Blind Item #7

This A-list movie / television actor has enjoyed a very long career.  He is an Academy Award winner / nominee for an iconic role you all recognize.   A little over 2 decades ago, this actor molested a girl who was barely a teen.  He wrote a pretty large check to the victim’s family to avoid criminal charges.  Despite this, our actor has continued his career in Hollywood.  Nobody in Hollywood had any problem with putting our actor on many productions filled with underage teens and tweens.  Molesting a very underage girl didn’t even cause a blip.

Victim was a girl... That eliminates Clooney and about 75% of the rest of Hollywood

Hanks is believable except he has to be higher than A-

Is it A- List or "A list" with a hyphen, as in "A-list" ?

So now Enty knows that EVERYONE in Hollywood is aware of every actor's fuck-ups? Is there a secret publication that shares these things like "Actor John Doe molested / abused this teenager / his co-star on his latest production. But he's available for your productions now!"

I'm not saying there are copious amounts of morals and ethics in Hollywood and not excusing the crimes. But when payoffs happen regularly, is everyone somehow expected to be aware of their colleagues' crimes?

Another possibility is Woody Harrelson (Larry Flynt)

This is an older actor, I think he's Hispanic and have pot holes on his facial skin Edmond something .. Can't recall his last name

Olmos seems to fit, iconic roles could be him on Miami Vice or Battlestar Galactica.

Does anyone guessing actually know what iconic means?

He's Oscar nominated for the iconic role, one we would all recognize.
I guess it could be Olmos ...

Still of Edward James Olmos in Stand and Deliver (1988)
https://www.imdb.com/media/rm103232512/tt0094027/

I was thinking Sinise as Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump would be more recognizable.

What about Billy Bob Thornton? Sling Blade for the iconic role. Not that I'd like to believe he'd do anything like this.

Sara, Making It Work said...

Oh I forgot Billy Bob did TV now. He's often my go-to answer for misdeeds. Hah.

Sandy are you a male or a female? I have only been on here for the past year or so.

Iconic role was from What’s Eating gilbert Grape

It's Edward James Olmos - this is from his Wiki: "In 1992, a 14-year-old girl accused Olmos of twice touching her in a sexual manner while they watched TV together.[25] Olmos paid the family a cash settlement of $150,000 in response to the allegations, but denied that they were true. He claimed that the settlement was in fact meant to protect his son, Bodie Olmos, not him.[26]"

Is Stand and Deliver really iconic, though?

So, somebody checked Edward James Olmos' Wikipedia entry, found this stuff in his Wikipedia entry and extrapolated from that.

The only issue is that the writer was so eager to accuse liberal Hollywood at all costs that he failed to notice that Olmos (like Danny Trejo, for instance) isn't exactly the guy you cast in productions filled with underage girls. Battlestar Galactica or Blade Runner 2049 aren't exactly tween-galore material....

Basically how most "back in the day" or "decades ago" blinds are written.
I guess we can look at them as "don't forget this person is a scumbag" reminder posts.

Of course it didn't. Why would it cause a blip? You new here, Enty? "Despite this..." No, more like BECAUSE OF this his career has continued.

Olmos' past became a big deal during Lorraine Bracco's divorce from Harvey Keitel and the custody of their daughter. Bracco was dating Olmos and Keitel used the past abuse allegation to prevent Bracco from moving in with Olmos and win greater physical custody of the daughter.

It was quite the courtroom drama. That is when the incident by Olmos was broadcast to the greater public.
