Blind Item #7

For years I have been telling you that the permanent A list mostly movie actor with multiple Oscar nominations/wins and another on the way is not the person you see portrayed in his carefully crafted image. Some of that came out this week via a former back in the day A+ list actor.

I trust Henry Winkler all day, everyday.

I’ve never trusted Hanks image. HOWEVER, wasn’t this in 1989, when his ego was likely exploding (and when he left his dying wife (cancer) for Rita Wilson

Winkler is one of the nicest, best guys in the biz.
💯 % team Fonzy

Sorry, Chet Haze does not, can not, have good parents.

Thanks Tricia--googling the details there's a ton between the lines here esp based on Enty's past drops about him. He's creepy thru and thru if you ask me

Henry Winkler knows about Hanks, finally someone is saying something

Henry avoided answering the question, but others probably will.

Agree with everyone here. His close friendships outed him to me long ago. Gotta hand it to him tho, he is great at shaping his public persona.

Astra Worthington said...

Who is he friends with? Hanks, right? He always seemed like an undercover creeper to me. I hope the Fonz is OK (aaaaaaaaaaay) because who doesn’t love Happy Days?

I'm hoping Enty's promised allegations against Hanks are still scheduled to drop in the lead-up to the Mr Rogers movie.

Good to know that that off vibe i get from Hanks might have some reasons

after all, Hanks has VERY questionable friends

Henry Winkler is one of the "Good" people in Hollywood.

Way, way back in the 1980's, I was once able to get him a film script I wrote, and it came back with hand written notes on how to make it better.

To me, this meant he actually read it, digested it, and offered suggestions to make it better.

But it ultimately wasn't something he wanted to do.

(It was about an old man suffering Alzheimer who kept talking to his "friend" long dead, that only he could see and hear.)

I had thought it would work for him and Robin Williams.

Tigerlily said...

Henry did avoid answering the question but what was said and unsaid told me all I need to know. Hanks is a douche, too bad.

I've always wondered about Hanks, and Rita Wilson always seemed like a phony. They're known for being total enablers for Chet.

Agreed, Winkler seems like a gem, and Night Shift was a great movie!
Tricia-- you have the best recall! Those brainstorms of Keaton's were a riot!

Personally, I don't care if a person chooses to use drugs. Not a smart choice but as long as no one else is hurt, fine.

My problem is with the abusers. No punishment is bad enough for those monsters.

Who are the questionable friends of Hanks?

Mean Man said...

On Gilbert Gottfried's podcast "Amazing Collossal" they interviewed Henry Winkler. He did not offer details about Hanks, but the interviewers laughed at the realization that both of the two popularly characterized nicest guys in Hollywood hate each other. Regarding Hanks, his public persona seems fake and trying too hard to be seen as a great guy. I liked him better when he did comedy movies at the beginning and I never saw him in interviews. Winkler does not seem to be faking it. If Hanks really is a great guy, he should dial it back to look credible.

Henry Winkler is the best.

My wife and I actually sat next to Hanks and Rita for a performance of Cirque Du Soleil (Dralion) and they couldn't of been nicer. Was sitting right next to Tom and he made the effort to chat during the performance with me (I didn't want to bother him). He was totally cool and we shared a couple of quiet chuckles during the performance. Just my two cents. I don't know anything about the freaky deaky stuff.

noellebebe said...

"Smiling faces, smiling faces, sometimes they don't tell the truth." Encyclopedia illustration could be Hanks pulling off his relatable, humble Jimmy Stewart type of image, his nice fat breadbasket. Hooey. And not hiding it all so well anymore, either. Pride before the fall? The elite fuckheads protect the other elite fuckheads. So he might just continue certain habits uninterrupted.
There is every reason that this blind could be about Hanks. It could be about a lot of people. Also and however, someone who worked for De Niro has been talking, and more, about his behavior(s) towards his "underlings." Maybe not a Harvey Weinstein, but maybe on the borderline of how power corrupts. Inappropriate demands, arrogance, blind entitlement, as old as the human race. And a change is coming.

VRWC said...

That would have been an awesome movie!

Okay, they shot Turner & Hooch up here on the Monterey Peninsula. A few days before filming begins Winker and Hanks wander into the store in Carmel where I work. Some runs to the back and tells me The Fonz is up front and I go up to check it out. Winkler was cool, signing autographs, ans saying hi to everyone. Hanks never took off is sunglasses and couldn't wait to get out of there.

Private Score: Winkler - 1....Hanks-0

AListDiva said...

When Hanks filmed the upcoming Mr. Rogers film in the Pittsburgh area, he was nothing but gracious and friendly to all locals that approached him. If he had an ego 30 years ago, thats not the worst thing he could do. If other things are true, then that would be highly disappointing.

AngelSleuth said...

Team Fonzie. Hanks is creepy in the Mr. Rogers movie, I don't trust him. Never have.

dummypants said...

Is there a link to Winkler's comments/interview?

and to those asking, I think the friend of Hanks that doesn't sit right with everyone is Spielberg. Those 2 have been thick as thieves since Saving Private Ryan days and with everything we know about Spielberg, many have felt there was no way Hanks was as clean as portrayed.

Mom said...

I remember reading about a carpenter who built a creepy dungeon in Hank's mansion. Something like that.
It's been alluded that he's just as bad as his buddy Spielberg.

Angela said...

Hanks is definitely a creep, and it's a given that Henry Winkler has MUCH MORE to say about his behavior on set. The way he deflected the question in the interview is extremely telling. He can't say more, or his career would be over.

Or... it could be that, thirty years ago, Tom Hanks second guessed Henry Winkler's skills as a director (he was the original director for Turner & Hooch, not an actor). Given that Winkler has ultimately directed two films in all (Memories of Me and Cop & 1/2), that neither of them has made much of an impression, Hanks may have been right on this one.
But, yeah, okay, that would mean that Hanks is maybe not the monster I fancy him to be, and that would force me to admit that I'm a worthless piece of shit, and that I get my kicks by fancying that every person who doesn't share my views on society and politics is a degenerate from Hollyweird. And I definitely don't want that. So, Hanks is indeed a creep.

Hayley said...

Love that the consensus here is Team Henry. Winkler seems like a genuinely good person who isn't merely playing the part of "Mr. Nice Guy". Everything Hanks does seems insincere

Astra Worthington said...

Yeah I want to be the type of person that gets their kicks from typing up loooooooong screeds against the commenters at a gossip website! Gosh, have you been nominated for sainthood yet, defending Hollywood like you do? 😂🙄

I was so fortunate to meet Henry Winkler and John Ritter about 20 years ago when they were starring in a production of "The Dinner Party" at the Kennedy Center in DC at the same time that my 12 year old niece was appearing as Scout in a production of 'To Kill a Mockingbird' (also at the Kennedy Center). Both of those guys went so far out of their way to engage with us and out children (we were all having lunch at a deli across the street from the Kennedy Center). I still have their signed programs, etc but, most of all, best memories of two of the most wonderful men one could ever meet! It broke my heart when John Ritter died so young; I love Henry Winkler so much and hope that he will outlive all of his fans!!

Sara Ruth Ashcroft outed Hanks on Twitter as having bought her from her father at age 13 for sex. He is a vile pedophile.

I don't much about old american stuff but as a foreigner looking at Mr Rodgers, I've gotta say... I'm thinking the same thing that I thought about Jimmy Saville.

Re. Hanks. He said something on the Graham Norton Show that made my "red flags" raise. I remember thinking, "I swear, if Hanks turns out to be a sex pest, I'm burning Hollywood to the ground.". Other people who raised the red flags for me were Bill Cosby, Rolf Harris, Louie CK, Kevin Spacey, and that chick who was dating the chef who looked like Epstein. Spielberg's child stars all seem to go crazy too but nothing he has said or done has raised any red flags so maybe he's good at hiding it?

ZR said...

Another random "hey, what's going here?" thought. At a recent Comic Con panel, people were suggesting celebrities who should have superpowers. Most suggested Keanu Reeves but the non-americans in the panel all just kind of went "Nah... I'm gunna shut up now... but nah. Ok sure, whatever.".

I was in high school when Bosom Buddies was on. He started his career in drag. It's an initiation. Fast forward to Saving Private Ryan. I can not even start on the many reasons I hated that movie, not the least of which that I knew many vets that were literally traumatized in the THEN DDAY museum's IMAX or whatever version it was. I was a tour guide at the time and my dad volunteered at the THEN DDAY museum. I know more than I can get into about that whole VENTURE but it would be a book. Hanks was in New Orleans constantly, because I get he got close to Ambrose et al when he did SCHPIELBERG's movie. They used it for fundraising for the DDAY museum, and then they changed the name to the WW11 Museum to expand the fundraising base. Now they have a whole complex in downtown New Orleans, which includes some fancy ass resort / hotel that is on the brink of opening, I think. It's a fucking circus around celebrating "the greatest generation" to milk them of their money before they are all dead. It literally makes me sick. Did I say every other week Hanks was in town fundraising for this shit. Yes. It's a really cool museum but I don't like anything or anyone behind it.

I also think Gary Sinise is a great guy. He builds homes for wounded vets.

Googled Sarah Ruth Ashcroft and read her Twitter. Terrifying stuff. These child abuse by Hollywood blinds end up making me physically ill after I read them sometimes.

Look on TMZ right now....and the top stories are about a former Boy Meets World actress (she is 42 now and was what 20 when she got the part) and train wreck Miley.

If you hate your children...send them to Hollywood.

TeeHee@U said...

Oh also on front page on TMZ....is Aaron Carter who has officially lost it. He is now moving to Canada. The guy is all over the place.

He was most likely abused/ exploited growing up as well. So sad.

There are some questions about Winkler over the death of Heather O'Rourke. Among other things, he has called it a suicide. I believe anyone who has 'made it' in Hollywood is compromised.

"I was in high school when Bosom Buddies was on. He started his career in drag".....Isn't that part of the initiation into Skull and Bones? Not sure but many of our presidents were in that group.? One of my ancestors started it....the dark side. Methodists.

Winkler was fired from directing Turner and Hooch. He blames Hanks because they didn’t get along. God forbid he could accept that maybe he’s a crappy director and the movie was going to tank. Holding on to a resentment since 1989 does not make you a good person.

Astra Worthington said...

And you Rosie, you’re the type of person that drugs and sexually assaults college girls, so perhaps you’d like to get down off your high horse? Lol oh and lest I forget, you also attack others here like Tricia and J. Maybe you should take breaks from creeping on your child’s pregnant teachers and get yourself off to a Juggalo meeting? I’ve never been but with all your deviant predatory behavior and love of drugs (especially cocaine), I bet you’d fit right in!

Boo Kitty said...

High five, Rosie. Some really disgusting fecal matter suckers here.

Boo Kitty said...

You sound like a frustrated script writer.

Astra Worthington said...

Hi Rosie! Don’t wanna post as yourself? Lol whatever you gotta do to try and play down you being an admitted sexual assaulter! Glad that “Unknown” is cool with sexual assault though. You’ve definitely got the moral high ground 👍🏻👌🏻 Stay classy!

Guesser said...

@HS,I hadn't heard Winkler's comments looked it up, and sure enough,he said she died by suicide as a result of abuse from her Father! He said she pulled her eyebrows out, because of her problems. The movie she was in starred Molly Ringwald and River Phoenix was in it. It went by several different names.

Astra Worthington said...

Anyways, I’ll close this out by saying: I don’t give a damn if you like my comments or not. You ain’t shit 😂 I don’t want to agree with or be liked by predators and their associates. I want all the sexual predators and their enablers and apologists, to hate my guts. So yay for you! And for me!

I have a really great sense about these things. Cosby always weirded me out, even when all of America practically worshipped.
I loathed the Bush family when all of America loved them.
I have an excellent "Creep Meter" and Tom Hanks has always registered very high on it...also Spielberg.

Artful Roger said...

So I went and watched the Henry Winkler video on Heather O'Rourke. I wouldn't be surprised if something sinister that people are alluding to her did indeed happen to her, BUT..other than the flu, he's mixing the details of Heather's Death/Life up with Judith Barsi. At least in that video. Judith was a child actress who died around the same time. She had been the voice of Ducky in The Land Before Time, the little girl in All Dogs Go To Heaven, Michael's daughter in Jaws The Revenge, etc. Her father was very physically and verbally abusive to both her and her mother. Judith had started plucking her eyelashes out from stress. Makeup people and people on set were aware but no one stepped in. Her father ended up shooting her and her mother in their sleep. Then set them on fire.

Artful Roger said...

Sorry if that comment went in more than once. I don't think I was logged in correctly.

Velvet Voice said...

There were rumours years ago about tom hanks COVERING his son s sexual abuses to young girls by giving them money and small papers in Hollywood ...

Guesser said...

@Artful Roger, you are likely correct.I didn't realize the timing was so close. Judith Barsi's death points out the fact that everyone knew things went on but did nothing. This just happened to be with the Father not the industry was the guilty party. But they and government agencies knew.

Tom Hanks has family problems and personal issues, but I know people who've worked with him and no one has ever said an unkind word about him. That is very rare.

CDan had a poster who had been a poster child for a charity (to cure a major disease). He/she said Winkler wouldn't even shake their hand, out of fear of "catching" something. However, I've met Winkler's first cousin, Richard Belzer, and he's nice, so maybe it runs in the family.

I know someone who went to college with Hanks, used to give him a ride because he had no car. She told me a couple of cute stories about him but she says he was the nicest guy then. And mutual friends that kept contact with him (she didn’t) have said he stayed as humble and as nice as he always was.

I like to hope she’s right. I’m not quite ready to let go of Hanks yet. But I’m bracing myself for the worst. I joke to my hubby that if Hanks turns out to be scum, I’m personally going to Hollywood to kick his ass. 😂

Jack's Girl said...

They say he was the same when filming A League of Their Own. Madonna was so rude to the locals no one wants her back in town. Hanks, Geena Davis and Rosie O’Donnell entertained extras and locals during breaks and delays.
