Blind Items Revealed #3

April 25, 2018

This pay cable show is a big hit, but behind the scenes, it is one of the worst places to work and unless you are one of the stars, you never want to go back. Unless things have changed, the producers are just playing roulette at this point as to when they will get sued for hostile work environments. The producers tried to go in after scenes, sometimes a week later to try and get actors to sign nudity riders and releases in an attempt to cover themselves.

There was that scene filmed in an actual mausoleum where the people in charge had to be warned against trying to make the actors touch each other's genitals, especially without barriers. Several crypts were damaged because the actors were painted head to toe, sweating profusely and given no breaks. They ended up leaning against the crypts and the paint would smear on the crypts. Oh, and don't forget the lit torches that were held and lit for hours which caused temperatures to soar even higher and caused multiple people to pass out from the heat.

Oh, and don't forget the guys who kept wandering on set and pleasuring themselves in the corners to the scenes they were watching. Several high level crew quit that day because of the conditions.

It's fucking embarrassing to watch.
Especially Japanworld's totally rad Boomer endorsed "Paint it Black" instrumental cover.
So fucking embarrassing.

Geeljire said...

I recommend it over "The Deuce" for whatever that counts for.

Goddamn mopers creeping around in the background.

Score, I totally called this one. I had doubts about the second season, but they really made it work, I was impressed. Guess next season will be Blade Runner stuff, which is cool, the cowboy stuff got old.

"I don't think that's intentional. We just wanted to create a palette that was very sensual and very dark and not particularly rote or done. We housed this scene in a mausoleum in Compton. That's where we found this location: a very narrow building where essentially 40,000 bodies are buried aboveground. It was a strange place to begin with. It had a very haunting flavor to it, right from the get-go. (Laughs.) It was very surreal."

Sounds like an occult ritual similar to DeNiro and Scorcese in an old synagogue in Crown Heights a few days before May 1.

Westworld more like Cestworld.. Am I right? No? Ok Bye..

More info, please. Can't find anything via search.

Having worked in film/TV production years & years ago, most productions will leave locations in a wreck & littered with trash.

I would never, ever knowingly allow any production to filming anywhere in or around any property I own.

Probably left huge carbon deposits on the ceiling of that mausoleum burning torches in there for hours on end. Also the people who lost consciousness might have suffered a lack of oxygen rather than just from the heat.

Can you expand on that?I think I know what you are saying but....

@Brayson

So S2 is worth a gander? S1 left me a little cold, not terrible or anything like that, only a little underwhelming repetitive, and I wasn't planning on continuing.

Look in comments in the last week of April, that was a Geeljire field report. Takbir.

Youre missing the plot. plot.
Enough with this adversarial relationship we all have.
Let's unite and you can use your intelligence for the good.
Unless. it's all a hoax..?

@plot Season 2 was a horrible piece of shit I would suggest not wasting your time. I think some people want to pretend like they liked it and understood it to seem like a critical thinker above the rest. So don't be fooled it sucked balls and now I def won't try season 3 with this scummy news.

Dammit geel, I barely have time to abscond from my weekly work loud to read these the first time just a little snippet, no? Something easy to do the Google with?
hiding behind a computer screen isn't as easy as it sounds.

Thanks Coco!

Westworld felt a lot like I Robot to me, with the time shifting narratives that did nothing for the story but thrilled certain segments of the audience, I suppose. Also, the acting on both shows is a little overwrought or seemed inappropriate to the scenes, even from the normally excellent Ed Harris.

Less is more. The original West World thrilled me as a little kid, all the 70s sci-fi did, still does because it depended a lot on the imagination of the audience to fill in the graphic details while they told good stories.

I made this mistake once. Let a film crew in my new home. Never ever again, it was terrible what they did.

I'll dig it up give me a second

@Plot, I though S1 had an underwhelming finale, I wasn't sure how much further they could take the show. Most people told me S2 was sh!t, not to bother, but I watched anyway and was glad I did. There are twists and epiphanies, some obvious some not. There is more than oh now we have these self aware robots killing people what are we going to do?

If the first season was about the nature of AI, the second season is about the nature of humanity, with something unexpected, that's all I'll give away.

I think what dragged some viewers down was the shifting time frames in the storytelling. It didn't faze me but I know it confused many. Also it's an HBO series so you have the usual throwaway episodes mixed in with the epic episodes, one director seems to pop up on a lot of the great ones.

Way too much edgy pay cable tits and why I didnt watch Game of Thrones either

I mostly disliked S2 but it wasn’t all bad. Every character is irredeemablly evil either by choice or by programming, and in a culture where we expect the good guys to win, that’s tough to take.

Thandie Newton is a staggering talent and she’s reason enough to keep watching.

Coco said...

^I can agree on Westworld, but Game of Thrones is the best damn show ever. I ignored it until over a year ago finally watched the whole series. When it was over I rewatched the series, and watched it in full about 5 more times.

I have a question - how often do Hollywood productions get sued for hostile work environments? I'm guessing not often at all, unless these people want to lose their jobs.

Normal. Yes indeed. said...

I changed the channel 7 minutes after the premiere of season 2. So fucking boring.

I think Chris got all the creativity genes in that family.

Jae Reekay said...

People who thought S2 was "shit" were just mad they couldnt keep up or put the pieces together. Dont be mad youre dumb. It happens.

Geeljire said...

No it's boring as sin and Ghost in the Shell and other media have been doing this gimmick way better and way longer.

Much like how some Nolan ripped off Paprika but who the hell am I?

Baby boomer spotted.

Joseph P Blow, Kokomo PD said...

Is it cool to make fun of me because I'm dumb? Intelligence is largely genetic, so what say do I really have in whether I am able to perform such herculean mental tasks as keeping up with such a deep and layered TV show like Westworld. I'm pretty dumb but I'm still not really keen on the idea of putting down people for the something they have little to no control over. Was the word you were looking for "ignorant" or are you dumb enough to find humor in other peoples' disadvantages?

plot said...

Thanks Brayson. I'll have to wait a while, till I get back home, to start it. It will have a few episodes to hook me. We'll see if that happens.

Lol yeah OK. Those guys are total old school Italian Catholics. Family has known them for decades.

Westworld season 2 is basically about The Singularity. The technological Singularity. That’s really it. It’s about the beginning of man and machine merging together to create one. What Westworld does is constantly screw with the timeline to make it more confusing and seem more profound. It’s honestly insulting at this point. I don’t need to do mental gymnastics trying to remember which plot is when. Especially when I understand what the main point they are driving home is. Technological Singilarity and the birth of Artificially Intelligent beings gaining full sentience. And the nuances and feelings about them. That’s really it. It’s truly not complicated. They just make it so.

tetsujin said...

While I think a lot of the "originality" in modern Hollywood productions is inspired by Japanese artistry, "Westworld" is based on a book written in the 70s. GITS didn't have anything to do with it.

Mo said...

I liked S2. Trying to figure out when this mausoleum scene fit. I don’t recall any mausoleum.

Elephant Cat said...

I love Westworld, my only disappointment was that S2 didn't end with a massive amount of hosts getting out and taking over the world. But starting small is alright. It's like an Adam and Eve type thing.

Nolans are pretentious douche bags

Ouiser Boudreaux said...

Are we looking over the fact that they filmed a scene like this in a place that should be treated with some respect? Not to be a pearl clutcher or anything, but people are buried there. That juxtaposition makes my stomach turn. I guess that’s what they were going for, though...
