Blind Item #5 - Reader Blind Item

This still living bubbly, sexy actress is most famous for a popular TV show where she was paired with an actor who later had an even more successful TV show in a different genre (which the actress guest starred on a few times).  She appeared in a lot of other TV shows and movies.

One detail of her life which has been rumored since the start of her career actually hindered her path to success as agents and studio people knew about it and were always afraid it was going to come out.

It is true that early in her life when she was just starting out and to help her family when they were having financial problems she worked as a call girl. She was actually very successful at this as she was very popular among some very powerful and wealthy men.  In fact, her first major role came as a result of servicing an important  studio executive

SERVICING?

Sounds like Barbara Eden. Starred with Larry Hagman on I Dream of Jeannie, then later made some appearances on Dallas. Still works conventions.

Yep. Barbara Eden.

I met her once, a few years back. Total lady, very gracious and just a treat to talk to.

@Zebra, any services paid for? Just curious!

Guess all those dirty old viewers drooling over her weren't far off the mark then.

I remember the episode of Andy Griffith she was in

Zebra Seasoning said...

Nah. Even if she offered I wouldn't have been able to afford it. ;)

Suzanne Summers, Jack Ritter, Three’s Company and 8 Simple Rules. They even used her for February sweeps on 8SR

@Cherry - 8 Simple Rules didn't make Jack Ritter more famous like Dallas did for LH.

Suzanne Simmers did nude photos when she was a single mother and broke. Maybe this was her?

I'm on the Suzanne Summers train.

yepthatsme said...

@JagerLilly808, it seems like a LOT of people were on that train!

So a normal Hollywood success story then.

Good for her.

I'm on the Barbara Eden bandwagon. She was on an episode of I Love Lucy.

It would be more difficult to find an actress, past or present, who was not a call girl. The only ones you would find would be the daughters of the rich and famous like Jane Fonda...who was just a cheap slut.

Wow, my simpleton mind was sure this was Pam Anderson, but I love these other guesses

How about Marlo Thomas? Sally Field?

I don't care if Barbara Eden had to do less than savory things to support her family. Many women (most especially the non-famous and dirt poor) have had to do similar--or worse. In fact, I admire that she cared so much for her family she was willing to do whatever she could to help them. The culmination of her life story is she was wonderfully pleasant to work with, always kind to her fans, appreciative to those she met, and left an indelible mark in the pantheon of loveable tv characters who will be fondly cherished by her audience for generations to come.

Not Suzanne Somers. 8SR is the same genre as Three's Company. The actor did something in a different genre. I agree with the Eden guess.

My spouse met Barbara when he was a teen page (attendant) on her Mardi Gras float in early 70's. Has always said she was one of sweetest ladies he ever met; she was very motherly - asked if they needed a break, water, snack etc. One of the most beautiful women he ever saw (besides yours truly ☺️) She's suffered a lot of tragedy too. Does it matter how she started out? By most accounts she's a lovely human being. Loved Her since Jeannie days. Always will.

I say Eden too. Ritter did more comedy his whole life. Hagman went from JEANNIE to night time drama soap success so you could argue John stayed in his wheelhouse his whole career.

8 Simple Rules wasn't more successful than Three's Company for heaven's sake. And Barbara had more than one appearance on Dallas.

Great guess Fiendish Man!

+1 Fiendish. Barbara Eden was a beautiful, gracious lady. I don't care how she got her big break. There are stories everywhere how she treats everyone kindly.

Say whatever you want about Marlo Thomas, but Barbara Eden can do no wrong!
Loved her in Jeannie, remember her in that I Love Lucy (a fantastic Marilyn Monroe-esque character) and Harper Valley PTA.
When I was a teen, back in the late 1970's, my family visited Disney World. The top floor of the Contemporary Hotel was a nightclub/supper club. Different stars and celebrities would perform - Steve Allen and his wife were there one New Year's Eve. We say Brenda Lee once. But one of the most exciting, ladylike, beautiful performer we saw was Barbara Eden. She had a great voice, but her personality and warm humor won the audience over. She was, and still is, a class act.

What a great experience! Barbara Eden is a well-loved lady!

Like men haven't had to do the same. Can it with the poor whamens crap. It's stale AF.

HouellebecqGurl said...

I agree it's probably Eden, as well, and I've heard the same stories about how sweet she was to those who worked with her.

HouellebecqGurl said...

No, it's not.
