Blind Item #5

Tabloids are such butt kissers. You have this foreign born actor who is also in a superhero franchise and they give him a platform to tell how his divorce has changed him and how he is an amazing person now and blah blah blah and totally ignore the fact he would still be married if he wasn't f**king everyone who walked across his path. Oh, and even if you haven't watched the superhero movie, many of you watched another one of his movies last month. From home.

What is the obsession with superhero movies lately? Does Hollywood have anything original anymore?

In a word: no.

Superhero movies don't even have to be good: look at that crap fest that was the Harley Quinn movie. ( it was so bad I forgot the name of it-- but it made a ton of money.) They are aiming at 18 to 25-year-old men who have disposable income. Think video games, comic books – – and superhero movies. And screw anyone who wants to see a real movie with dialog and no car crashes.

It's our own fault really: we say we want other kinds of movies, but when those are released, they flop. LaLaLand, love it or not, is at least different from what else is out there. And without the awards buzz, it would have come and gone and no one would have noticed. Chick flicks don't even make money anymore. When you spend $100 million to make a movie, and no one goes to see it, are you going to make that same kind of movie again? Not if you want to keep your job.

Your argument would be stronger if you weren't being so dismissive of superhero movies and comparing a genre to a single movie. There are good superhero movies made (Deadpool, Dark Knight) just as there are crap musicals made (Phantom, Glitter).

Also, quite trying to throw some stat you might have read or heard about TV onto movie viewership. The demo ranking of moviegoers from largest to smallest is 25-39 (24%), 60+ (14%),40-49 (13%), 50-59 (13%), 2-11 (13%), 18-24 (12%), 12-17 ( 11%). The data is put out by the MPAA if you are interested.

If it is McAvoy, although I'd say it isn't, good on the guy! His ex-wife was controlling and demeaning. She micromanaged him to such a degree that a mate who knew her and him as well joked Brendan was her second son.

She'd told him to turn down roles and which to take according to her mood and how it could help her life. She told him she wanted a temporary separation twice before the last one and he returned to her like an abused puppy both times. She also refused monogamy in the beginning but said she'd leave without the ring so puppy James did that too.

I wouldn't be surprised if she lined up the ladies he supposedly cheated with. It's almost two years since she told him they were done, he had to keep it wet somewhere I guess.

Whoa! This rings pretty true based on what I saw of them. Did you work with one of them? If you have any more observations, I'd love to hear them.

My comment was directed to Joel if that wasn't clear
