Blind Item #5

This former A+ list singer who hit A+ list solo and in a group somehow crossed a Mexican drug cartel leader he was doing business with. Now, the singer is being forced to come up with $10M or his famed business will be shut down.

Sammy Hagar. Was a solo singer then sang with Van Halen and he owns Wabo tequila in Mexico.

I'm guessing Ricky Martin!

Nothing else fits except he is wildly popular in Spanish speaking countries.

Sammy Hagar, the business being Cabo Wabo tequila.

I thought Sammy H originally, but he sold his stake in Cabo Wabo awhile back.

Thanks Khaleesi but I agree with Sammy Hagar guess below— great one!

Timberlake was my first guess as he'd be the only one who could possibly cough up $10m.

Sammy Hagar and Adam Levine started a new tequila venture. Makes sense that Hagar had 'connections' from Cabo Wabo that he's using for this project. http://www.santomezquila.com/press.html

I always remember "greed will always bring one down" whether it be money, power, sex, ego. ALL these sexual offenders fell into one or more of these categories.

Glad it's not JT!

How many restaurants does Timberlake own? The one in Hell's Kitchen (NYC) is named Southern Hospitality. The food is so-so. If it wasn't associated with Justin, it probably wouldn't have lasted a year.

Is Sammy Hagar really A+, though? I see him as the epitome of B+. Your grandma doesn't know who he is. Your grandma knows Justin Timberlake, however.

Hagar in news selling off properties.

Good call on Sammy Hagar. Definitely solo and in a group.

I like the JT guess. Only, I wouldn't call him former A list. He's still very active and still a hot potato in the industry---currently recording a new album, although he's been more into acting lately. He has a LOT of money. He's certainly not the type of guy who can't afford to pay his coke bill. What kinda of stupid ass coke dealer is that anyway to let the tab get up to $10 million?

Remember Hagar is in the R&R Hall of Fame from his time with Van Halen. I think Hall of Fame makes you A+, maybe?

I dunno. Lots of no-names in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - people who were influential but not household names. Clyde McPhatter? Hank Ballard? LaVern Baker? Probably all great talents, but not A+.

Sammy has his house for sale and cartel is very active in Cano.

Just to be different, I'm throwing Bono out there.

Isn't Bono perpetual A list??

LOVE the Hagar guess. Too bad, he's a fucking great guy!

Van halen are a curious band. Massive and influential in the US but mean jack s*** here in the UK.

Shame, the thought alone made him a million times more interesting than I ever found him before.

“This former A+ list singer who hit A+ list solo and in a group” - how could that level possibly describe Sammy Hagar? I mean, I love Van Halage and the guy’s solo work, but if anyone from VH hit A+ I’d say Eddie and/or David Lee Roth way before I say Sammy. Although they _WERE_ YUUUUUUUUUUGE in the 80s so ok why not.

Sammy. Cabo Wabo was HUGE and I am sure while he was involved with that he got to know LOTS of Mexicans in high places.
And this is what happens when you think other people are around to help or assist.
No, no, no...everyone is just waiting for you to slip up so they can pounce and take advantage.
Welcome to reality Sammy.
Now pay up.

Enty says "former A+" though, which absolutely fits Hagar/Van Halen. If it was "permanent A or A+ list" or even "A list" implying currently, no way, but he was definitely A+ as a band and as a solo celebrity (if not musician) in his time.

JT is not "former A+" he's definitely a current A and might even be headed for permanent at this point if the next album does well. He's been a household name for two decades.

Plus Hagar's Mexico connections...he makes way more sense.

I think this is Sammy Haggar. If you're into Rock & of a certain age, he's A+. Haggar sold the tequila line but still owns the Cabo Wabo Cantina restaurant & he sells the name's license rights for other locations. It's a big tourist attraction in Cabo.

I agree @ Nutty _Flavor.

Sammy can sell off some of his Ferraris to make up the 10 mill, he collects them. Everyone is assuming drugs, Enty just said "somehow crossed", which could be anything. But if anyone has the cash, Sammy does. He's been investing since the 70's, using his rock money to buy companies, and got extremely lucky with his tequila, that he sold to Gruppo for what, 91 million total?

When I read blinds like this, the hair on my arms tingle from fright! Was eagerly awaiting the next segment of NARCOS which will/would be about El Chapo. Then the poor kid scouting possible filming locations was shot and killed in Mexico. Certain parts of Mexico have become the new war zones. Makes Iraq seem like a Sunday afternoon at Baskin-Robins with the kids! Whoever you are, make sure your SAG dues are up-to-date to cover those medical bills. Don't think SAG covers funerals, though.

Not stupid if the IOU is from an a-lister. Think about it... 🤔😉

Haha Nutty Flavor -- that was funny. Sammy Hagar is definitely A+ from Van Halen but don't think he was A+ as a solo act. Part of me really wants this to NOT be Sammy.

Wooooo.....whoever this is, I'm glad I ain't them. Those Mexican drugs cartels are nothing to mess with.
