Give the woman an award and let her go. The ex-boyfriend and his buddy also.
Amen!
Pomona as in California? Where did the crime(s) occur? What legal system is handling it?
I'm obviously confuzzled.
give her a medal
Oh yeah, let's just do away with our right to a trial and all that jazz and just kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out.
Not serious!
per Wikipedia:
Pomona College is a private liberal arts college located in Claremont, California, United States. Pomona is an exclusively undergraduate four-year institution and enrolled approximately 1,600 students in fall 2012.
Why give her a medal? This is exactly what the law is for. Should I hack somebody's hands off if they steal something from me? She should just be greatful she gets to see her kid at all
I appreciate the criminal justice system, but what rape victims are put through is almost as bad as the crime itself.
@shiro also, she didn't kill the guy.
I suppose I don't understand about her teaching in Geneva & living in France, yet on trial here. Where is her child? In France? That's where my confusion lies.
+1 Meanie, and don't forget about two wrongs not making a right.
Annoying details..

Found clearer info

She didn't kill the guy and nowhere does it say she asked her bf and his friend to kill them. All we know from this post is that she didn't turn them in afterwards so that's the only thing she did wrong.
A lot of missing information in this blurb? So was she only charged with covering up the crime? Did she tell the boyfriend to go kill him? If she knew who it was why not go to police? So is she some kind of hero? So ok if you get raped to kill your rapist- vigilante justice? Any other crimes where you think vigilante justice is ok?
The trial should be interesting.
I guess you're not worried about any slippery slope here.
@JackDucky, your g/f Cara D.just landed the lead role in "Paper Town"-a lot of well known actresses were vying for the part too-its a big deal.
:D I'm so happy! Thanks for letting me know!
However being an accessory to the coverup of a crime in particular murder is a serious offence and if she admitted to IDing her dead boyfriend she was an accessory after the fact. Clearly she fled the country to avoid being arrested.
Read the www.latimes/local/ article for the details
@Rhysie, you kill me!
WOW!
Really - Something's really REALLY screwed up in society today when convicted repeat sex offenders/rapists/beaters get "reintegrated" into society because of completing their sentence or let off early for good behavior ---
all the while
prosecute and jail RAPE VICTIMS (who didn't even commit a crime)
Yes, 2 wrongs don't make a right but HOLY CRAP! Seriously???
But then again, this is the "modern social norm" isnt' it? Applaud and support NFL STARS who molest/beat/abuse -- because SHIT!! that 24 case of beer and chicken wings while watching offenders BRING HOME THE UUUUHAAAAA is just THE BEST!
3 people knowing about a murder is too many.
The slippery slope of vigilante justice is not okay.
The look on her face says it all. Yeah and I'd do it again too. Don't f with me.
I think the scumbag got what he deserved.
This is a long post that speaks from personal experience, so consider yourself forewarned.
As a survivor of sexual assault, I learned that revenge and justice are two entirely different things. After I was assaulted, I wanted revenge. I wanted it so badly it was all I thought about. It was just something "black" that consumed me. It filled me with rage and hate. I am against vigilante justice. To me, it may just provide the victim with temporary satisfaction, but it could always escalate with the original criminals family retaliating. That's just my opinion, though.
It happened roughly 20 years ago (Jesus, what HASN'T happened to me?). It was my second date with this guy, who, to be honest, was WAY out of my league. All I remember from that night is taking 1 hit off of a joint (I don't really smoke pot.), and drinking part of a Jack and Coke. The next thing I knew, it was morning and I was on the floor. I had been sick all over myself. He was on the bed, awake. I asked "What happened?" He replied "You don't remember?" almost happily. I said "No" I was dizzy and my head felt like it was full of cotton balls.
He asked me if I wanted to take a shower and I said yes. He watched me take that shower. I thought it was weird but I just wanted to wash all of the vomit and diarrhea (sorry!) off of me.
I got a cab home and slept the rest of the day. A couple of days later, a girl at work asked me what happened to my eye. I have naturally dark circles underneath my eyes but this was a slight black eye.
I was getting dressed a couple of days later and, I swear to God, a voice clear as a bell said to me, "Look at your body". I had fingerprint-sized bruises on my right breast and bruises on both of my wrists. I had been so busy worry wondering why this asshole wasn't returning my calls that I was ignoring the obvious reason why.
I went to the hospital but it was too late. Any external evidence that might have been there had been showered away the next morning.
I called the police but the officer said, and I quote: "Honey, you admit to smoking pot that night. You admit to drinking. They will tear you apart on the witness stand. Just forget about it."
I couldn't. I ended up having a nervous breakdown. I still have no memory of that night. For that, I am grateful. Sadly, I think that I am neither the first nor the last girl that he has done this to. I also fear that there's a tape out there somewhere. I firmly believe that one of these days they (I believe his roommate was in on it as well.) are going to get caught and get ass-raped with a hot poker by the Devil in Hell (or in jail).
I considered myself one of the "smart ones" who would do "all the right things". I wouldn't shower. I would go to the police. I would never allow myself to become a victim.
This was what taught me the difference between revenge and justice. I lost a lot of "friends" over this. I also gained one of the best, most awesome friends ever.
I'm so sorry. I know this is a gossip blog. Please, just be careful. Always, trust your gut. If something seems a little "off", it probably is.

@Juniper, I'm so sorry that happened to you. What a horrible ordeal, and then to lose so-called friends over it. :/
I join you in hoping that scumbag gets his just desserts.
Wow @Juniper, thanks for sharing. That's an awful thing to have gone through. Did you ever get any kind of revenge? At the very least, I would have told everyone, including his future girlfriends/ wife, about it.
She came back to the US for a conference and was picked up.
@Juniper Girl - I'm saddened to read of your experience. I believe that life always balances the scales --- that "man" (more like excuse 4 a human) who did this to you --- will meet a befitting "balancing" justice. And probably when he most least expects it it when he most wants something.
@Juniper, thank you for sharing that with us. All the love to you.
Pedos, form a line to the left
I'm sorry juniper, I was date raped in HS and testified against my accuser- despite getting a conviction and 'justice' it's something that I carry to this day. :(
See...this is where she went wrong. She should have killed him herself.
Anyway...with that being said. This woman is my hero. She should be rewarded, not punished.
I think murder of rapists by their victims should become legal.

Junioer, hugs. I think there is a WHOLE lot more to this esperza deal than we have privvy to.
Does anybody find it odd that they made her identify the guy after they hacked him to death?
@Kno Won Uno a criminal trial is usually held in the jurisdiction where the crime took place. There are extradition treaties with most European countries although if the death penalty is an option, many times they'll refuse to extradite unless the prosecuting venue agrees to drop the death penalty.
I understand the impulse for revenge but what they did was wrong.
Oh, and yesterday? A man in Texas who was on trial for killing the drunk driver who killed his 11 and 12 year old sons, was acquitted.
Brief story, they were driving along, ran out of gas, were pushing the truck along the side of the road, this 21 year old drunk drive came along and smashed into the truck, killing the two boys. Well, killing one instantly and the other one died at the hospital later.
The father left the scene briefly, came back, was seen reaching into the drunk driver's car, I believe. Nobody saw him with a gun or ever retrieved one, nobody actually saw him shoot the guy and no gunshot residue was found on the father's hands.
The drunk driver was a young father, who is missed by his family.
Tragic all around.
HERE'S THE STORY
@Juniper Girl, I'm so sorry about your ordeal & thank you for sharing.& yes, your story does help others so thank you for that too.Hugs to you :)
@Bitters, hugs & my thoughts to you too :)
So she talks her boyfriend at the time into getting this guy, he and his buddy do what she wants, then she cuts a deal to save her own ass and rats out her old boyfriend.
What a piece of shit!
Thank you for telling us your story Juniper. You have tremendous strength.
That woman in the photo looks a lot like Lorraine Bracco.
@Juniper Girl, there was a poster on here for a while who went by the handle @headrot and talked a lot about childhood sexual abuse (which was apparently continuing well into her 20's with various people she met). Everything she wrote smacked of "poor me, the victim" - and whenever anybody offered her sincere sympathy she would attack them viciously.
You are the opposite of headrot! You told your story eloquently and without self-pity.
I found myself feeling a bit of bloodlust just reading your story, wanting to go after the guy and get revenge.
My type of revenge, however, is public humiliation rather than hacking him up with a machete.
Have you ever followed up and googled him, to find out what he's up to these days?
It sounds like he slipped you a roofie and then had his way with you while you were passed out, and NOT gently. IOW it's not enough to rape a woman after drugging her, he also wanted to hurt you while you were unconscious.
It's interesting that the social dynamic (I got the impression you thought he was a bit of a catch) had you confused at first. But your instincts kicked in - good for you!

YES to what Gayeld said!!
+1 meme! Some prosecutor/ADA looking for an easy way to "up" the department's stats.
JuniperGirl - I was raped and beaten in 1982, also a date rape. You are a survivor. Always remember that. Whatever your personal spiritual belief system, sending blessings to you! We have a totally flawed society/justice system (injustice system) with regard to rape and pedophilia.
...does this mean that Switzerland - which declined to extradite Roman Polanski - is cooperating in her extradition? #MindBoggles
No, I hadn't researched the case when I posted that. She came to the United States for a symposium a couple of years ago and was taken into custody then. No need for extradition.
I don't understand why she came to the US except she didn't know she was under indictment?
