Today's Blind Items - A List Racists

Apparently when organizations that are tied to Neo-Nazi causes need money you would think they would be out of luck with what is considered a very liberal Hollywood. Not so. There are at least two A list movie actors who are huge contributors to several of these organizations and who would cease to exist f not for the generosity of these A listers. Each of them has given well over $2M to the organizations. One of the organizations is basically a front for the KKK but just have a more politically correct name. Others are more of a para-military save yourself from the onslaught of minorities type organizations. One of the actors is A+ list. Only movies now, but not so back in the day. Whenever he has been forced to work with anyone of color he makes it clear there needs to be some distance between himself and that person. He has turned down several great roles simply because they would have required him to work more with people of color. He likes his projects to be lily white. He has even told his wife and kids that he will never speak to them again if they bring home anyone who is of color.

The other actor used to be A+ but has dropped to A-. Barely hanging on to A-, but he has that name recognition which keeps him artificially inflated. This actor has always said that some of his closest friends are black people, but in reality, no people of any color are friends with him. None. After they have known him for a bit, his true colors come out and they want nothing to do with him or his politics. He tries to hide it, but has trouble. The first actor is a huge donor to the para-military organizations while the A- list actor prefers the KKK type organizations that are doing everything in their power to make life miserable for what our actor calls the lower races. He also only dates people who can provide a trace of their ancestry so he knows they are "clean." Apparently about a year ago he dated someone without checking until later and found out she had some African-American blood in her. Our actor went on a three day bender.

@ Vicki - Chuck has some very conservative views, but he had a black co star on Walker Texas Ranger for its entire 8 year run, so that does not fit with the description, along with the fact he is not A list.

@MontanaMarriott, Jeremy Irons still does TV, so that means he's unlikely #1. Also, he is foreign born and has an Oscar, both of which Enty would have likely mentioned.

@Sparkwee, Cusack is a Democrat and has written about his political views for HuffPo.

Jamie 2 said...

Actually, they've both worked with black co-stars. A+ just makes it clear that there has to be some distance between him and the actor; he has turned down projects.

He came from television and is now A+ in movies, and while he has appeared with black co-stars, there will be relatively few of those and more all-white casts. He has a wife and kids.

Who???

A- pretends to have no issues and lots of black friends. Mel was definitely A+ back in the day and still has name recognition. He is dating. He sound like a nut. He fits A-.

Enty has described these individuals as the antithesis of liberal Hollywood. If they are not liberal, that means they are conservative. Conservative is usually equated with being a Republican.

That's not to say liberals can't be and aren't racist, but based on the way this is written, the implication is that these are conservative individuals.

Earlier this week Ellen Barkin and Samuel L. Jackson both tweeted about how they basically wished Isaac would hit Tampa and kill all of the "evil" GOP people. all the stars kind of align here..?

I don't think #1 is Tom Hanks - Forrest Gump, Philadelphia, The Green Mile, his new movie with Halle Berry (Cloud Atlas)....and he's a very vocal supporter of President Obama. People really want him to be a secret dickwad, it seems.

I sort of like the Harrison Ford guess for #1, but I would be so sad and disappointed in him. Who else is A+ list that might fit? Brad Pitt? Robert Downey Jr? I don't think it's either of these guys, but for some reason Harrison Ford seems plausible.

I thought of Michael Douglas, but I'm not sold. I am staunchly against it being Mel because he did ALL of those lethal weapon movies with Danny glover and has kissed black women in movies. Johnny depp has a whole lot of native American in him to try the Lilly white card. Clint Eastwood has been on record about his love of " brown sugar", hence my motther's assertion that he should have married her... Clooney and schwartzenegger have both had relations with we "lower races", and for that matter, Mel as well.

michael douglas could make sense, maybe thats why his kid is so effed up.

im still not convinced it isnt will ferrel either though...

This works both ways, there are Black actors who feel the same way about Whites...
But that said I've also read there are plenty of actors who appear to be liberal and in truth are right wing...
For me it's hard to understand racial prejudice, I was raised in a liberal New York family and my grandmom helped register black voters in the 60's for as long as she was well enough.
As I've said before my best friend is mixed and from where I sit I have the most incredible bestie on the planet I trust her with my life..

Schwarzenegger is an interesting possibility for A+. He got his start in body-building - he may have done some TV too - but the blind does not say what A+ did before movies.

If you google his name and racist comments, you get results. A white male racist would have no problem screwing a woman of color, so the fact that he got the housekeeper pregnant doesn't prove anything.

[I feel kind of dirty suggesting anyone is racist just based on their politics and A-rating.)

I hope these are revealed.

I initially thought Tom Hanks for some reason but he is a know liberal, supporter of same sex marriage, etc. I agree with what others have said that republicans don't equal rascists. I think it would be very atypical and exceptional if a rascist was also liberal politically as the democratic party is more supportive of equal rights for minorities whether it be race, gender, sexual orientation.

@txtommom, take a chill pill and get real about who SOME of your fellow republicans are

@silveronyx, I take it mean the wife and children are not allowed to have any friends who are of color. Someone that controlling would be unlikely to have an open relationship.

bessanne said...

@silverOnyx-- i think it could mean just bringing anyone home. a lot of these guesses actually have younger children, it could be bringing home friends, assistants, nannies..

so i dont think he meant bringing home another man, but more so allowing people of color INSIDE his house. if you are that much of a bigot, i could see someone having an issue with having people in their house.

at least that was my interpretation...feel free to disagree :)

#2 sounds like it must be Mel

#1- it's actually frightening when you think about it how many A+ actors have had extremely lily white careers. It's vague enough that it could be quite a few people. Early tv is a good clue and Will Ferrell and John Travolta both fit that pretty well. Michael Douglas and Harrison Ford not as much.

MISCH said...

Charlize just adopted a black baby....

bessanne said...

Miss Crop-- i love Charlie Sheen for number 2. its pretty well known that mel gibson is racist towards some...but the blind could very well be someone that is not known to be a bigot at all.

i could see it. benders work, and his a-list has slipped due to the whole 2 1/2 men fiasco, but definitely has name recognition.

Anonymous said...

Thanks, Christina, Susan, and Glitter. I regret my use of the "f" word, but I just saw red when I read Vicki's second post.

The worst racists I ever saw in my life -- and I live in Texas -- were black attendees at an NAACP convention in NYC in 1987. My family and I were staying in the same hotel as a lot of them, and the way they treated the black staff was terrible. They called the bellhops "boy" rather than by their names, they snapped their fingers at other POC to get their attention and then spoke very rudely to them, and we saw one of them screaming at a black waitress that he was going to "get her nigger ass fired." My father stepped in to try to calm the jerk down, and he yelled at my dad that he was "going to bust his cracker ass" if he (my dad) didn't mind his own business. It was the only time I ever saw my dad nearly get into a fight with someone. My family and I were appalled at their attitude and behavior. And again, we live in freakin' TEXAS and my mother is from Kentucky. We'd never seen anything like it.

J-co, I do deny it. I don't think being a racist has anything to do with one's political party.

Err, Vicki said that since these people are racists, they MUST be Republicans. That is absolutely wrong and insulting.

Also, nowhere did Enty say that these people were Republicans or even not liberal. He just said that there are two people who give to racist organizations in very liberal Hollyweird.

If you don't like that, maybe you should look at the party you are affiliated with.

Ice Angel said...

Wow Vickie...don't you have a nice vocabulary...

I personally didn't mind the helpful list of Republicans and didn't take offense to it, but jeez...

I do find it hilarious that the Yahoo guy made the joke about Republicans loving to party while black people are drowing, yet no one cares that Obama is still out stumping all over throughout the whole Isaac ordeal as well.

But racism has many forms and degrees and these disgusting excuses for human beings need to be outed as soon as possible. It infuriates me that people like this exist and claim to be "Republicans" or "conservatives." It's a joke.

And by the way....politics doesn't have to viewed as a straight line with liberals on the left and conservatives on the right. In my opinion, it is more of a circle. Liberals on the left, conservatives on the right, moderates on the top and radicals at the bottom. I believe radicals whether liberal or conservative are much more alike than they are different, so they really should be at just about the same place on the spectrum.

To me radicals on both sides can only see things their way and have no tolerance for other points of view. The more you have tolerance, the closer you are to center. The less tolerance you have the more you start looking like the person you think you have nothing in common with!

The phrase "lily white" made me think of Johnny Depp's daughter Lily. I have never heard him being a racist, but then again you never know.

I agree nr 2 sounds like Mel Gibson but doesn't he exclusively date darkhaired Russian or Italian women? Don't know if they count as being "of color" but if he was that sensitive maybe he should stick to aryan blondes.

Ah well- onto the guesses.

#1 is Jeremy Irons, The Borgias is on HBO and is such a flop that it's nearly forgotten by critics and audiences alike. He and his wife have an open marriage. His most recent movie with a black actor is The Words with Bradley Cooper and Zoe Saldana... he shares no scenes with her that do not also have BC in them and very little dialogue between him and ZS. Before that, he hasn't worked in a non-lily-white production in nearly 20 years.

Mark Wahlberg not Brother

lazyday603 said...

Mark Wahlberg starred with Thandie Newton in "The Truth About Charlie". He had two black adopted brothers in "Four Brothers". Black co-stars in Three Kings, Boogie Nights and The Big Hit. He produces "Boarwalk Empire" which had a storline about the black community of Atlantic City getting revenge on the local KKK. I don't think this is him.

Mark Walhlberg - Four Brothers, black director, mostly black cast (four brothers from the same mother, two blacks, two whites) => Not him
Will Ferrell just starred in Casa de mi Padre, starring an all Spanish and Mexican cast, Michael Clarke Duncan in Talladega Nights, his kids must be five and two => Not him
Michael Douglas comes a very liberal family, and I doubt that the son of the very Jewish Kirk Douglas would be a closeted racist who gives money to the KKK
Ben Stiller - ditto, and Tower Heist

@bessanne There also the matter of a little Will Ferrel movie called Casa de Mi Padre that was an almost entirely Hispanic cast.

Of course, its ridiculous to equate all republican members with racism but their representatives are the only ones actively working to change voter ID laws. This overwhelmingly affects people of color to help prevent them from voting while it's already been proven that voter fraud is statistically non-existent.

Second, there is a difference between saying "all Republicans are racist" and saying "all racists are Republicans". The problem with the first statement is that it disrespects the party's Greedy, Shooty, and Churchy wings.

And before someone points out the recent study claiming that Republicans give more to charity, I say this: take church tithings out of the equation and then show me how the numbers stack up.

@ Texshan, good for you, speaking up on this thread as you have. I spent most of my life as a Moderate Liberal, and only in the last few years came to realize "wow, I've got more in common with Conservative values nowadays than I do with Liberal ones." The intolerance, prejudice and hate I've finally (!) started noticing and paying attention to in the media and on threads such as this (and have personally experienced) directed towards Rep/Con/Christians from the self-described "embracing, accepting, open-minded and inclusive" Lib/Dem/Progressive/Left-Wing types, has been a real eye-opener for me. A day doesn't go by that some "pandering to his/her audience" celebrity doesn't make a hateful, prejudiced remark against Christianity, or Rep/Con values of some kind, and then look around to his/her twitter posse for applause. Sickening and divisive stuff, for sure...

I am jumping on the Wahlberg train for #1 and Mel for door #2 - as for racism - both groups harbour racist colonism ideology, I am a card carrying Liberal and in my time I have come across the most racist comments and deplorable behaviour from those who attach themselves to equality and equal rights. Because of my skin colour assumptions are made regarding my financial status, my background and my intelligence. Even from those in my party - I am still a dues paying member as such, it affords me the right to speak out on policies or sweeping statements which paint all members of my racial community with the same brush. And for the love of God stop fighting - this blog is one of my delightful breaks in the day. I love the thoughful commentary and intelligent insight each of you provide me with on a daily basis. Racism is racism, Republican or Democrat, Conservative or Liberal..and in our case up in Canada NDP - gotta love a country that embraces socialism..even if I was harassed out of a job by a member of the NDP

so far no one at a Democrat National Convention has thrown nuts at a black person saying that's how we feed animals. I guess that's why republicans come to mind, rather then democrats.

recounting stories about revers racism is the worst form of racism and just one step after 'but I have black friends' remarks.

And yes there green, blue and dotted people who are rude but if one green person is rude to a green person it's just rude. if an blue person is rude to a green person because their are green, it's racism.

And I think it's Wahlberg #1 and Gibson #2.

AlexT said...

Well, the RNC is on record for throwing peanuts at a black camera woman and shouting down a puerto-Rican delegate, like, YESTERDAY. Not to mention all those voter ID laws. So it does seem obtuse in the extreme to claim there's no correlation between party and bigotry.

However, some of the biggest racists on the books were old-school Dixiecrats, so no one's clean.

Anyway, I'd support Chuck Norris for one of these. The More politically correct KKK sounds like the NRA. CN is a spokesman.

Mark Wahlberg sounds like a contender for #2 in addition to Mad Mel.

How the f*ck does requiring a photo ID to vote prevent POC from voting? Is there a huge dearth of driver's licenses or state IDs amongst the black or Hispanic community? Shit, you need to show a photo ID to write a check or go to the doctor. I don't think it's such a hugely onerous requirement to also show one when you vote.

Thanks, Dewie and Caydian.

And I think you are ALL wrong on who the answers to these blinds are. Racist #1 is clearly Betty White, and Racist #2 is obviously George Hamilton. Geez, people ...

Meh it annoys me when people jump in and defend this Vicky person.

She writes rude and sometimes ignorant stuff, and people will protest. If she herself has a problem with the response she gets, she should learn some manners. Well she should learn some manners even if she don't have a problem with it.

Another thought about US political scene. To a european the contempt and hate that seems to exist between some parts of your 2 big partys is mindgobbeling. I stare in amazement. Isn't it exhausting?

Instead of telling Vicki you disagree with her, why do you feel the need to jump on her constantly? Because she has a different opinion than you? HYPOCRITE MUCH???? Guess what, people are going to have opinions that you may be offended by. Take some Desitin for the butthurt, put your big girl panties on and get the fuck over it. You condemn Vicki for her opinion, but by being a bully you are NO BETTER than she is.

Second of all Hollywood isn't even that liberal, no matter what people say. They won't get near a cause if they think it will court controversy and lose them money at the box office, unless it's an Oscar bait movie. It's all about $$$$ in Hollywood, always. Polictics = second. Money = first.

And Britta-Jons - I defend Vicky because I see the obvious pack-mentality bullying that commenters here employ. In the real world as an adult, when someone has an opinion that you disagree with, you talk it out like adults. You don't jump on someone and tell them to fuck off. People should be allowed to have varying opinions here. Texshan is NOT the moral police. And she is being a hypocrite, she whines about Vicki being judgmental towards Republicans, but has no qualms about attacking someone with a different opinion than hers. Do people not see the hypocrisy??

caydian said...

@Unknown, who threw the first f-bomb in this unfortunately political commentary?

I agree with you, you shouldn't be able to jump on someone and tell them to f-off.

@MontanaMarriott - I know that Jeremy Irons has campaigned extensively for ending hunger in the developing world (mainly brown people) and is a very vocal advocate of equality issues, so I'd be very surprised if he was one of the people here. I don't know what issues you had with him personally, but from what I've heard about him from people who were his neighbours he just doesn't seem likely as a white supremacist. I'd guess more in the direction of Michael Douglas.

Katie said...

@unknown- what are you talking about? Vicki as the very first person who told someone to fuck off

Yeah isn't Mel Gibson good friends with Whoopi Goldberg?

It's hard to believe that actors in this day and age can be THAT racist. For #1 and #2 I'm thinking it must be people over 70 years old, who still think the KKK etc will flourish one day with their donations.

Ohhhh America.... Republicans, Democrats.... What a mess.

Canada isn't much better, but at least with our four parties, we don't get lost in this name-calling, pigeon-holing bull shit.

(That being said, while not all Republicans are racist, most narrow-minded cruel-hearted bigots happen to be Republican. This isn't a slag on Republicans, it's more indicative of an issue with the two party system. A new party should be created for those who chose to hate, as opposed to those who believe in the far more reasonable points for which the Republican party stands. Mel can be party leader.)

Now! said...

This is why Martin Luther King was a hero, because he talked about working together and loving each other, not creating escalating cycles of hate.

That serves no one, and as soon as you begin to demonize and dehumanize large groups of people, you lower yourself to the level of the people described in the original blind items.

Hatred is for losers.

A lot of racists affiliate themselves with the GOP. But it's a case of white flight, particularly in the South.

A lot of Southerners labeled themselves as State Rights Democrats, or Dixiecrats, until 1964, which is the the Voting Rights Bill went into affect. Others lefts after LBJ signed the 1965 Civil Rights Act into law. LBJ noted that Democrats would lose the South in terms of politics for at least two generations (40 years) because of civil rights. And he's right, even today, when we deal with 2nd and 3rd generation GOPers.

It's worth noting that many Blacks considered themselves Republicans until the 1960s. Nixon may have been the last GOP president to get a fair amount of the 'black vote' in 1968 or 1972.

The Republican party also has the burden of dealing with the Tea Party, who have proven themselves to be extreme in their beliefs. The movement may not have started out that way, but that's what it represents now.

When the fanatics of any party or movement become the loudest voices in the room, there's a problem. Many of these GOPers don't even like Mitt Romney because he's Mormon, not a true Christian faith in their eyes. But he's better than having a "Muslim n*****" in the White House.

Racism is a problem for all of us, as is ageism, misogyny, homophobia, and other topics. Even on a gossip blog, we can't manage to be polite toward one another on the issues.

So why do we hold hope for our political parties? They're people, just like us, serving as the cracked mirror for our monstrous reflections.

We are our worst enemy.

I gotta agree that all this politics stuff is getting boring and i would guess it is not the reason that any of us took our first look at CDAN today.

I don't have more to say about the lind except that Sean Penn's name has popped up occasionally. I find that hard to believe. Was his whole Haiti earthquake thing just a tremendous cover for his rabid racism or a most extreme case of reaction formation as a defense? I find it hard to believe. He's not that good an actor.

Well, apparently Meri has deleted her own post before I could respond to it, but her saying that "The definition of conservatism is retaining traditional customs and values" (and thereby, apparently, seeking to imply that this means Conservatives are in favor or all things old and/or evil) is absurd. What is "traditional" anyway? Her implication is that Conservatives are still in favor of stuff like, eh, slavery, lynching, and chastity belts or something, I guess. Me? As a Conservative, I feel that some new(ish) ways of thinking or doing things are counterproductive and ultimately detrimental to society. For example: am I against welfare, when it helps those who want to improve their lot in life? Absolutely not. Am I against welfare for people who just want to use it indefinitely, in perpetuity, and never move past it or ever try to get ahead? Absolutely yes. If that makes me evil in Liberal eyes, so be it. I want what's best for America and for all its citizens, regardless of their race, creed, religion or socio-economic background. I do NOT want whatever the latest fad or trend or meme tells me is popular. People often don't want what's best for them. They only want what comes easiest, or feels good. Plato, in Gorgias, had a lot to say about this. Democrats, in my opinion, tend to pander to their constituency, and give them whatever will keep them happy and content. In life, you have to move past single-minded happiness-seeking and move on to duty, honor, and responsibility: self-improvement, self-sufficiency. Thrift. Industry. But as I'm getting a bit far afield, I'll shut up. I have a feeling that no matter what I (or some other here say) we're going to be dismissed as "hateful Republicans"...
