#4 - This former A list television actress from a very hit show with a huge following to this day has mainly struck out since and dropped to a B lister. Anyway, one of her former co-stars who is now just about an A list television actress in her own right says that she refuses to have any part of any discussion of any kind of reunion show with the former A lister because she is one of the meanest, people she has ever met and that life is too short to spend even five seconds with someone like that. Wow.

Funny dishy, everything I've heard was that Buffy learned her routine from Susan because she was so bitchy to her. Especially after she won and once again Lucci didn't.
Shame she was such a bitch though. That really was a well written and acted show.

This makes me sad. :( I do love that How I Met Your Mother is a mini Buffy reunion for people that Alyson likes though. Seth Green, Amy Aker, her husband....I think anyone that hasn't guested on HIMYM from the Buffy cast Alyson doesn't like.

Probs b/c Buffy and the Crew stopped Evil Willow. Some resentment is still there, I assume.

I know Sarah is a Republican/conservative, and does not seem to have many celebrity friends. Perhaps that informed or validated a bias against her. Alyson was spotted at an Obama motorcade and is regarded as a liberal. It seems like the Hollywood conservatives don't have a lot of celebrity pals - Grammer, Sarah and Freddie, Angie Harmon. I've also heard bad things about all of them as professionals and people. Could be one factor, perhaps.

I actually don't have a hard time at all believing this.I recently read an interview where Alyson Hannigan said she found out that BTVS was ending by seeing a cover about the finale SMG did for Entertainment Weekly or something.If they were at all friendly you'd think Sarah would have at least given her the heads up that she was soon to be unemployed.It's sad,though,as they were clearly friends at one point.I remember when SMG hosted SNL not too long after Buffy took off in popularity she held up a sign during the curtain call at the end that said something like "Hi Aly!Willow Rules!"
No knowledge of daytime tv cuz daytime work, but I'm so enjoying Susan Lucci on Devious Maids. If her talent influenced SMG's talent, I'm grateful for it!
@Tara: Susan Lucci is also a Republican so that wasn't the issue between them.
P.S. Alyson Hannigan is a pro, working from a young age, she can do no wrong in my book, love her in everything she's on! HIMYM good great writing, still its longevity is entirely credited to its strong cast.
This is probably because of Willow's envy for SMG's former success and her handling of it.
SMG's feud with Susan Lucci is probably because the latter was not as humble as she should with her as a kid.
I kinda agree with Tara, even one of the best people in hollyweird who is Gary Sinise, doesn't hang out with actors (except those from the Abe Lincoln's friends or something group) but with his friends from forever and music band mates, probably because he is a non closeted Republican.
Everyone guessed this... it's been clear for years that SMG and Alyson hate each other, for whatever reason. I've never heard ANYTHING about SMG's politics, who knows whether or not they align with Hannigan's. I doubt that had anything to do with their feud.
Do we have to bring politics into it? The hate each other, a bummer yes, but it happens.

Vince Vaughn and Adam Sandler are also Republicans, and have quite a few Hollywood connections. There are some who bring politics into any discussion (see d*head up there) as if that's the sole qualifier of a person's relevance. Politics had nothing to do with it.

I knew it! There was all kinds of gossip about tensions on the set in the last few seasons of Buffy. SMG had had an affair with Boreanaz for a time, and after that fell apart she was perpetually bitchy with everybody. It seemed to get a little better in season 4, but it didn't last. By the final couple of seasons, she wasn't even trying to be cordial any more. After Cruel Intentions, she was sure she was headed for movie stardom and considered TV beneath her.
Neither of the emanates the rosy scent of lovely behavior. Wait til Hannigan finds out what it is like to ne unable to proceed with her career.
I think BTVS is over and needs to stay dead in its coffin of nostalgia. I think I am probably too old to ever appreciate its charms. It was a perfect zeitgeist show and that magic ain't coming back.

Wow, so no one here knew about what a monster SMG was on the Buffy set? I guess it really did manage to stay a secret. It's too long to rehash but she was vile and everyone, EVERYONE not just Alyson Hannigan loathed her by the time the show was over: James Marsters, Hannigan, the entire crew, everyone. There are so many stories about how much of a bitchy diva SMG was/is over the years from all kinds of sources, not just the set, but also from stores she visited and hotels she stayed at and her pulling the "don't you know who I am?" line among other things. Stories of her being nasty to polite fans who came up to her and nicely asked for an autograph or picture and her blowing them off, story about how she told her then bf Freddie not to give a fan his autograph, calling the online fans "posting board geeks", I could go on. And a very well known gossip columnist/reporter at E!, also a huge Buffy fan, I won't say her name because I don't want to get her into trouble hinted many times SMG was a nightmare on set.
The most telling was the whole falling out she had with the stunt coordinator and her stunt double on Buffy in the show's second season (big blow-up about it at The Bronze, the official posting board for BTVS). Supposedly, Jeff Pruitt (stunt coordinator) and her never got along from day one and she got him and her stunt double (Sophia Crawford, also Jeff's gf) fired. She would never go along with his stunt directions and one time she got Crawford out of bed while Crawford was recovering from her wisdom teeth surgery to do a fight scene. According to Pruitt, SMG was jealous of Crawford getting more attention for her stunts and applause on set, blah blah blah, Pruitt sent some emails he shouldn't have, all got out of hand and eventually both he and Crawford were fired from the show (Pruitt claimed everyone else hated SMG too but she couldn't be fired since she was the star of the show so Joss Whedon let him go). It was all over the Buffy fandom online hangouts back then.
I so wonder how SMG is getting along on the set of her new show with Robin Williams now.
In hindsight, it's lucky she didn't do mroe damage to the show than she did. She really thought she was the second coming. Typical.
I really can't stand her. I was going to watch the Crazy Ones in spite of her, but think I'll pass now.
I was a big BtVS fan, but I was never a SMG fan. I had acquaintances who worked on the set, and they all disliked her for various reasons.

I think its telling enough that Joss Whedon never worked with her again. If Joss likes you he reuses you over and over - see Eliza Dushku or Alyson's hubby. SMG has never worked with him again since the end of Buffy, and doesnt seem to ever be seen supporting his projects... that bridge had been burnt a long time ago
No, news here, but Robin Williams is a sweetheart! I bet he won't handle SMG that well if she's a monster. He's being billed as the star of their show, and you can tell SMG hates it in interviews.
SMG has had a reputation for years, right? She started out on All My Children and was notriously at war with everyone there, demanding everything like a diva rather than a new talent to a daytime soap.

Susan Lucci is very old school Hollywood where everything and everyone is just wonderful, so it surprised me that she disliked SMG so much. SMG needs to work with Julia Roberts.
I have heard that everyone on Buffy couldn't stand SMG but love Alyson Hannigon. I wonder how bitter SMG is that Alyson got HIMYM?
I recently watched a documentary about character actors ("That Guy... Who Was In That Thing") - one of the actors described the worst experience he had on a film set about 6 years earlier: an actress, mostly known for a cult tv role, being absolutely abusive and horrible to the rest of the cast and crew, that the film director had to finally step in and tell her to chill the f-ck out. He didn't name names, but I did the math and figured out it was the 2006 film "The Return" with SMG. I'm sure co-star Adam Scott would have a few animated stories to tell from the set.

It's not just Joss Whedon who hasn't worked with her since. Check out her IMDB page and you'll see how little she's worked since Buffy at all, whereas the rest of the cast and writers all have worked steadily since then, even Charisma Carpenter's done stuff. The only one who seems to have fallen off the radar is Nicholas Brendon, but David Boreanaz, Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Head, Julie Benz, everyone else went on to bigger things just about. Even Danny Strong (Jonathan) who's now an award-winning writer, lol.

Funny...my boyfriend was just telling me the other day that he has a friend who worked on a production with SMG...not sure what...I will have to find out. But they said she's a total fucking bitch and the entire crew had to sign agreements that they would not look her in the eye for the duration of the filming. Long time lurker...love this shit :)

librariantobe-I was about to point out the same thing. Alyson Hannigan has worked consistently since but SMG has not. Never saw BTVS but for all those who refused to believe this is true (where's H'wd Dime to back up Librarian's?)there must be something there from that evidence alone.
If she is difficult to work with, that's a shame, I like her as an actress and loved Buffy.
@Tonya, I never watched that show but it's good to know. I remember Nick having some trouble post Buffy because of his alcoholism issues so it's good to know he got things back on track.
Sherry, it was very telling to me how SMG was the only one who wasn't interviewed for The Watcher's Guide. Every single actor was interviewed for it including the guest stars who appeared in one episode and were killed off, but not the star of the show itself, probably because SMG refused to cooperate.
There enough loopy broads around here we gotta have someone with enough of a psych degree to tell us what the big thing is about people not allowing underlings to look them I the eyes.
Is it just a "you're not worthy" thing? Is it the fragile egos get intimidated by direct eye contact? Is it just a childish demand becuase they can get away with it?

I don't know, I think in SMG's case it was an ego thing. Like I can understand being jealous of your co-star or attractive cast member but being jealous of your stunt double and not wanting her to get any applause, seriously, wtf? Your ego has to be massively fragile if you're that insecure. Buffy aside, I wouldn't be surprised if she had major psychological issues long before, especially since she always talked so bitterly about how her father didn't exist to her because he didn't support her acting and her parents divorced.
I am really so curious to know how her CBS show is going. She had to have cleaned up her diva tude somewhat by now but I wouldn't be surprised if she's still a massive bitch.
Bf worked on the scream video with Janet/MJ...they did the same thing...NO eye contact. Maybe this is seen commonly in the industry..??? It's definitely an ego/"better than the minions" thing...but for a fellow human being to have such heirs...seems like a deep psychological issue.
Alyson can't act and she still works. SMG can actually act and she rarely works.
I think the no eye contact thing is actually about focus and concentration, not diva stuff. Not excusing bitch behavior, though. If a method actor has a bunch of grips and extras eye-fucking them it might make it a little difficult to maintain character.
Mary Ann and Liadee nailed it. I adore the series and I think she was wonderful in it -- but I always believed the horror stories just as I always believed the stories about Alyson being a sweetheart.
And yes - if Joss likes someone, he works with them again. It's telling he never worked with SMG again. It must burn her that Alyson has had such a successful post-Buffy career. And I'm certain she'll get work when HIMYM is over. (But God I'll miss Lilly and the gang SO BAD)

The Buffy/Angel casts had a lot of crazies thrown together. A friend worked on both shows and said the only sane, well-adjusted actors were Tony Head, Amber Benson & Charisma Carpenter. Everyone else was either into drugs, alcohol, severely ego driven or just plain mean. If Hannigan wants to talk about being mean to co-stars then she needs to reflect on how poorly she treated Benson.
Late to the party, but I'll add that it was well known Hannigan was a c*nt to Benson.....sooo Hannigan is not the total sweetheart as everyone wants to believe.
I am not the biggest SMG fan, her acting never impressed me and I didn't think Buffy even had the best storylines compared to the other characters on the show, which made me think even the writers hated SMG. Also, it was Whedon who found out through the EW interview that SMG didn't want to continue on Buffy - not professional at all.
But all that said, I look at how SMG was raised by a single mother and she started acting really young, and I wonder if she is a bitch because she feels like she needs to be in order to be successful. Maybe she had to support her mom and now she's supporting her own family? I don't know. It's obviously not working out for her anymore.
Anyways, I'm still hopeful for a reunion. If Hannigan doesn't get much work after HIMYM ends and SMG's show will probably be cancelled before January and Bones will be done soon freeing up Boreanaz and Carpenter is tired of having threeways with Stallone and Marsters and Trachtenberg want to reignite whatever sick relationship they had, they can all go crawling back to the genius that is Joss Whedon and beg for a reunion. And maybe we'll be lucky, and Whedon will find a kindness in his heart to do one.
Who am I kidding? The show is dead.

And there's no way in hell there will ever, ever be a Buffy reunion because yes, that cast was filled with crazies who I'm sure couldn't wait to get away from each other (although SMG was still by far the worst).
@ian mcginty nailed it-I personally know at least 50 in the closet Republicans, myself, that are upper level posters, and I hardly know anything. Not sure why folks always drag politics into the gossip realm, I think its all that Jon Stewart/Colbert faux politics watching, and the way they've been taught to consider it a sport, and anyone not on their team, is bad. This is a totally false premise of the young and uninformed. Sad.
