Blind Items Revealed #4

February 27, 2020

This cable network wants people who quit from the long running hit show brought back in an attempt to get the ratings back to a good space. Right now, the ratings are so low, that the network is bleeding money.

The Walking Dead

Not surprised, but the people who left - most characters are dead!

Can't they just cancel it?

Has there ever been a show that was still decent by season 10?

Norman Reedus is not worth what he's getting.

Well they do have another spin off in the works which airs later this year but it's more like a tween drama that should be on the CW and not on AMC.

Did they honestly expect anything different from a show who's entire premise involves killing off characters in a universe with a limited number of options for bringing in new ones? Like how is this at all shocking to anyone?

How can anyone watch zombie shows?

Does anyone have any ideas/theories on what could be the endgame to this show/story?

This show needs to end. I have been hate watching for a few seasons already but can't quit it so usually fast forward through bits. Have been wishing for a last season announcement. That being said Rick (andrew lincoln) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) are the only two that could back and I think it's already announced that Maggie is coming back probably because her series was cancelled and apparently no big movie career. Haven't seen Lincoln in movies so wonder when he'll be back. Please announce next season will be last and bring them back and wrap up storylines!!!!

yepthatsme - I'm torn between having it all burn down and they all get 'turned' land having Rick come back from wherever he was taken by helicopter and bring them back to some 'safehaven' somewhere.

'turned' OR having Rick.......

Add a hint about Corona virus being the culprit and BAM ratings go up...

Not sure how you bring back a bunch of dead people but I sure do miss the old days of this show. It’s a big snooze now.

The network isn't exactly "bleeding money". The whole show, plus the spin-off, has been a huge moneymaker for them for a decade. They already fired the show creator, Frank Darabont, over a budget dispute after the first season, Lauren Cohan actually left after they refused to give her a reasonable raise after seven or eight years on the show.
Besides, even if they get Lincoln, Gurira and Cohan back, they're simply out of interesting material. That's actually why they stretched Negan as the main villain for so many seasons (Maggie was pregnant for YEARS). The Whisperers and Alpha don't make for riveting villains, and the comics don't have many more arcs left to improve on that.

One interesting thing is that, while Enty tends to have simplistic blind items where the solution is obvious even to someone who spent a lot of time on the short bus, this one was left definitely ambiguous, as the answer could well be American Horror Story (except that if it were about AHS, it would open a whole can of worms about Enty's previous blinds)

Check the ratings for The Walking Dead:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Walking_Dead_episodes#Ratings

And now the ratings for American Horror Story:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_Horror_Story_episodes#Ratings

You can notice that, for The Walking Dead, the departure of both Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan (in episode 5 of season 9) didn't cause the ratings to change significantly. The show is simply aging and getting more and more irrelevant.

The people watching veg out just like the zombies.
"BRAINS!"

I do hope so.
Rick was The Walking Dead
And Maggie got me right in the penis every time.

I'm betting the male producers are already looking for an orgy scene.
Seems the norm these days.

I left when Andrew Lincoln left.
It was worth watching with him.

However, the plots were always the same season after season.
Good guys vs some bad guys.

Negan was a good bad guy. The rest, I could care less.

Out of curiosity, I followed the Morgan character to Fear the Walking Dead.
However, it's the same scenario there.
I might be done with the show altogether.

I've never watched the show, but would this mean theyd all come back as zombies?
In the unsolicited two cents department, Plants vs Zombies is a quality game series! Brainz!

I was done watching regularly when they killed off Glenn. The problem with the show now as I see it is there’s no character left worth rooting for. Plus the antagonists they’ve written into the show are lame and boring. Even the Negan character has somehow become tedious, and believe me, he was never boring in the novels.

Every show hits its end and this one clearly has.

Should've ended years ago.

I used to love this show, but it went downhill back in season five. You know a show is not going to go anywhere when the pilot is still the best episode. I stopped watching when Negan came on. I was tired of villain of the season. The show still has the best looking zombies. It's time to kill off the zombies and find a cure.

I gave up halfway through season two, when you could tell that Darabount's influence was finally gone. I would tune in occasionally but was always disappointed.

I started watching that because of the zombie premiss and it was good at first. Problem is you can't really have zombies as antagonists long-term simply because they literally have no intelligence. So the zombies just became background characters while a bunch of human antagonists were brought in, and the thing pretty much stopped being a zombie show. I have no idea what's happened in the later seasons but I'm thinking more focus on the actual zombie virus and how to fight it would have kept it more on track instead of the regular post-apocalyptic extravaganza. Anyway, this is why vampires work much better as antagonists.

I was dissapointed in the show for season 8 but since the new showrunner took over it's actually become quite enjoyable again. Plus, Lauren Cohen is coming back. They're starting to get their groove back, they just need to kill Negan. That's why most people left. JDM is annoying af.
