Today's Blind Items - Keep Him Away From Her
This actress is A list now. I hate to say it, but she is. Not for movies, but for television. If you are the lead for your own show, you get to be A list and she has done it twice. One was a very big hit. Back in the day though, when she was still a teen but very developed for her age she was on a show. The show didn't last long at all and it is probably a very good thing because this once B list tv/movie actor who has been in the news recently for some sex issues was also on the show. Apparently our actress never noticed what was going on but other members of the crew did and would not let the actor anywhere near the actress. They caught him always looking at her and making comments about her and were really scared he would try something if he managed to get her alone. The actor would try to do everything he could to spend time with the actress alone, but the word was out. Keep him away from her. The problem was the show did not film locally in Los Angeles so someone was always on duty to make sure he did not get access to her in her hotel room or call her and convince her to go out. It was a 24 hour a day operation. He never got the chance and you have never seen a happier crew that a show was canceled.

It says the first show didn't last long ... Buffy was on for 6 years, so I don't think it's SMG. Don't have any other ideas yet though.

It's nice to hear about a crew that actually looks out for a female, especially a young one in Hollywood.

i wouldnt consider JLH a 'lead' on party of five nor do i recall her being 'very developed' (for most of the show's run), but guess it could fit. when initially reading i was thinking SJP and square pegs but the developed part didnt fit :)

This is DEFINITELY Jennifer Love Hewitt. I worked on the Birds of Paradise in Hawaii. Busfield hit on me too and was married. He was (is?) a giant alcoholic that I had to drive home more than once. Truth be told, he wasn't the only reason that people were happy it was cancelled. The DP and one of the producers (that also directed) had drug issues to. BTW - Love could not have been nicer...

That's the thing about JLH---You can tell she works hard, treats people okay, has no DUI, no arrests, no drugs that we know of--seems to be a total professional at her work, and at least a decent person with pretty good values.
But she's SO painfully CLUELESS in her personal life. It's just weird to me that while in some ways, her head is completely straight, in her love life, she flounders worse than me! And that's really saying something!

There's an episode of Byrds of Paradise on You Tube, and JLH is very young and VERY developed. And it only lasted on the network for 13 episodes....

I think some people were mis-reading the blind at first. The blind said that one of the A-List shows was a very big hit, but that the show when she was a teen was in a separate sentence. I think some people were confusing the show when she was a teen with saying that it was the hit show. Those were 2 separate sentences, just FYI.

Yes, JLH has now headlined 3 shows - Time of her life (the party of 5 spin off), Ghost Whisperer, and now, Client List. I think that's why Enty begrudgingly refers to her as a TV A List.
Yes, I just watched some old show that was directed by Timothy Busfield. Only struck me because his name has been in the news. Definitely qualifies him as B-list.

Thank God there are/were still enough decent people in Hollywood that they cared to keep a young girl safe from a predatory older man, especially since we've heard the opposite so many times here...
i actually have always liked watching timothy busfield act. i was a fan of thirtysomething and was impressed by most of the actors/actresses on there and have kind of followed their careers since. i am sad to say that i think the answer to this blind seems to be jlh and tb. its very disappointing when you find out that someone you have admired turns out to have such huge....personalty?.... problems.

When I read this, the only person I thought of was Kaley Cuoco. I had to look her up on IMDB to see her previous show. 8 Simple Rules. (I'm thinking John Ritter was not a creep). If they were considering a spin-off show starring her, she's A-list. She is now.

A couple de rigeur JLH defenses from the inside: 1) She is unfailingly hard working, incredibly gracious to her crews and co-workers, one of the most professional actresses & producers in TV. Truly knows her stuff, amazing work ethic. No drugs or hard partying. How many former child actresses can you think of (except Shirley Temple Black!) who are so together and in control of their lives? As for being "clueless" about her personal life - think about it. You're a child star who has never really lived in the world outside Hollywood. Your Dad abandoned your family when you were young and you basically supported the family your whole life. What kind of normal relationship role modeling have you had?

As for him: His arrest for groping his date in a theater seems like its been a bit blown out of proportion...given it was a situation where the girl in question was able to slap him and walk out. Maybe that is technically sexual battery, but then most of my buddies from high school would be in jail by now if every date they tried to grope pressed charges.
His rep in that regard is really bad, though. He's an excellent director and actor...but unless he's in recovery, definitely bites the bottle too much...very sleazy toward women...and has actually been witnessed saying to a civilian "Don't you know who I am?" Yep. That line in itself should be punishable by something.
Oh yeah, Ghost Whisperer WAS indeed a HUGE hit for CBS. HUGE. 12 million viewers at its peak, anchored the Friday Night lineup for 5 years straight. No other drama in that timeslot before or after has succeeded. Now syndicated worldwide and in ION and LIFETIME. People deride the show, but did they ever watch it? It had a huge following, especially among people who had lost loved ones.
