pertinent questions.
