Blind Item #13 - Reader Blind - Kindness

During his peak several decades ago, this permanent A/A- rock star had a ferocious persona and stage show.  The name he used was also associated with his original band.

From the very beginning, this performer had a strong commitment to charity, perhaps because of the vocation of his father, and a list of his charitable works would fill several pages.

Nowadays, he is most active with his own organization and one of their chief concerns is a youth center which is located in the city where the rock star lives. They provide free training in the arts to poor and at risk teens.  There are testimonials from numerous former students of this center of how this place gave them focus in life as well as providing a sanctuary in case of homelessness or unsafe living conditions.

Agree it's Alice Cooper. Was his father a minister?

Sounds like Cooper's Solid Rock Fondation. He's a good guy. And he was original part of The Alice Cooper Band, which fits the blind.

I've heard that he's the nicest guy ever from friends up in Phoenix that have ran into him.

I was really hoping for Marilyn Manson with this one 🤣

Yeah, Alice Cooper seems to be a decent and thoughtful guy. No idea whatsoever why he spends time with that worthless dipshit Depp.

Alice Cooper for sure.

Maybe because Depp isn't a dipshit. Or worthless. He just let hia dick lead regarding Amber Whored. Surely you, of all people, comprehend such things.

Boo Kitty said...

I can't fathom Rod "I'm only attracted to blondes decades younger than I am" Stewart as being conscientious enough to form a charity.

Boo, stop flirting with me, or do so with more wit.

J said...

lol, you're not related to good ol' Pumpa Boo, are you?

That was great!

@ Guesser agreed- Alice Cooper is permanent A++ and IMO it's him. Dad and grandpa both in the church, born Vincent Furnier but changed his name to AC. It's funny, back in the day the buzz was he was a satanist, shouldn't let your teens go to his show..come to find to that was all a wind up for publicity, the makeup is modeled after Bette Davis in what ever happened to baby jane not some cult marker. By all accounts he is a good and decent human being, swears he's never cheated in the over 40 yrs he's been married, gives a lot to charity, has the organization for kids..too bad more famous people don't take a page from his book so to speak..

J said...

My understanding is the name "Alice Cooper" initially referred to the group. Over time it transitioned to identifying just the front man, Vincent Furnier.

God I was a fan when I was a kid. Loved Alice Cooper!

That's why his slumming with shitwipe Depp is so sad.

Read the first sentence and instantly thought of Alice Cooper, who is an AMAZING person to meet. His appearance in Wayne's World is literally him in real life.

Alice has done some revisionist history with his image. Along with Lee Marvin he helped pioneer palimony settlements for abandoned long term girlfriends (Cindy Lang). He also took the band name Alice Cooper for himself as a solo star, cutting the other founding members out. He claims they all happily went their separate ways, but the other members disagree.....

Went to a wake in SB for Alice's former bass player, who'd owned a wine shop after his hands' arthritis forced the bassist to leave recording/touring. Anyway, Alice was at the memorial at a local winery, and as his former band-mates ground out 'Louie, Louie' in a 'tribute' jam, Alice turned 'round to me and said, "I never understood the lyrics", and I responded, "I don't think anyone ever has". He smiled and turned back 'round to the group on stage. I didn't 'meet' him per se, but I did meet his wife and kids, and they are really, really nice people. Alice spoke very movingly and humbly about his bass player. He IS the real deal, a super decent human being with ZERO airs about him.....

Alice is a great role model for Johnny Depp. If Johnny was smart he'd ditch being Keith Richards, lose 20 pounds, stop being a drunk and druggy, get his finances sorted, stop buying crap, get into some movies, save every dime, take care of your kids who adore you and your ex girlfriend who stuck by you for donkey years, get into serious therapy, and grow up. Learn golf. Do something. Learn a new skill

Hang with Alice and see what moderation looks like. Work at living life. No do-overs. No refunds. Johnny is basically a good guy who has lost his way. If he needs guidance, CALL ALICE!

Another thing about Alice Cooper that people don't really talk about... since he's been sober he's counseled other artists in the music business and helped them get/stay sober. He really is a good and kind man. He does a lot for others, he just doesn't talk about it or use it to promote himself.

My parent's first date was an AC concert. He's a helluva guy and always has been. Pro quality golfer, too.

We used to party at Alice Cooper’s house, back in high school. He’s a really great guy and has done a lot for many, many people, here in the valley. He hosts a radio show & he is incredibly knowledgeable about everyone in the industry. I love listening to his show and learning so much.

It’s all true. We love him!

Alice Cooper! I was lucky enough to sing backup for him once as a kid in choir, and he was the nicest guy EVER. Took time to chat to each of us, encouraged us to sing all our lives for the love of it! Can definitely see this being him.

This is Alice Cooper. I've been a fan since my high school days and that's a long, LONG time ago. I've gone to most of his tours. I actually met him in Phoenix accidentally. He golfs at the hotel where we were staying. Nice guy who's a role model for others in the business. Yes J I know he stole Alice Cooper away from the original band members but he's spent a lifetime doing good.
