Blind Items Revealed

June 30, 2009

This is a great story. It is all the more so because the person involved didn't want any credit for what he did. A former MVP winning NFL player recently paid to have 70 underprivileged children and their families flown to Walt Disney World for a vacation. He picked up the entire cost for everything with no sponsor help and no publicity for himself.

Kurt Warner

Yes I'm looking forward to the last act of kindness about the person giving out the gift bags to Best Buy.

I hope we don't have to wait for New Years for this reveal.

Wow, I read Kurt Warner's wiki - he is amazing. Kudos to Kurt and his family, and to Enty for "outing" him.

I'm a long-time lurker who loooooves this site. I work for a homeless/ domestic violence program, and we were a beneficiary of Kurt Warner's generosity. He paid for the playground at our site's child care center to be completely re-done. His only stipulation was NO PUBLICITY. He's a devoutly religious man who actually walks the walk.

Damn it .. I hate Kurt Warner with a passion. [He ran an ad opposing Stem Cell Research versus Michael J. Fox's ad for it in the 2004 election. And he is very supportive of organizations that want to ban a woman's right to choose.]

Well hope the kids had fun and I still hate you Kurt .. but keep doing good work for under-privileged kids.

Well I don't hate Kurt, but I definitely don't like his politics too. There's also some controversy stemming from his involvement with Joyce Meyer Ministries regarding what some think, are ministers who take advantage of celebrity endorsements to increase member contributions, and then use that money to live a lavish lifestyle. ESPN's TV program Outside the Lines, recently did a program on pro athletes who give money, (and by implication, endorsements), to high profile ministries like Kurt and Joyce Meyer, and Evander Holyfield and Creflo Dollar. (First aired on 4/19/09)

Having said that, I do believe that Kurt honestly believes what he believes, and I do cheer for him when he plays, because I like how he plays the position. I also cheer for him because he was traded out of St. Louis, before his time, and I like to see someone make their way back to the top of their game. (It's why I was cheering for Andy Roddick today). It's just hard to separate the two things. And hearing how generous he is with stuff like this, only makes it more difficult.
