This athlete also has a massive ego. This athlete also is one of the best in their respective sport. And this athlete also is about to be shown they are not above the sport.
You see, this athlete is right on the cusp of reaching the pinnacle in their sport. Massive payday, marketing opportunities and championships await. But this athlete is about to be in for a rude awakening. This athlete is about to be reminded that it is very unwise to get a bigger ego than the higher ups. Having a bad attitude and being generally disliked by everyone in your sport will not help the situation either. The big payday, marketing opportunities and championships are not in this athletes future.

Doesn't really describe Connor. He's already at the pinnacle and has won championships and massive paydays.
Is there some new trend where athletes having big egos is unusual? Did I wake up in a parallel universe again, freakin' Mondays ;)

Bryce Harper who is a free agent this year
I thought of Bryce Harper too, because everyone figures he'll get something near a $400M contract. But he's not all that disliked around the league, and I've never heard that he has problems with "the higher-ups." The Nationals may not pay him enough to keep him, but that's because they brought up a new phenom from the minors so now they're loaded in the outfield. It probably won't make sense for them to spend what other teams will bid him up to.
Also, if he doesn't get $400M, but something nearer $250-300M, it'll be because he had a poor first half of 2018, and only got back to form late in the season.
As much as I would like this to be Connor, it doesn't really fit.
That said, I only watch real football and boxing so I have no idea. Serena Williams? Maybe she's too busy defending the 'best mom in the world' billboards though.

Neymar? Playing for PSG but there is a huge talk of him moving to Madrid. It would be a huge payday and the championships will come. He has been constantly diving and he lost a lot of respect during the world cup

I am also going with LeVeon Bell, he has thrown all of his teammates under the bus in order for him to get a big payday, which may not even happen at this point. I hope the raiders get him lol

I agree with Unknown, Bell thinks he can command $40M contract, but by sitting out, shows the line & Conner are doing well without him. And it's the NFL, quarterbacks are the money makers.

Nate Diaz does not play by UFC rules and openly calls them out all the time. They are not booking a championship fight for his Nov card(so they can say he is nothing without Conor), will not give him a shot at the belt or a third McGregor fight (payday). He sticks to his convictions and they hate that.
I'm with Jane and kudos to her on that one. Claressa Shields is being hyped up as a big thing in boxing. She only has like 6 fights and yet she's rated #1 in the world?? I call BS. Furthermore she's apparently a bitch AND she's got a big fight coming up against Germany's Christina Hammer. Shields got dropped on round 1 of her last fight by an average fighter. I'm rooting for Hammer.
Only thing is, female boxers aren't really all that famous so it COULD be someone else. Maybe the dude with the fro and the knee over at the NFL.
