Some of the youngsters may not understand why the golden globes is an exercise in show business futility. Two words for that: Pia Zadora

Can’t wait for Rickey to tear these phonies a new one

MJ - Leo did get a nod for Best Actor

MJ said...

really? I hhave read the wrong category? Damn :)

Boozie said...

why is tom hanks a supporting actor for it's a beautiful day in the neighborhood?

Thia said...

I had the same question, @Boozie. I haven't seen the movie, but maybe it has to do with screen time?

The Globes nominations are for as many big names as they think they can meet and get to show up for the show. That's it

MJ said...

(yes, i did)

MJ said...

anyway, i like that this year the nominations include many new names and not the usual ones

Thia said...

Of all of the GoT actors to get a nomination - Jon Snow????

B626 said...

Billy Bob & Goliath shut out
Huh

Do Tell said...

Eh, these are on;y FHP awards. Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe DESERVE Oscar noms and NY Film Circle noms.

Still not getting the buzz over Marriage Story or Adam Driver. I found neither impressive and I had to walk out.

Nutty Flavor said...

No Adam Sandler for Uncut Gems? I loved the trailer, even though it’s totally not my type of movie.

Nutty Flavor said...

It’s a heist/action flick about a Jewish jeweler who makes bling for basketball players, not one of Sandler’s lame comedies.

Do Tell said...

Yeah, I heard he is really, really good in it.

Nutty Flavor said...

I see “Richard Jewell” got just one nom for Kathy Bates, nothing for the unknown who played the lead. Sorry, folks, but the film has the wrong politics for the Hollywood crowd.

Wow Monday must garbage day in the Golden Globes' neighborhood. I've never seen a list of nominations that I couldn't care less about. The only one that knocked it out of the park was Fleabag. I'm pulling for Fleabag, the magnificent Andrew Scott who lifts everything he is in, and the wonderful Phoebe Waller-Bridge whose talents know no bounds.

Otherwise, Bill Hader for Barry. Hader and Carrigan carry that clunky show on their backs with help from Root, Carden and plenty of other talented actors. However Winkler and Goldberg bring nothing to that show and I look forward to the episode where Barry smokes both Sally and Gene. Unscripted was an awful show back in 2005 and this bastard offspring only shines when it leans on it's hitman/organized crime leg.

I was happy when cable shows started getting awards, but i dont think streaming shows/movies should.

Brayson87 said...

@Count, Then you have never seen Fleabag. You'd love it, it's filthy as f*ck.

Thia said...

@Count - you have to watch Fleabag. It really is filthy and very funny!

Clark Green said...

Guess Leo's strategy paid off for him.

Flashy Vic said...

@Count. Fleabag. Good, far from the worst thing you'll see this year but I can't see how the over the top adoration is justified. A bit like an updated female Alfie (the Michael Caine movie version). Similar to the absolutely underwear soilingly funny Peep Show too, which is light years funnier and I'd recommend to anyone without a second's hesitation.

sandybrook said...

Tom Hanks is the to billed star of the movie, but the story is really about Vogel, so I guess Rhys is considered the star of the movie to these people.

gauloise said...

And Joker will only win for something like costume design, even though it is the only film that made an impact nad people enjoyed

I just saw the new trailer for Ghostbusters2020, which was released a couple of hours ago. Hated the trailer cut, how it was presented, hated the cast full of tweeners. I suspect I would despise it every bit as much as the It remakes. No thanks. I now need to find something else to look forward to.

Brayson87 said...

@Vic, I could see how you might throw some stones at the first season, it had more drama woven in with the comedy, but the second season with "the sexy priest" was perfect. People were talking for weeks about the "Kneel" scene.

Brayson87 said...

@gauloise, What did you like about Joker?

Do Tell said...

I can't believe The Act is still gettinng nominated for things, didn't it air last year? I feel like I watched it over a year ago.

gertie said...

we haven't even seen the 3rd season of The Crown, how can it and the actors be included?

Anonymous said...

The Golden Globes are just bought and paid for by the studios and production companies. They mean absolutely nothing. Same old same OLD.

Nutty Flavor said...

Season 3 of the Crown was released in November. They are currently filming Season 4.

Could you be thinking of Season 3 of comedy series The Windsors? No release date yet - they're probably scrambling to keep up with the real-life Windsors, who have been quite a dark comedy as of late.

Hotbox said...

These awards shows are just opportunities for the liberal sycophants of Hollywood to circle jerk each other & reward mediocrity.

AbbyRock said...

Have not seen one of the nominated movies or tv programs so don't really care about who wins.

BRAD PITT said...

i hope someone asks Tom Hanks about isaac kappy

timebob said...

I think it's shitty when lead actors get put into supporting actor noms giving them a better chance at winning. Hanks is Mr. freaking Rogers! how can you be supporting in a movie about him??

I'm excited for a Jen/Brad reunion I wonder if they will sit near each other and play up to the tabloids.

Do Tell said...

Why would they? They don't interact anymore.

@TeeHee, You might want to hold back that enthusiasm for The Oscars. For a while there all you had to do was f*ck Weinstein to get one 😅

Oscars are fixed. Goop as best actress and Julia Roberts with her push up bra!!hell no!!🤣🤣🤣

I havent watched Fleabag, really enjoy Mrs Maisel and GLOW though.

Aquagirl said...

Loved ‘The Two Popes’, JoJo Rabbit, and Parasite.

The Nightingale should have been nominated and it's cast.

Count Jerkula said...

Shocked that so many recommended and touted Fleabag. First scene of the pilot the broad, by todays standards, gets ass raped. She didnt verbally, explicitly consent to her anus being violated. Silence is not Yes, as we constantly hear broads say "i froze up" when asked why they let an assault happen. I am appalled the site is littered with people of such low morals. Sure, i enjoyed it (woulda been better if that broad showed her squishy bits) & kept watching but i am a scumbag. I almost had to pause the show 90 seconds in to search pornhub for "czech street hook up anal" and finish off (one real good scene of a young whore takin it in the dumper on a staircase, cause she say she a virgin).

This garbage is awarded based on who slept with who.

If it were based on talent and performance, Annie Potts (Young Sheldon) and Cecily Strong (SNL) would be nominated.
