I'm 5'9 and have given up my days of wearing heels, I just hate towering over everyone. Unknown said...: I am 5'9" too and at my last job my boss was 4'8" so I stopped wearing heels for almost six years and now feel like I am on stilts when I put them on. Can't do it. I have a crush on Stephen Merchant (The Office co-writer) mainly because I could wear 3" heels again and still be shorter than him.

Sherry said...: Oh you tall girls. Embrace the height! The Opster is 1.5" taller than me until I put on the heels and he accuses me of heightening. But I still love being a tall woman. However I cannot wear heels higher than 4" cuz it hurts too much and I feel like I'm going to topple over and break an ankle.

Robin the Mad Photographer said...: I can't wear heels anyway ("heels"="anything over 1.5" high) because I have weak ankles, bad feet, and incredibly narrow heels that makes shoes slip around on my feet, and because I would strongly prefer to not be a menace to myself and others. I'm 5'3" (well, at least first thing in the morning...), and I've accepted that I'll just have to wait for my next life to be a taller person; it's also part of the reason I don't have any issues w/shorter men--as long as they're at least as tall as me, it's good, and at my height, that includes most of them.; 3:42 PM

I think you should flaunt your height, it is an amazing gift and most people you "tower over" would love to have your height. BTW, 5'8" ain't nothin...I'm a 6'1" woman and am fabulous.
