Blind Item #6

Speaking of the late night talk show host, he is responsible for the reality star not facing backlash for many of the racist things she said on a recent show because he wanted her to be able to return to the show. If the things had aired, the show would have been forced to fire her. Unaired they can pretend it never happened.

Anybody can today be accused of racism - a serious accusation - just because some person doesn't like them. No proof is needed, in order to destroy somebody's reputation and life.

It's disgusting, and makes light of actual racism, not to mention it's libellous, incriminatory and designed to smear a person beyond redemption.

I refuse to believe these hysterical accusations any longer unless there is some actual proof. Without that, they can fuck themselves, together with their pointy fingers and pitchforks and torches, the persecuting peasants.

@notalibtard.

Whenever I hear someone accused of racism I automatically assume they've said nothing of the sort. Like Adam Carrolla said, theres never been a better time to be a racist because no one takes the accusations seriously anymore.

+1. It's easy to say racism is played out and non existent when you're not forced to live with it on a daily constant basis. The problem nowadays is racism is not just black and white or all in your face. Its subtle and murky. Its muddled up with other forms of hatred. It's not so easy to point out or have "proof".

Samantha the 1st said...

Words become diluted with over use.

And yes it is libelous and you cannot prove a negative.

Someone can be ignorant and not racist.

I don't know about this particular thing or what was said, though.

mooshki said...

@Samantha When someone says something racist out of ignorance and gets called out on it, a racist replies "I'm not really racist!" and a non-racist says "OMG, I'm so sorry, thank you for educating me so I can do better next time."

Samantha the 1st said...

mooshki wouldn't that depend on "how" they were "called out?"

Explaining something vs. calling as much attention as possible while loudly stamping that person a racist for instance. The latter is far more common online. People love those likes.

mooshki said...

@Samantha In that case, you say "Thanks for the information, but you didn't need to be so rude about it."

Samantha the 1st said...

Do you see the catch-22 though, and how that proves my point that you can't prove a negative. You've said that if someone says they are not a racist, that proves they are.

I don't think a racist would care, frankly.

The thing is if someone calls me a funky name I often just laugh and scroll because I know who I am. And they're someone unknown, behind a computer who knows where, attacking strangers on the internet.

mooshki said...

Saying "I'm not a racist" is meaningless either way. You have to *show* if you're a racist or not through your words and actions.

Samantha the 1st said...

I feel like we're kind of going in circles. But I'll try to communicate my point again.

Maybe examples would help. I don't know what you might have in mind.

I'll give an example.

If someone claims that anyone who gossips about MM is a racist, that's an example, for me, of just slinging the word around and diluting it. It's a specious accusation.

If the people then reply with shock and exclaim "I'm not a racist" or some iteration thereof, it now means they are proven to be a racist?

And your advice is that they should THANK the person making specious accusations and libeling them?

Since it's not 'real life' and NEITHER person is a known quantity (the accuser or accused), how seriously should accusations of rancid philosophies be taken?

How does one "show" one is not a racist, on the internet?

It's too easy to get "likes" by going around calling people out and no one pushing the up vote or like button will question it much. People like hive mind and to jump on a bandwagon. But that's someone's real life reputation they are messing around with.

If there is a hot topic and a person tries to point out another way to look at it, they can easily get jumped on by a social media mob, and destroyed, unfairly. The same person can be labeled x one day and z the next, with both labels being as irresponsible and untrue.

If the one doing the judging is wack, and doesn't know it, is that fair for others to take it all at face value? That's part of what's wrong in social media and the internet overall.

Like "pedo," a "racist" label is too serious to sling around like that.

Same thing with some other ism labels and phobe labels. The person accused is put in the position of putting all their life business out there in a vain attempt to "disprove" what can't be disproven, or remain tarnished. Or they can block and scroll and hope the mob moves on to the next shiny.

If a person can't see what's problematic about labeling total strangers -ists and -phobes, on such little "evidence," then they've kind of proven, to me, that they're gonna see what they wanna see, and continue in that fashion.

If you have problems being called a racist then don’t do racist shit. It’s as simple as that.

mooshki said...

We're "going in circles" because you're unwilling to accept that you're a racist. You can try to talk your way out of it all you want, but every word you say just proves it more and more.

OKay said...

Saying you're not racist does NOT mean you're racist. What a ridiculous statement. It does, however, prove the point that everybody wants to scream "racist" 24/7 these days. And apparently pointing that out is...racist.

OKay said...

Oh, and @mookshki? You are *definitely* the problem in this instance. Samantha's absolutely correct and has presented a very practical argument, and all you've got in response is that she's a racist and every (intelligent) word she says proves that? Nobody needs to take a single word you say seriously.

Weekittylass said...

Basic white bitches calling others racist is, to me, worse. Now go ahead and call me a racist and I will ask you which race? My white, black or Hispanic? I am all three.. Samantha the 1st you could not be more clear and more correct.

Alma's Daughter - racist has a definition.

People who are racist do not have any trouble being known as it - they are proud of it - they think it's right and want everyone to know it - so you are both screaming at the air.

Either neither of you understand the word or you are just trolling anyone who's handy.

Adam Carolla? Sounds familiar. Hmmm. You mean that loser from The Man Show? Kimmel took a crap on him and ran off to be a human being and make 100 million bucks. Adam is now a racist, sexist, homophobe for provocation. Dialing for racism as a skill set. He's where he is because he's a racist, sexist, homophobe and he hasn't a clue how to get to where Jimmy now parks his car. Of course he'd have to be clever and amusing. But let's not quibble. All that's left is snark and bitterness. Talk about losing the coin toss!

Hummingbird-brained, fish-lipped, frozen-face, soup-bowl-boobed, vagina-remodeled, white women being racist while Andy-no-socks-never-a-bottom Cohen snickers?

Color me stunned..

Alma's Daughter said...

I am not here to argue with you about what is and isn’t racist. You’re an apologist who makes it easy for racists to spread their hate. And that says more about YOU than it will ever say about people like me who call you on it,. It’s easier to be a racist in certain company than it is to call one out. Such is life.

Samantha the 1st said...

Alma, you and mooshki are a pair of trolls. You popped in out of the blue (alt?) and your interjections make no sense. Why would you just commence to calling (who?) racist out of the blue? You make no sense at all. Unless you are mooshki, no one was talking to you.

Samantha the 1st said...

Sabre, and "not a libtard" - thank you.

Samantha the 1st said...

mooshki - so you don't know what the definition of irony is, in addition to not knowing the definition of racist. Alma doesn't know the definition of apologist, so you make a (great?!) team.

Damn. That was all SPOT ON. Very well said.
And I really want to believe that those other posters are trolls.
But these days, it's unfortunately hard to tell

Alma's Daughter said...

Oh, so I'm a troll (sticks and stones and all that jazz) since I I won't play your game of "defining" racism (rolling my eyes at your juvenile games). This is the second time you called me a name, yet I'm the troll. I call 'em like I see 'em. You don't like it? Tough shit.

Alma's Daughter said...

And another thing, I didn't call anyone a racist. Seems you have a reading comprehension problem along with being an apologist. I'm not surprised.

If anyone is still wondering what happened in the blind - Apparently Camille of RHOBH used the word "mulatto" at the reunion, and it was edited out.

I dunno if that (alone) proves she is a racist, as some are now claiming; but it would seem to prove she was born in 1850.

Samantha the 1st said...

Hmm, my replies to Alma didn't make it through. I thought they were very fair and even handed, but I guess it had been said upthread already, and as I said in one of them, "this has gone past boring."
