An American Idol Post - Adam Lambert
Apparently last night, Adam Lambert, of which I know nothing except for his propensity to photograph himself making out with random people, had a great performance that many people didn't see. I guess American Idol was running late and so in many markets his performance and/or the comments were cut off, and people missed Simon Cowell actually giving a standing ovation to someone. Personally, I'm guessing Simon was probably adjusting himself, but then again, I don't watch the show so I have no idea if Paula gropes him on a regular basis or not. Hell, I don't even know if they sit next to each other anymore because of the new judge. If Simon sits next to the new judge then you can replace Paula's name with Kara's name. The joke doesn't sound as funny though, because I think we could all see Paula having one too many "cokes" and having a little grope. So, in case you missed it, here is Adam Lambert and what is supposedly a better version of Mad World than Tears For Fears did. Uh huh. Check it out. Oh, and if you are wondering about the baby picture. I guess they had to sing a song from the year of their birth and had to provide a baby picture. The one of Ryan putting on makeup at the age of 2 should be ignored.

Adam did alright; Tears for Fears did better; best version EVER was from the Donnie Darko soundtrack, by Michael Andrews & Gary Jules. That one rocks.
That said - does Simon have a fever or something? I didn't think it was in his nature to actually like any of the contestants on that God-awful show.

Every week, when I listen to Adam, I think..."this is so weird yet so friggin cool". He's like a mythical Siren. I dig him.

I agree with Babs; the Michael Andrews/Gary Jules version is the best.
So that's why I gave up on watching Fringe last night. How hard is it to time, what is it now--eight? very short songs along with comments?
I love Adam. He is engaging, enthralling, and has "MAD" talent! He should go far as an entertainer...
I didn't like him at first. He's been growing on me since the night he looked like Elvis. Forgot what he sang though.

i wouldn't call him remotely engaging or enthralling, but kudos to him--actually, mostly to the musical director and the musicians who came up w/ the arrangement--for a job well done. it was ok.

Pookie, the artists come up with their own arrangements, which is why some of them do a 'karaoke' version of a song, like Lil last night.
Same as how David Cook rearranged Billie Jean and a few others last year.
I'm with Mikey and Ms Cool...I'm going to see him live whatever he does next. I love his voice and I don't care who he makes out with!
I can't take my eyes off him and rewind to watch his performances over again. I guess that makes me a fan. Plus, if I actually voted, I would vote for him instead of Danny Gokey whom I should have an allegiance to since he is from my neck of the woods. So heck yes, I'll go to a concert.
I know I'll be in the minority, but I just can't get behind Adam. He already had a good career going into the show, and I find it hard to believe with his uniqueness and amazing talent that couldn't get a record deal on his own. It just seems very staged to me. Yes, the whole show is very manipulative, but I tend to enjoy the show more when talented people who have not been able to break into the business have a chance at stardom. I'm just silly that way!

His interpretation of this song was absolutely heartbreaking. I am right behind you guys in line for his music. Adam ROCKS!!! (from me and my 19yr old daughter who knows he's light in his loafers)

adam is in another league. they should just give it to him now. i love this guy and i think he can be the biggest star AI's ever turned out.
i see no way he loses. even if he's not first, he'll be a star. and between now and the finals, there's no WAY he goes home---the judges would never let that happen, and they shouldn't.
I LOVE ADAM LAMBERT SOOOO GODDAMN MUCH. I love Allison too, though, and I find it incredibly indicative of America's poor taste that she's constantly in the bottom three and Milquetoast McSeeingImpaired is STILL THERE.
Hated the song choice, though. Ugh. "Mad World." What's with EVERYONE picking horrid songs (or, in Lil's case, picking a classic and slaughtering it?) last night?! They could choose from a massive catalogue spanning the late seventies/early eighties -- a veritable musical goldmine!

Pookie, they're supposed to make their own arrangement. HOWEVER, the reason it was good was because it's an arrangement by two people NOT associated with American Idol; Gary Jules and Michael Andrews.
Same goes for the Billie Jean arrangement which AMH.Producer mentions. THAT version was actually arranged by Chris Cornell, NOT David Cook. Cook did not credit the arrangements of others until he was called on it by the public, making it seem as if he'd actually done them himself. After the controvery, he then had to create his own arrangments.
Without all the make up and wierd hairstyle he looks like a young Kurt Russell and he sings his ASS OFF. He should win.
