The book is "American Dirt"
Well no sh!t Sherlock, that's just one of her side gigs.
My Boo, Big Ol' Oprah
Umm, is this really blind worthy? She is just like, I dont know, a Brand Ambassador/Influencer for the publishing house!
Sigh, isn't anything public done without being a product placement or paid endorsement?
The latest thing I've been noticing is talk shows giving full segments to Drs and celebs (with full disclosure that their appearance is a plug for a product,to be fair) doing extended commercials for certain products. Dr.Ian, chefs, etc. Then cut to two+ more minutes of traditional commercials.
hasnt anyone figured out shes as bad as the rest of them? she should have been shunned a long time ago. and that fucockta friend gayle king. geesus what a con.
I heard "American Dirt" was been criticized as being inaccurate, possibly racist, possibly because it was written by a privileged American.

During a trip to Mexico to visit family, writer Myriam Gurba took “American Dirt,” a novel about immigration and cartel violence that was being touted as one of the biggest U.S. releases of 2020. The writer was of mostly white descent, and Gurba felt the book didn’t ring true.
“I was reading the book in Parque Revolución in Guadalajara. I’d look up and see real Mexico,” said Gurba, of Long Beach, California. “I’d look down back at the book and see fake Mexico.”

But Oprah does love the shady books for her book club:
However, approximately one month before the release of the book, a negative review from Myriam Gurba was published in Tropics of Meta.[15][16] Then, a week before the release of the book, a string of critical reviews was published, starting with a review in the New York Times.[17][15] On the same day as the book's release, Oprah Winfrey announced that American Dirt would be the 83rd book chosen for Oprah's Book Club.[18]

Fascinating, the book has been accused of both cultural appropriation and "trauma porn" wow.

That's Orca's nickname...
The book is fiction people are insane of course it is not suppose to be "real" ! So sick of the PC BS !!!!! I can't stand Oprah never could watch her ,sick witch.
Probably means the book contains a lot of non-narrative info is the far-left are screaming about it that badly.
Well it's been optioned for a film adaptation, maybe ScarJo can play the protagonist.
The book has been pulled something happened.
This is so sad. Years ago a relative in MA told me about how CENTERVILLE PIES got a chicken pot pie to Oprah staying closeby for some event. She LOVED it and then put it on her favorite things list. Not some huge biz paying her for publicity but a local shop that sudden got a deal with WILLIAMS SONOMA to carry their pies over the holidays for delivery. It was a true Cinderella story for a small business and Oprah LOVING a product and toting it because of this.
Kiki-- the way it should be, and we're led to believe that it is/was. I have to say, even once I started to catch on that many show's giveaways were donated promos, I DID think Book Club was a genuine pick! Now I want to drown my disillusionment in a chicken potpie!
Poor Orca, no more Weinstein to pimp for.
The two greatest things Oprah did for America was putting a spotlight on Ms. Maya Angelou and exposing black families for covering up generational family sexual abuse.
Even a work of fiction can still show respect towards the ethnicity it's written about. Funny how people love to say that political correctness is a form of opression. It is not. The call for political correctness is a call for basic human RESPECT. You don't get to call people of races other than white out of their name anymore. You don't get to refer to women as bitches and whores and treat them like mindless breeders and/or cunts on legs. You don't get to make fun of other people's cultures/ethnicities and insist on harmful stereotypes in order to elevate your own. Not without getting called out for the lack of respect. Don't like it? Too fuckin bad. People of color, women, pretty much anyone who is not a straight white male whom the world has revolved around for too fuckin long now are tired of the mistreatment and abuse.
Oprah and Macmillan Publishers.
It's some Puerto Ricans chick who wrote about Mexicans. Calm your SJW tits over the whole cultural respect bullshit.
