Tent Pole - 4 Quadrant - typical Industry lingo & myopic compartmentalization of creativity,
Can we just say Summer Popcorn flick?

I agree with Jaws. Set in the summer, released in summer, huge blockbuster that started the summer movie trend we still see today. Not to mention a well crafted movie.

Seeing Jurassic Park when it came out was pretty amazing. Star Wars and Jaws were better overall movies.

Jaws set the standard...

I love Jaws, also Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Labyrinth are also great movies!

The Flamingo Kid was good too, one of my favorites because Matt Dillon, and also, it came out in the winter (though it was a summer movie)when I was in junior high, and my bff and I saw it on a snow day. Good memories!

Independence Day. A great overall flick, and the initial attack scenes were amazing. I love seeing shit blow up!

Armageddon fun as hell, corny as shit and lots of damage.

As long as plenty of people die in a hail of bullets and somebody's car goes off a cliff, I'm happy. The hero getting a bit of hardcore humpy also, just so that I can unbutton my cardigan and fan myself a bit.

Either The Empire Strikes Back or Men In Black.

"Empire Strikes Back" or "Die Hard." Both movies left me exhilarated when I walked out of the theater.

Jaws - never gets old.

Meatballs-the epitome of summer flicks.

True Lies. 140 minutes of Arnold killing muslim terrorists. Old school practical effects. Shot on 35mm film.

Now it's mostly superhero movies with horrible CGI and shot digitally.

Agree. The sequel was shit. People loved the practical effects in ID4. So what does Emmerich do in the sequel? Opts for lifeless CGI.

Batman with Keaton and Nicholson (I was 13, perfect age for that entire summer of Batman)

I don't watch movies or TV anymore knowing about all the filth involved with it. That crap will rot your brains.

I think the 80’s was a great time to be a kid, with Ghostbusters, E.T., Raiders of The Lost Ark, Back to the Future, etc.

Underworld or pride and prejudice, can watch a thousand times and still enjoy it as if it was the 1st

I'll say The Day After Tomorrow. The tv gods conspired to put that on AMC on my birthday. Just for me.

That's a movie I'll watch as often as my husband watches the Men in Black movies. And it's refreshing on a hot summer night.

Scandi, you mean Ben - the sequel to Willard?
