Your Turn

Under normal circumstances, do you like St. Patrick's Day or Cinco de Mayo better?

Cinco de Mayo. Too many drunk bros on Pattys Day.

Both are just another day to me but I like seeing people celebrate life and take some joy in this wicked world.

I like cinco de mayo food better than Irish (real Irish) food. I can't stand Guinness and really don't like drinking tequila very much. I like mariachi bands over bagpipers

This year Cinqo b/c it, at least happened. ST Pats is cancelled everywhere and that is sad (Half ☘️) because it’s truly an institution, especially in NYC.

Too many plastic paddys on St Pats Day. Also gets on my nerves that St George's day celebrations in UK are not half as big as St Pat's day in UK ... no national pride for Brits but no probs if your Great Great Great Great Granddaddy's brother from another lover came from the old country...put that shamrock tee on and drink like you never left Dublin...

St. Patrick's Day. Love the green hair, nails, beer, etc. Although, Cinco de Mayo does have tacos.

Cinco de Mayo!!!

St. Patty's. I don't pay any attention to Cinco de Mayo, I think that's largely observed by Latino/Hispanic communities. St. Patrick's is mainstream.

Both are fun now, but I grew up in an area where St. Patrick's Day was more celebrated.

Never celebrated either. I'd never heard of the Mexican onr until a couple of years ago. And Mexicans are a tad thin on the ground around here anyway.

Cinco de Mayo. Way better food (and I'm part Irish).

Happy St. Pat's Day from a good Irish lass and "May you all live to comb gray hair". (Yeats)

For the first time in 258 years, there was NO St. Patrick's Day Parade today in New York City. There are echoes of Bagpipes along 5th Avenue. You hear the strains of the Irish songs when the winds blow. Believe me, Irish eyes aren't smiling today. All the Pubs are closed. Restaurants are open but it's take out only. Famous, beloved eating places are closing for good. NYC is now just a small town with no fun involved. The events that made people want to live here are temporarily gone. Will it ever return to normal? We can only pray for the hundreds of thousands of men and women who are now unemployed with no income. Since most are illegal aliens, there will be an exodus back to the Motherland very soon. Many are my personal friends. Pray!

Please don't call it St Pattys.

I’m black but I got Irish ancestry so I’m going with St. Paddy.

St Patrick's Day.

St Patricks Day. They don't really celebrate Cinco de Mayo here in the south. At least not in the part I live in.

You know what they say, drinking holidays are for amateurs, when the pros go drinking any day can be St Patrick's Day or Cinco de Mayo. I guess I like all the green stuff for St Patrick's Day.

Do Tell said...

I'll call it SPD instead then. Because less typing.

I really don't get involved in either.

Funny! That's a reminder of the character on Ray Donovan who's black and Irish. Black Irish. Priceless!

Definitely St. Patrick’s Day. But always celebrate on both!
