Caylee Anthony's Grandparents Still Haven't Seen The Light

In a deposition Thursday, both of Caylee Anthony's grandparents were asked about Casey Anthony and whether they thought she had anything to do with the death of Caylee. If you want to read a lot of the quotes from the deposition, you can click here. But the gist of it is that Caylee's grandfather still buys the story that Casey was kidnapped and killed by the nanny.

Meanwhile, grandma says that while Casey sometimes lies, she thinks she is doing it now to protect Caylee and the rest of the family. What does that mean? I will tell you what it means. I still don't believe that grandma and grandpa didn't know what was going on or what went on. They would have to be the densest people on earth. Of course, the fact they still believe the nanny did it kind of makes it seem they really are that dense.

They don't believe the zanny nanny did it. They are trying to save Caylee. The evidence is so damning. Acoording to someone on Nancy Grace the other night, the same soil from where the body was found was also on Casey's shoes.
This is an extemely disfunctional family, and Casey isn't the only liar.

oops, save CASEY

If he didn't think she did it, why exactly did he consider suicide then?

Denial is something that's hard to reckon with. It can't be easy to reconcile that your own flesh and blood could do something so horrible.

i've come to the conclusion that the kid is better off.

Captivagirl is right. As a general rule, people who are capable of murdering their own child (or really, capable of murdering ANYONE) came from homes that were not sane.

Casey came from some screwed up parents and now they probably think they're doing the right thing by "standing behind" their daughter. They don't see, and probably have never seen, that doing the right thing involves being willing to deny their child something she wants--in this case, unquestioning support.

I think they are lying through their teeth if they claim to believe baby-killer. It's too late to recant now, without incriminating themselves so they LIE. To some degree it is probably saving face, too. "Yeah, I'm the proud parent of a baby killer" doesn't sound so good. But they should honor their granddaughter and rat that murdering bitch out. I think they have a LOT to hide, such as aiding and abetting the situation, and too late now to tell the truth and risk getting prosecuted.
They are ALL trash. That poor little girl, she was doomed either way to live and be formed and nurtured to become like them or in having her life taken. Tragedy, plain and simple.

I kind of feel somewhat bad for them. I really doubt they wanted their grand-daughter to end up dead. Obviously they didn't want to believe their daughter did it. Now they are just in a denial twilight zone. Life is never going to be normal for them again. If it ever was to begin with.

I agree with what most of you have said, especially Winston Ono. It is hard to deal with the fact that your flesh and blood has done something so awful. I say that with compassion, HOWEVER, at some point you need to do the right thing. It may not be easy, but in the name of this little girl, they must tell the truth, even if it implicates them somehow.

I read where Scott Peterson's Mother knew he was guilty, but still didn't think he should pay for what he did. The Anthonys have to know what time it is, but just can't bring themselves to condemn their daughter.

What has always bothered me was the change in attitude of Grandma. Early on in taped telephone conversations she's asking Casey outright about Caley, so obviously she suspected that her daughter was capable of harming her granddaughter. Now the Anthonys are defending Casey. I don't get it.

I'm not a lawyer, that's Enty's job, but it would seem to me that the defense attorney would be telling the parents that they need to support her in order to help with her defense. As far as her family being messed up, agreed. Casey's actions and behavior appear to be very typical of people with borderline personality disorder (not diagnosing, only suggesting). They can be very manipulative, are very needy and, I am sure she blames her parents for everything that is happening to her. A guess might be that Casey was molested or abused in some way as a child, not necessarily by a parent, and she has been using that as leverage against and blaming her parents ever since.
I also agree that dad knows she killed her kid, which is why he attempted suicide. I think Casey guilt tripped him into believing all of this was, somehow, his fault, and he agreed.

I have followed this case from day 1 and it just infuriates me. I watched clips of the depos on Nancy Grace(yeah, I know...). There is no doubt in my mind why Casey is crazy. Those 2 people, Cindy & George are WACKOS. No wonder Casey is a nutjob. I can understand grieving; I can understand wanting to stand by your child, but I CANNOT stand how they are lying and trying to blame someone else...WHO DOESN'T EXIST! They should have just come out and said that they know the wackjob daughter killed that gorgeous child and tried to convince her to cop a plea. And the brother? He's wacko, too. Sorry...just my opinion!!!! As my son would say, I'll shut up now!!!

casey's mother is as crazy as she is. ol' george is just kinda there. i don't know if they knew at the time she killed caylee, but i think they had a pretty good idea after they got a whiff of that car. once the shit hit the fan, they did what they've always done---went into 'help casey' mode. this is a pathological family--all of them.

so i guess they think there's ANOTHER zanaida gonzales out there who killed caylee? not this one---another one.

yeah, that makes sense.

I can't believe they didn't know. I think they don't want to admit they spawned and raised the soul-less bitch they did. I do think they contributed or enabled her behavior. I hope that poor child haunts them ALL the rest of their lives. Sorry It just burns me that God/Fate gives the wrong people kids.

i hope all three rot in hell. what about standing behind their grandaughter?
they are completely dishonoring her life by standing behind her murderer.

your fuckin kid killed your grandchild, relationship over for me.

nancer said...

amen. that's the whole point. who's sticking up for caylee? all of us---but not her own family.

casey killed her, but the parental units (i can't call them her 'mom and dad') cannot be held blameless in this.
after the way it turned out, casey should have gone ahead with an abortion. it would have been kinder than this.

I am in a similar situation as Cindy Anthony was, my 21 year old daughter and her 2 1/2 yr old live with me. In her deposition she testifies Casey left on June 16th without any clothes packed for Caylee - for an exteneded time. If my daughter took off without clothes for my grandaughter, and kept telling me she was "asleep" or with a "nanny", I would most certainly know something was horribly wrong - especially for that length of time (30 days). I think Cindy is feeling very guilty, and her feelings are keeping her in deep denial of the truth, which when we all see the evidence collected so far, point to her daughter being guilty of such a horrific crime of killing her own little angel..... :(**** It is all just a sad sad thing for that poor little angel Caylee.

I think McDooks and Jenny S are onto something - perhaps Casey has threatened to rat her parents out on some kind of complicity or something that has happened in the past, so now they play nice with her.

jenny s., this goes way beyond borderline personality.
this was a sociopathic act.
not knowing what the truth is with mom and dad, i can't begin to hazard a guess, except i buy they are doing what the lawyer is telling them to do.
i'm sure they will be thoroughly investigated, but in the end, i have a hunch they are only guilty of stupidity.

God, I feel sorry for George. No wonder he tried to end it - after watching the tapes of the deposition you can get a sense that Cindy is not a nice person. I think he seems like a decent man with a broken heart.

How about that cowboy-looking guy on Nancy Grace, the one who bailed her out and then wished he hadn't, he said that Zanny the Nanny is really code for when Casey gave the kid Xanax to put her to sleep so she could go out with her friends. She commonly referred to Zanny the Nanny as her babysitter, but she never really meant a real person. I believe that guy, he's totally credible. It's the hat.

All Casey Anthony needs at trial is reasonable doubt in order to get off. With the parents continuing to spout that Casey is innocent, they are planting the seeds. The defense attorney told them to do this. They are doing what they can to save what they have left.

I agree that George is the sane one and Cindy is bonkers. You can see where the craziness in Casey came from - her mother!

The parents know that Casey killed Caylee. Again, they are just trying to save what they have left.

Poor Caylee.
