Blind Item #1

Once again, there is a female victim blaming a high profile male celebrity/former athlete and this tabloid has made clear it is siding for the male accused yet again.

Tmz and Luke Walton

Well it did happen 5 years ago. Should have called the cops then . Sorry .

I am all for believing people when they accuse other people of assault. But this seems... odd. There's no police report, it's been five years- I wonder what we don't know about the situation.

She has LIAR written all over her especially her eyes

Well, you say she's a "victim," but go on and accuse others of taking sides.

What did the police say?

It was either here or on TMZ that I saw some commenter talking about how they saw Luke Walton become sexually aggressive with their sister, who did not want any part of him. The commenter was saying something like this would not be out of character for Walton.

I guess we'll see, if other woman start sharing stories. Not reporting it to the police does not mean it didn't happen.

I agree SD Auntie. I was 16 and filed a report the day my assault happened.

Well, if some internet commenter on a site you can't remember said the guy was creepy then let's hang him now.

It would be a strange story to make up, guess we'll have to see what evidence comes up.

Gosh, J, you sure have a violent reaction to things. Seek the therapy you so desperately need.

I do have to say, though, that it's always fun being condescended to by one the site's biggest and most virulent misogynists. Cheers, dork!

Condescension suits you.

I know- and believe- Kelli. There's no positive for her in this- she's a sports reporter and former pro athlete, and there's no benefit to her career wise to make this public. Her employer is Sports Net LA, which has the Lakers' broadcast rights. Reporting it while LW was the Lakers' coach would have presented an immediate conflict of interest and removed her from any contact/coverage with the team, necessary to do her job. She waited until it was no longer a professional conflict to come forward, which could not have been easy.

Prior to the assault, she considered him a friend. Combine that with the reasons mentioned by Mr. Sankey, I could see why she wouldn't file a police report.

Similar scenario happened to me. When you have been assaulted by someone who is in a position of power, you are fucked. And the powerful men know it. They have the financial means to get great lawyers. The victims have to hire their own attys, hoping to even find someone to represent them knowing who they are up against. If you report the assault to the police, it becomes very public very quickly. After your horrific attack, the accusatory questioning begins. It is a no win situation for the woman. You will lose your job, get blackballed from the industry, questioned that your motives are financial. Even if you win, you will always be looked upon as the woman who was 1) assaulted-what guy wants you then? 2). questioned if it really happened 3) what were your motives? Believe me, 90% or more of these assaults are true.

Sorry Nicole, I'm the type to document with pictures, videos and witnesses. I'm not easily intimidated and stand up for my rights Always. In the 80s, men got away with tons of stuff and i am so glad that most complaints are taken seriously. Pigstein and looney Moon vess got away with their behavior because of females who were afraid. Sorry u feel this way though

Not all women report assault straight away. Some only do so when friends and family encourage them to do so, because they don't want to admit to themselves that it happened to them.

But then, of course CDAN has people who blame victims...

Sd Auntie said...

Not blaming the victim but there are some cash grabs out there. I do not believe every complaint and would like evidence. Visual, pictures DNA...

To me there is not yet sufficient evidence to really draw any conclusion.

I don't believe that whether or not a party immediately reported a sexual assault to the police is relevant. There are plenty of reasons why a woman may stay silent. I don't understand why she doesn't file a criminal report now that the whole story is public.

Not everyone is in the right mind to take pictures and gather evidence, dude. You're basically being traumatized in the moment and can't think properly. You're likely in shock and denial while it's occurring. The explanation above makes perfect sense.

Had a friend who has MH issues went on the internet and announced she was raped and in ICU in LA county. It was a LIE and she was typing away while at work!!! So maybe i am just jaded.

Jeweled Skye said...

I may be jaded as well and I don't know a whole lot about the Luke Walton accusations. What bothers me about previous claims of 'pay to play' abuse is that - for the most part - these are grown women, actresses with managers, agents, assistants, etc., who go to hotel rooms and homes by themselves. What are they thinking? If it was about a role, wouldn't / shouldn't their manager or agent be present? Even 'fandom' accusations - going back to Kobe Bryant... what is the 'victim' thinking when going to a celebrity's hotel room at 3am - for an autograph no less? Showing up alone is rather like throwing your ante in the pot to play - it truly says "I came alone and am willing to do anything for xxx (role, autograph, song, etc)". if you're going to conduct business, then you need to have your business advisers (agent, manager, etc) with you. It is these women tarnishing the believability of the true victims of abuse/assault

+10000 Jewelskye. I was so scared of that person that I terminated the friendship.

I reported an assault immediately after it happened in a public place in front of 6 witnesses who saw the whole thing. I was immediately made the bad guy anyway. I understand perfectly why no one goes public with this type of thing, especially when it concerns anyone even slightly famous.

Kellikopter said...

I wasn't there so I have no idea what may or may not have happened. If Walton did assault the victim, however, I take issue with her filing a lawsuit against him but choosing not to go to the police because she "doesn't want him in jail." If he's a violent sexual offender, he needs to be in jail.
