Blind Item #4

This former one-fifth who has been fairly quiet this year is about to hit it big because it has been determined by the two program directors of the biggest conglomerates in the country that they want her to hit it big. She will be everywhere the latter half of 2019. This may or not be because she lept with one of the program directors and continues to do so.

Its a shame that in this industry you have to be a whore and not get by on talent alone. I guess this is the only way the fat, ugly executive slobs can get their knobs wet.

They take the whoriest of the most talented.

Unless you are Taylor Swift and your dad can buy you off blowjob duty, which would be better.

The problem with saying "as long as the person consents I don't see a problem with it" is that such an attitude leads to a debased industry / society. In any other industry people would see clearly that it would be illegal to hire only those who agree to have sex with you. You have to make the entire casting couch culture economically disastrous for the predators.

Proposed law: You cannot consent to sex in exchange for a contract or business opportunity, meaning, that the producer/director etc. cannot defend himself/herself by claiming that the sex was consensual. A "victim" can bring a legal action and recover as damages all of the money earned by the producer/director etc. on the song/album/tour/movie/tv show.

It would be similar to wage and hours laws. A person cannot, even voluntarily, work overtime without pay. If an employee works through lunch and thus exceeds regular working hours, he/she can always bring a legal action for unpaid wages. The employer is not allowed to claim that the employee volunteered. That prevents unspoken coertion to "volunteer".

@SDaly - actually the comparison to wages isn't true if you are salaried/Exempt. You don't get OT and are expected to work more than 40 hours a week if necessary. What you state is only true for hourly employees.

It's I heart radio and probably radio.com, maybe Cumulus Normani and Cabello aren't quiet they both have many hits. This is Ally Brooke.

At our workplace we're not allowed to work through lunch, unless we're leaving early. The supervisor needs to know ahead of time in order for that OT to be approved.

Thia said...

@shakey - you must be hourly and not salaried. Hourly people are eligible for OT, but salaries folks aren't.

I don't think this is Normani or Camilla. Cmilla is already launched. Normani has not been quiet this year, she has a song at the top of the pop charts as we speak.

It's one of the other three. I guess we'll see who in a few months.

Ally is the least popular of them all. Camilla has her solo career and Normani has been featured, Lauren and Dinah are releasing singles.

But where did they lept to? Must be a big LEAP!

Thia -

I wasn't writing a treatise on wage and hours laws, I was making a point that you could structure the law in a way that could curb, if not eliminate the behavior.

(All other readers - please note that you should consult a lawyer rather than relying on comments in CDAN if you have been sued or are considering filing a lawsuit).

And @SDaly, I'm just telling you that your analogy is wrong and you need to be familiar with HR laws before you talk about this. You clearly know nothing, Jon Snow. :D Actors and whores also aren't hourly (well, direct whores are, but actresses are not), so you don't understand the law.
