So sad to lose two music legends in such s short time.
Cancer sucks.
This saddens me so much.
I do hate that people always refer to them as a "disco group" because they were so much more. Disco was only a part of it. Beautiful harmonies on lovely songs for so many years.
Thank you Enty for posting this tonight. I know you must have a life away from the computer, but I for one am extremely grateful to learn about Mr. Gibb's passing from you.
I am glad he is not in pain anymore.
Heard about this while watching NBC Nightly News.
This is just so sad. He really suffered. I can't even begin to imagine how Barry is feeling, having now survived his three brothers.
Saw the Bee Gees many times in concert - what a treat. And as Syko said, they had many hits that pre-dated the disco era.
Awe, truly sad. I'm also glad he's not suffering any longer. It was his time. RIP
What Syko said.
The Bee Gees were the soundtrack of my life for much of the 70s, 80s & 90s. My prayers go out to the Gibb family.
RIP Robin. I remember being chased through the school yard and ridiculed because of my Bee Gees lunchbox. I loved their harmonies, collaborations with other artists and the diversity of their music style. I have the same birthday as the twins and will miss them!
May has been a rough month - 3 icons, dead of fucking cancer. RIP Robin. :(
Such sad news. Our entire family is now gathered in the living room listening to our favorite tunes from the guys. Awful for Barry to lose a 3rd brother. Sending out hugs and good wishes to his loved ones.
So sad. Been playing Andy Gibbs I Just want to Be Your Everything - they all sang on that.. beautiful sounds. Also thinking about Kenny Everett's skit about the Gibbs. Makes me laugh still, but it was quite respectful...
I have to post it http://youtu.be/TsE-Dqok5mY This was from the 80's as I recall...
Seriously sad about this. I believe their mother is still alive. Can you imagine losing 3 sons?
I'm a big fan of their music and serious talent.
P.S. Though I love their disco music, as Syko said is true. They had such a huge volume of work and were pretty huge in the 60s.
So much before disco. And Robin sang lead on much of the early work.
In the event of something happening to me
There is something I would like you all to see
It's just a photograph of someone that I knew
Those gentlemen were always on my radar because they were true Miami people. Faced with enough money to live anywhere in the world, they chose my favorite little strip of real estate, where the sunlight and ocean and people were always perfect. My best friend managed a video store that various Gibbs would show up at, renting DVD's and buying candy. Such good people!
Wow, a Bee Gee, a Beastie Boy, and the Queen of Disco; all creative pioneers.
@Jennifer H. - we lost Levon Helm this last month too. Grieving for my youth here.
This has just been a terrible month for losses.
RIP Robin, I'll keep on playing your music.
Great video, love me some Bee Gees
Liver cancer is so painful--I pray that he found some sort of peace at the end. May he find his way home with ease.
Thank you for the music
Be at Peace
Be at Peace
Oh no....RIP Robin
Hey and Disco came so much later, they were really an all around 60's - 70's band who kept evolving...
1997 concert in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Best concert experience of my life. Oh, I am so sad. RIP.
SO sad about this. I have so many memories from various times in my life, with various people, when the Bee Gees were involved. Poor Barry with THREE brothers taken FAR too soon, all of them. And the rest of the family...my hearts just breaks for them. Even though everyone knew the end was coming, I'm glad he came out of the coma and had one more month to love and be loved by those closest to him.
I had to start the day by hearing "Massachusetts," one of my faves. Wish I'd brought SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER to work to jam to.
@AgentIt...my husband was at the 1997 concert, too!
My husband & I love the Bee Gees. He knows all their music, even our boys appreciate & sing their songs, too. Beautiful harmony! Still miss Andy & Maurice...Robin, we're sorry you're gone, but glad you're no longer suffering. My son learned to play This Is Where I Came In on the guitar last night. The music lives on!
Great photo Enty, These guys were so great, they will always bring smiles when though of and heard.
Rest in peace Robin,
you were adored.
@TSA - I make the kids watch the DVD with me every year on my birthday. They love it.
