Mischa Barton Still In The Hospital

When Mischa Barton was admitted to Cedars Sinai on Wednesday she was placed there under an involuntary psychiatric hold. That hold lasts 72 hours which means she could have been released as early as Saturday afternoon. She wasn't and so someone there must think she still presents a danger to herself or to others. The rumors and stories that came out over the weekend suggested or implied or speculated that she had gone on a 3 day coke bender and that her friends were actually the ones who called the police and not Mischa herself.

The reasons given for the bender were that she couldn't find love and that she was running out of money. Well, if you are running out of money I think the last thing you would want to do is spend it all on coke. I know, I know, she is an addict, I'm just saying that what you and I think of as running out of money does not probably have the same definition as her.

Meanwhile production on her new television show has been pushed back from July 22 to the 31st. The show, which is called Beautiful Life is about a bunch of models. Mischa was supposed to play an older, more bitter model who is trying to remain relevant and get work in the face of younger competition. I'm guessing that even with the delayed start that Mischa probably isn't going to make the first day of shooting. She sounds like she could use at least 30 days, if not longer in rehab and even when she gets out of rehab, if you are a producer of the show, are you going to take a chance on her? I think Mischa just needs to focus on getting better and not try and delude herself into thinking she is ok or healthy enough to start filming a show every day and all the pressure that accompanies it.

honestly, i know she's an addict...but i'm having a hard time feeling sorry for her. she brought this upon herself. sooner or later we must all dine at the table of consequence.

I hope this is her rock bottom and she gets the help she needs to recover because I want things to go back to the way they were: with me completely ignoring her.

The problem with drug addiction is (as Coleridge noted two centuries ago) that the hand that reaches for the drugs is theoretically your own, so a kind of divided consciousness exists: you want to get high, you want to stop. Me, I gave up hard drugs when I was homeless and on the verge of death. An addict won't stop as long as there are available drugs, enabling companions, and cash. Unless a miracle intervenes, as it did for me.

I've seen some clips from The Beautiful Life, and she is absolutely horrific. The show needs to dump her, and she needs to take the time to pull her life together.

I don't know, I've laughed as hard as everyone else watching her behaviour and hearing her ridiculous statements but this is serious.
How bad must she be to be placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold?.
Whether it's her own fault or not it's a sad development. I saw rehab in her future but not this.

I'm with Pookie and Isabel on this one.
I'll project my same feelings on Mischa that I have about Jessica Simpson. There is damn sure somebody out there who will treat her right and give her the love she craves, and it ain't gonna be found in H'wood.

Get your act together, or get the hell out of the limelight.

I also agree with Pookie and, on a side note, really like what they(Pookie) did with that quote.

well since she showed such a fine example to her sister to get started on drugs, maybe this will be a another ringing endorsement to get off drugs.

Can you imagine her parents and how they feel? Both girls drug addicts. What happened there? Anyone know what kind of parents they are?

This can happen to the best parents, but am wondering about it.

Why do people keep giving these people jobs and perks?

I could see Robert Downey Jr. He at least has talent but these people who are coat hangers and a name? I just don't get it.

Six months residency, new friends, taking responsibility, able to be insured, rebuilding credibility, getting work, being conscientious, no more going out, saving her money. Long VERY hard road and she needs help, but she can do it.

and yet amy winehouse still runs free.

this is serious. it seems they seldom keep patients the entire 72 hours any more, much less hold them over that. and yeah, i think nurture over nature has a lot to do w/ it. my two nieces were adopted from two unrelated families, and they both had severe drug and behavior problems.
but to be fair, it isn't always the parents. i've seen it both ways.

I wish her the best and that someone takes her health seriously.
