Billy Bush Is Why Nancy O'Dell Left Access Hollywood

The New York Daily News has a report today that says the reason Nancy O'Dell left Access Hollywood with two more year remaining on her contract was that she couldn't handle Billy Bush anymore. A source said, "The atmosphere at Access Hollywood is like walking on a landmine because of Billy. He throws tantrums and tirades and oftentimes for no apparent reason. It was one of several things that had Nancy at her wit's end after 13 years."

Apparently Nancy complained to her boss but that never worked because her boss and Billy are partners on Billy's radio show. I'm guessing that Nancy just said f**k it because she knows she can get another job that probably pays close to the same amount and why should she take a bunch of crap from a guy no one really likes. You have to admire her for just getting up and walking away and leaving a lot of money on the table.

I remember seeing a clip of him interviewing Michael Lohan and his handy dandy cellphone with messages from lindsay I thought, what kind of 'reporter' would take MICHAEL LOHAN seriously??

A douche reporter apparently.

I think we've all been there ... heck, I just walked away from a toxic boss/co-worker situation. There are some things that are not worth you losing your sanity.

Hunh, interesting. I wouldn't have guessed him for an asshole, but just goes to show you just can't tell from how they perform on tv.

I had a boss like that NotSoAnonMom. I had panic attacts daily. He eventually got fired because they were afraid I would sue for a hostile work environment. I couldn't quit, but I sure admire her.

I've seen Billy on Access Hollywood and I agree with Nancy, he is really behaving like an azzhole. On the other hand Nancy seems to be true class.

She'll be missed but kudos to her for walking away.

I LOATHE Billy Bush. L O A T H E.

Pardon my ignorance but is he a Bush, i.e., related to George W and Poppy?

Cheryl said...

Yes, He and George W. are cousins.

I had no idea that he was related to the former Prez. Now that you mentioned it I can see the similarities.

No wonder he's a total douchebag.

This all explains why Shaun looks so exasperated with Billy. I'll miss Nancy.

Is he the answer to the blind about the married show host who got drunk in Vegas and came on to everyone?

It's an old blind.

FWIW, The New York Daily News HATES everyone in the Bush family. So this may not be true.

Indeed, wasn't she already judging some reality show before this came out?
Not saying it isn't true, but with his politcal connections it's easy to see him as easypickins'
I'll believe it when she says it.

Thank you for sharing your bad employment stories! The reason I have sadly been unemployed since March is because I was working at one of the scariest placesI have ever heard of. The first week we had a meeting, and I was warned, "Don't say a word. Don't get noticed." - because that's how you get fired. For what? ANYTHING. We had to be very very quiet at our desks, except for 3 PM when we were REQUIRED to get up and play any manner of stupid, silly game the owner came up with. And at least twice a week she would call us all together and tell us how wonderful she was and how lucky we were to have these jobs. I walked out in the middle of the day, month 3. No regrets, but I wished I stayed at the my former position, even if it was a night job.

I walked out on my job in July, on my lunch hour actually. Yep, went out for lunch and kept driving away from work and didn't go back. My Asshat of a boss tried to get me to lie on reports and when I refused, he made my life a living hell. I'm collecting unemployment now while I finish my Master's degree. Best decision I've ever made!

Love Nancy O'Dell and wish her all the best in her future endeavors - good for her for getting out of a bad situation!

Since we're talking about our toxic jobs - I was fired in June for performance (but they did not replace me - hmmm....) and was consequently denied unemployment. The more time that goes by, the more I realize how much that job drained me and how unhappy I was. (I have heard through the grapevine someone else has since "become a problem" - someone who's worked there for 20 years. Go figure.) Just received a promotion at my seasonal retail job. I'm making half the money I was making at Toxic, Inc., but actually enjoying work again and feeling much better about life in general!

when i heard she was leaving, i knew he was the reason. sometimes he says the shitest things about people, that are not funny and i just think, i can't believe he just said that. hopefully people will stop watching the show after she leaves and the AH people can see that he is the problem, not others...

Bad employment situation... I just went through this too. Was harrased by co-worker (who was enabled by the director of hte dept) and stressed to the point where I broke out in small lesions on my body. I forced the issue with HR and was able to transfer out to another department where my new manager is extremely protective of me - to the point where he told my former manager and director that they were not allowed to speak to me. If they had anything to say, it was to go through him. This fellow has earned my life-long loyalty.

Bravo, Nancy O'Dell! I am shocked Access Hollywood valued Billy Bush more than her.

@ Pookie, I agree and immediately thought of Joel McHale when I saw this post.

I heart Nancy O'Dell. Hope she gets a better gig.

@ Caroline - Ditto!

Not familiar with Billy Bush's work but in that picture he *looks* like a douche! Related to Dubya? Now I know he's one.

Speaking of toxic jobs...I walked out of one in 2007 and haven't worked much since, due to having a baby, blah, blah, blah. I got pregnant in June 2007, had bronchitis, the doctor put me in the hospital for three days, though I didn't want to go. My boss (who was the director of the department) didn't know that I was pregnant yet. When I came back to work, everything seemed fine. This was in early August. I told him a couple of weeks later that I was pregnant. Things got really difficult for me at work after that. I miscarried in mid September and was out of work for five days (had to have a D&C, etc). Two days after getting back to work, I was sent to my boss's office and there he sat with the director of human services with a write up for being consistently out of work! I had worked there for years and had rarely taken off work! I went to my office, packed my stuff, deleted all my files from the pc(the boss had never even taken the time to know what I did so he had none of the pertinent information...shitty yes, but it caused me much satisfaction), and wrote a letter to the director of HR stating that I could no longer work in such a hostile work environment.

What sucks is that he left the company a few months later. I really miss that job. When I think about it, maybe they were right, however, they should have talked to me about it instead of giving me a write up two days after getting back to work from losing a child. I remember telling my boss, "it's not as though I CHOSE to miscarry or get sick!"
Ugh, he was a complete DB who seemed to really dislike women.

Tara, I would have gone to the labor board on that one.
Had the unfortunate chance to speak to BB this past summer. He walks around with a smug smirk that I wanted to smack right off his face.
Wherever Nancy goes, they should be happy to get her and, as a viewer, I'll certainly follow.
