Blind Item #8 - Reader Blind

The diehard and fanatical fans of this foreign born singer who is A/A+ in his native country and who has a new album coming out soon would be surprised to know certain aspects of his real life that are seemingly in contradiction to the public persona he has built up over the years in lyrics, in interviews, and even in his own autobiography.

For one, he has at least two illegitimate children, the result of encounters while on the road. One was conceived during his time in a now defunct band that is still popular today.  He has always been coy about his sexuality, he is bisexual, but in fact, contrary to popular opinion, he has had more relationships with women than men.

Also not known is his violent temper.  He headbutted a promoter in the early days breaking the man’s eye socket.  He put a former bandmate in the hospital and has been known to get into fights in pubs.  He is bigger and stronger in real life than he appears on TV and in videos.

He has always downplayed the fact he was a very good athlete as a teenager but, despite his statements mocking this, has always been into working out especially in his glory days several decades ago and travels with a personal trainer.

Those who have met him during unguarded moments have also commented on the fact that his natural speaking style is much coarser and working class than the affected voice he puts on in interviews.  He grew up in a tough neighborhood and this reflects that.

The last couple years, this singer has been in trouble for comments he has made.  Those comments are in fact closer to who he actually is and what he actually believes which reflect a certain type of character named after a hairstyle he sang about in some of his earlier songs.

Good guess Unknown, especially with the Smiths as the band.

"In January 2020, Morrissey announced the release of an 11-track album I Am Not a Dog on a Chain for 20 March. The first single, "Bobby, Don't You Think They Know?" sung with Motown soul artist Thelma Houston, was also made available on streaming sites.[262]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suedehead_(subculture)

"The suedehead subculture was an early-1970s offshoot of skinhead subculture in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Although sharing similarities to 1960s skinheads, suedeheads grew their hair longer and dressed more formally.[1][2] Although often working class like skinheads, some had white collar jobs. A female suedehead was a sort. "

The only news here is that he has two illegit kids, I hope he supports them. Morrissey is a well known prick, and even celebrated for it by his fans. Doesn't he have cancer? And even toured sick? If he was Canadian they would be considering him to go on the $5 dollar bill, as is Gord Downie from the Tragically Hip is.

The original 60's skinheads were a product of the Mods, loved ska/reggae music and were anti-racist. The 70's version were utter racist thugs. morrissey was f***ing his drummer during the entire time of Smiths. like all bitter closet cases, he's a violent racist ass*** in his old age. Thank f*** I preferred The Cure.

gauloise said...

I can't find anything about him and the drummer being lovers. That was Culture Club, Boy G and John Moss.

There's a really good movie, This is England, about the early days of the skinhead movement and how it actually was kind of a melting pot with recent Jamaican immigrants

Morrissey fits the rest, with his Brexit comments and I could totally see him punching out Johnny Marr

I dont think Morrissey was ever a bitter closet case, just not into the press in generaal. Bitter about the overall state of humanity more than his sexuality. Any grown man who sings about Oscar Wilde isn't really hiding anything.

Morrisey a "closet case" ?

We knew from the very first Smiths record that he was gay/bi, so what he didn't publicly come out, it's in his lyrics.

And most assumed from early on he and Johnny Marr were a thing.

Tricia13 said...

or saw him dance in "November Spawned A Monster" video @gauloise lol!

Yeah there is very little in this blind that anyone would find surprising except he has kids.

So Morrissey is an asshole to the core?

I may never recover from this revelation.

AngelSleuth said...

@HushHush Even if Morrisey was Canadian he is not remotely close to Gord Downie and his legacy.

Mind you Morrisey still has a large following in Canada.

Morrisey is such an ass. Cancels shows regularly, without regard to fans.

I have never understood the fanatical love for "Borrissey." For instance, here in Los Angeles he is adored by a faction of Mexican kids into the whole fifties vibe. I don't get it - lol
His arrogance and attitude towards promoters and venue owners alike trickle down to his fanbase. Yet, they still worship this prick! Again, I don't get it. The guy is the worst.

Thanks for the little story Tricia, I always like to hear a first or second hand account.

You are welcome Hunter. It was last year and I remember being so upset I could t go(try sisters etc all had pix up on SM). I wasn’t around. Then I went home last summer for a visit and fam (who run the show ) told me what a jag off he actually, truly is. I’m 30 years no meat-influenced by him to a degree);had a massive crush like many a gal and boy- but the rep is deserved. Total Diva and wouldn’t dare “Dane” to speak with fans...... or Management. Kill your Idols, man

Love the Mozz! Saw him at the Lunt Fontaine during his NYC residency last May and hubby and I have met him. He’s always been wonderful to us. He’s been wrongly vilified by the Guardian-esque woke crowd who throw around the word racist like a used rag. Love, love, love him and he has been my #1 for decades!

Back in the 90s, I saw Tool … Morrissey was also pretty big at the time. I am a huge MJK fan to this day... and while I imbibed (as one does/did in the 90s at a Tool show), I swear MJK in one of his between songs riffs said "The other night, while I was fucking Morrissey in the ass and beating him in the back of the head...." The crowd went WILD!!! He's a mesmerizing performer (at least he was back then) but that is the only thing I remember about his in between song rants.....

Taken from comments here r.e. Morrissey
https://www.celebheights.com/s/-Morrissey-746.html
"I’ve been lucky to meet him and get a hug from Morrissey in 2013. I’d say 5 ft 10 1/2 is about right. He is a sturdy guy though, with some of the broadest shoulders I’ve seen up close and a very thick neck and a big head, like others have said. He leaned in to give me a hug because I couldn’t get my small arms around his shoulders!"

"5'11" seems accurate. He bumped into me in a restaurant doorway and I remember being surprised at how big he really was. He's not just tall, he has a rather large frame. His head is twice the size of mine. Dude's got a big head. A Charlie Brown head."

Lost all respect for Morrissey when he walked off stage in Tucson a few years ago after only 30 minutes and 6 songs. I wasn't there, but a lot of my friends were and they said he was total a-hole both to the audience and the people with whom he interacted.
