I'm sure he is not a nice person. But my uber driver in hollywood swore they were friends (ie he would drive him to parties) and is a nice guy. Of course the driver also said he could take us to the airport and instead his car broke down Mulholland drive. So maybe not that reliable on several fields.
Pretty sure if your partner is beating you, respect is not a factor in your relationship.
