Blind Items Revealed

February 3, 2014

This Academy Award winning actress blames her B+ list mostly movie actor co-star for the bomb that is their latest movie. She says he was a drunken mess everyday that was more interested in finding someone to have sex with each day than filming.

Kate Winslet/Josh Brolin

The premise of the movie was very boring. That is probably why it failed

I hate Josh Brolin for being hot and an angry douche. And for ticking off my beloved B+ Kate.

Labor Day didn't bomb because Brolin was a mess, it bombed because the script was a mess.

Josh probably didn't help, but I remember the comeercials for that & just being, "eh".

Spoiled, entitled, immature and controlling. Lashes out because they have no control over anything, least of all themselves.

That pairing seemed odd anyway. Plus the movie looked like it was stupid. But, you can't refute the fact that he was unprofessional. Can't blame Kate for being pissed.

From the trailer I had zero desire to see this movie. I don't think it was his acting, or lack of, that caused this to fail. And this coming from someone who paid to see Sex Tape. I read the reviews and told myself it couldn't be that bad. It was .

I love them both as actors but I only want to fuck him, so I'll give him a pass.

Never, ever liked Josh Brolin. Strikes me as a spoiled little bitch.

Another big man who thinks it's okay to beat women.
I wonder if it's small trouser todger syndrome. Vile vile man.

Its just U said...

You mean that Josh Brolin, the wife beating, alcoholic, violent, cheater was kind of a dog and unprofessional on a movie set?!?!
No Waaaaayyyy!!!

He's not that great of an actor, he can't hide what a dick he is in interviews. Never liked him.

I saw Labor Day and the movie was boring (Broslin was not bad, to be honest).

I'm pretty sure the movie bombed, because the script sucked.

Yay! I think it's the second time I've been correct & first! Too bad it had to be over this asshole, but hey, I'll take it.

Hate to say it but I would still hit it. Josh Brolin is hot! Granted, I would be hoofin' it outta there before dawn - wouldn't wanna piss him off by asking for coffee or something.

I had forgotten about their movie's existence.

Wonder how this would have been spun if the drunk mess had been Kate?

Joah Brlin always looks angry.

But I found the premise for Labor Day really offensive..Woman's life is changed for the better when she and her son are held hostage by a handsome escapee from the law, and she begins an affair with him. FFS. That's why I wouldn't see it. I don't even think Harlequin puts out plots that blatantly wrong and stupid anymore.

*Josh Brolin.

My keyboard is on the decline, lol

It was a bad movie. His being a drunk had little to do with that. Badly written, badly acted.

And Winslet has had exactly one real hit in her career. Almost 20 years ago. She isn't a "hit" actress. She is a low budget costume drama actress.

SugarTitz said...

he and sean peen are besties.. oh i wonder why??? and reportedly charlize is getting sick and tired of sean peens controlling bitchy ways in sa filming their movie.. ya think?? the bloom is off that rose now for sure..

Unknown said...

Sean: by that "one real hit" I do hope you're referring to her appearance in Extras, or Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind? (Titanic was crap)

A rose by any other name.... starts with a C.

Quel surpise! NOT! He is what he is.

I believe her. And I liked the movie. Might even read the book now. *ducks*

Labor Day was directed by Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Juno, Thank You for Smoking). His latest one premiered in Toronto a couple of days ago, and it's reportedly ham-fisted and absolutely terrible.
So, Brolin might not be the only person responsible for the movie bombing.

Yoj said...

Ridiculous to blame Brolin. Most of the great Hollywood classics starred drunken messes who chased starlets between takes. Ah, the good old days.

Unknown said...

It's funny how every woman in here hates him but if he hit on you, you know you'd do him. I'm sure you would run and tell anyone who would listen, all about it.

I think he's hot but I also think he's a douche for cheating on Diane with anything with a pulse. I think he was wrong to hire his lover to be his assistant right under Diane's nose. His assistant is a major downgrade.

Bee Haven , Spotlight was actually a a great movie, but not a huge hit.

Titanic was the only hit Winslet I ever had as the lead. And most likely, ever will have.Contagion was a hit, but that was an esamble. She has a part in Divergent, but is not the lead. Everything Unless she signs up for Transformers 5

AKM said...

@Sean - Uh, Revolution Road? (Or is it Revolutionary Road? Hell, the book's even around here somewhere...) And how many Oscar/GG nods? Some were for Best and not Best Supporting, yes?

SugarTitz said...

he was his character in goonies.. we knew who he was in the 80s, why are people still surprised he's a prick??

SugarTitz said...

gitit.. yes but it would be a shamefuck hatefuck..ducks..

@Sean, "The Reader" could NOT've been a walk in the park.
& again, "..Spotless"

Can't speak for anyone else here but no way in hell I'd do Brolin. I can think of loads of guys that are much hotter that don't knock women around. Every time I see him in a movie he's playing some dumb as a stump fuckhead or some greasy desparate loser. Nope. D-Bags are not my bag.

Sprink said...

Sean, let's define a hit. Because there are blockbusters (Titanic) and bombs (Labor Day, by the sound of it) and there's everything in between.

Sense and Sensibility did well, Eternal Sunshine, I'll think of more later.

Point is, I don't think of Winslet is in Sandra Bullock territory but she's hardly box office poison.

Come to think of it, most highly-acclaimed actresses tend to have only one or two blockbusters, and that's often in an ensemble (eg Blanchett in LoTR). Just a thought.

his behaviour probably didnt help but Ive got to say that that movie did was about as interesting as chipboard

Never liked Brolin as a person. He's an excellent actor, but off screen he always looks like he's on the verge of hitting someone or yelling at someone or causing a problem. I don't know why he always looks so pissed off. He didn't seem focused during the promotion for Labor Day either. Winslet always comes prepared on set; all her colleagues say she's a pro, so there's no question in my mind that she got frustrated with someone who showed up to work and did f--k all.

I think it's important to note that Kate is not a star in the way that Sandra Bullock or Angelina Jolie are stars. She's A list, but on a different level. She doesn't usually make blockbuster movies. After the success of Titanic, she made it very clear that she was always more interested in smaller material. She didn't put herself in a position where people expected her movies to rule the box office. People expect her to deliver great performances and get nominations, not to have one box office hit after another. It doesn't make sense to call her a "one hit wonder" when she was never a blockbuster actress to begin with.

It's not that her movies don't do well; they usually do, but on smaller levels. She just doesn't go after films in the blockbuster vein; she likes smaller stuff. She could've been a blockbuster star after Titanic but she chose not to.

She has rarely done anything that can be classified as a "bomb", so it makes sense that someone (or something) is to blame for what happened. People are saying "Well maybe Reitman was the one to blame"...but if Brolin acted like that every day, it obviously would've taken a toll on the whole working environment. That kind of shit affects a director and can throw off the focus.
