Blind Item #7

Why would a closeted A list NFL player agree with his family if the player's views are a 180 from his family? This is always why they have hated each other.

For the NFL it's not a closet, it's a packed locker room.

In short Aaron Rodgers thinks people who believe in religion are complete idiots. So he might have cost himself his big endorsements.

Brayson87 said...

From MyDog's link:

"Rodgers hasn't spoken to his family in several years. The reason for the estrangement hasn't been revealed, but the insider told PEOPLE religion has played a role in it."

Gee, I wonder why he wouldn't speak to intolerant people. 🤔

TeeHee@U said...

Spot on @sandybrook. Compare him and now Tim Tebow. His comments on his wedding are all around glowing.

And, he is with Danica Patrick aka who represents Nascar .Maybe these comments were his way "out."

ANd, Aaron seems to be the one intolerant. Cannot talk to his family based on a difference of religion. He just Meghan Markled himself.

Brayson87 said...

@TeeHee, No, can't talk to his family because they probably want him to go to conversion therapy camp instead of accepting who he is. I mean I can I can make it an equation:

They don't like gay people + he's probably gay = He doesn't talk to them

Their intolerant beliefs lost them a son, I wouldn't believe in their god either.

Brayson87 said...

Also from the article:
"I don't know how you can believe in a God who wants to condemn most of the planet to a fiery hell," he said. "What type of loving, sensitive, omnipresent, omnipotent being wants to condemn his beautiful creation to a fiery hell at the end of all this?"

Rodgers has a pretty good point, what's the purpose of the apocalypse? I would accept cleaning out the pesky humans.🤔

@TeeHee... why is it always the gay family member who has to be tolerant?

TeeHee@U said...

Have you ever met a Christian, Brayson?...I mean really. My family is just as riddled with Christians as atheists and the intolerant ones are ALWAY the atheist showing up at family/ Thanksgiving/ Christmas dinners demanding us talk about religion and mocking us, Christians for praying and believing in a higher power. Simply put: don't pray if you don't believe.

If people are religious. Get over it. It is their right. To me atheists have always been the most intolerant in your face people because you HAVE to have other belive your "logic "when in reality you just HAVE to have people belive like you. I think your silly because you belive everything came from nothing. Intelligent Design and religion are convergent not divergent is belief system.

Don't like it. Don't belive. Don't care. Deal with it or not.

And, yah. All Christians send their kids to conversion therapy every time they play with their sisters babies. I mean my goodness. Such ignorance.

His family is religious and homophobic, that's why they don't get on.

Brayson87 said...

@TeeHee, I think it's arrogant and prideful that you seem to consider yourself an authority on "Christians," as if they all come in one flavor. Now that's how one usually spots false Christians, people who are very loud but practice very little of which they preach or claim to follow.
Yeah everyone knows atheists tend to be obnoxious whiners, sorry they trigger you, do you need a safe space at your family gatherings? I can give you some pointers on how to deal with them if it's too much for you. Or you could, you know, maybe try to follow your faith and embrace them with love and pray for their souls.

He never should’ve brought up religion. Either stay in the closet or come out, but by bringing up religion now he’s got multiple issues that may turn fans against him.

DJS NOLA said...

as a gay guy thats basically gnostic but not atheist i certainly know just as many if not more intolerant atheists... people of all stripes can be intolerant.. btw has Aaron ever come out of the closet? is the nfl intolerant?

PhillyWilly said...

@Tee Hee all atheists, ALL, are religiously atheistic. If not, they’re agnostics. They can suck on a tailpipe. F ‘em

I’ll say Big Ben to be different. Or do his parents support public rape... lol

@Brayson I think you use straw men and how they are portrayed on the media and on television and the media to decide "how all Christians think" when I doubt you do that with other religions. You have repeatedly made anti-religious comments here and I think that has more to do with you than with me.

And, I actually did pray for you and guidance/ wisdom as soon as I posted and before you replied. I have also prayed for GASP Dereck as well when I thought he was on the brink.

Atheists are just as judgmental as Christians/ Muslims/ etc just Christian bashing shows up more in the media. so it is "allowed".

You have made up your mind and I have made up mine. based on experience. Neither one of us is changing. So be it. It is our right.

Anyways, you inspired me, I hope you have a nice rest of your day Brayson and anyone else reading this.

Actually, brayson might be on to something here. TeeHee been pretty arrogant and judgmental, and downright nasty a few times here.. of course It was always righteous I bet?

Astra Worthington said...

Gotta agree with you TeeHee. Everyone is entitled to believe what they want. You can tolerate behavior from loved ones, even if you don’t approve of it. But tolerance is a two way street. We have no clue how this family handled its issues. Either side could’ve been obnoxious because there are obnoxious Christians and obnoxious gays. Also, there’s the option of just not associating with people that don’t share your values or live a lifestyle that you’re comfortable with. I’m sure just as many atheists shun Christians as Christians shun gays, and so on. I personally shun drug users and alcoholics, because I don’t want to be around that and the issues it creates. Doesn’t mean I hate them or want them to live the way I live. It’s all about freedom of association and understanding that not everyone HAS to be accepted and/or celebrated. Sometimes in life people are going to “hate” or “shun” you for no reason, or stupid reasons, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t valid to them.

Everyone thinks of Rodgers as some kind of hero, but most insiders state he's an overly-sensitive, crotchety diva who has thrown his own teammates under the bus, and is not well liked by them. He bitched for years about not being drafted by the 49ers, then held a 13 year grudge against Mike McCarthy because of it. Some of his bitchy behavior has been caught on video as well.

TeeHee@U said...

Rosie, Sweetie, you have also been VERY, VERY judgmental and nasty on many occasions as well. I rarely, if ever agree, with you. But, whatever. You are entitled to believe/ post the way you want. :D

I never have claimed to be a perfect human or Christian. Kind of basis of Christianity. That we all fail. Everyday. Multiple times. It is up to our God/ Jesus to save us. But, I won't lecture you guys when there is always Google haha and people much better qualified people than me.

I know I can be judgey from time to to time but this is a gossip website (and yes, I know it is not Christian to be gossiping haha) so basically all we do is judge based on unconfirmed information haha.

And, spot on Astra! Very great analysis. Freedom of Association is everything. We have the freedom to bring into our lives or out of our lives anyone we should choose. And, we have the freedom to have differing opinions on an issue or have an opinion on how someone acts. That is the definition of freedom.

And, thanks for the support to those chiming in. Not trying to hate on atheists. Believe how you want. It is your right. Just from my personal experience it is atheists that have always been up in my face for something simple as a cross necklace.

I will never forget one time, in college, and I was having dinner with a group of friends and their acquaintances and someone I just met asked me . "you don't ACTUALLY believe in that do you?" At a perfectly nice meal. Like, what?! Would people ask that to someone wearing a hijab? Or a yarmulke?

Anyways, sincerely, I do hope anyone reading this has a nice rest of their day. I have pretty much said what I think and believe and I don't think there is much more that I can add. :)

Lo Key says stop with the censorship already! said...

FFS. I'm an atheist. As long as y'all leave me alone, I'll leave you alone. I'm never the one that brings up religion.

Jon said...

When I first heard his comments I thought he'd Dixie Chick'd himself since his fan base is pretty conservative...but the reactions I've read from fans seems to be overwhelmingly supportive. Good for him.

Brayson87 said...

@Teehee, Wow, how you have suffered, people at dinners have been insensitive of your religious beliefs, what a cross you bear. I mean it's not quite like being fed to lions back in the day or Christians now in the Middle East and other parts of the world who are routinely discriminated against or slaughtered, but yeah nothing should interfere with your enjoyment of appetizers or desserts. And you're right, I think everyone who has seen your posts, at least the ones that don't get deleted, know how very tolerant you are.

And I don't know where you get this idea that Christians are some sort of unknown people to me. My family is Christian and I explored several different Christian faiths in my youth. How many different types of churches or meeting houses have you been in? And as hardcore Christian as the older family were, no one was ever unwelcome at the table or given a difficult time if they came out of the closet or converted to some other religion.

I think that belief or faith in anything should not be unquestioning. Maybe like you say your mind is made up and you don't change. My mind isn't made up, and I am constantly changing. I look forward to questions and answers I haven't even imagined yet.

But yeah thanks, I will have a nice rest of the day. ;)

===Rodgers has a pretty good point,

I grew up on the buckle of the "are yooo Cathlick or Chrissshtun?" Bible Belt.

For that reason, I'm especially simpatico with anti-Thumpers.

At the same time, it's hard to take anyone seriously who's content to take their stand on whatever molehill of intellect suffices for the worst of televangelical shysters and Jonathan Edwards "sinners in the hands of an angry god" sorts so busy judging they forget the judgment of themselves they invite thereby.

Love something True, something standing outside you and all men which serves to guide and inspire you.

Love your neighbor as yourself.

(In a world where everything's increasingly "personal" and the taking of offense to the punt of estrangement is rampant ... probably understandable that love of that one something True won't truly satisfy until it's ... Person-al. =)

Live and let live. We all get there when we get there. Or not. Everyone gets the world they choose.

I don’t know this god. The God I know created hell for Lucifer & fallen angels. The God I know made a way for humanity to avoid going to hell. A lot of ministers will have to answer to God because they are not telling the truth about God. They are leading people to hell.

+1 @DJS NOLA

If your group requires everyone to think the same thing about everything then you need another group.

I’m Christian and I don’t know the god Aaron Rodgers describes. Unfortunately a lot of people do know that god.

@gator

Aw, that's too bad if true. He does enjoy a great image. Plus, he plays for Green Bay and I just always like to think that truly hometOwned team wouldn't put up with less than a team player.

(One secondary but supremely useful function of my CDAN addiction is "letting go" of Hype and severing appreciation for fine work in whatever genre from grafting a make believe measure of character on a public persona.

Having let go all of my lifelong political heroes decades ago, keeps the habit sharp. Got the scars to prove I'll always err on giving benefit of the doubt, being "ever hopeful" and such but this place sure tempers that nicely. =)

Brayson87 said...

Now see, T.W. has about halfway converted me to her god, that is how you do Christian. 👍

TeeHee 👍🏻👍🏻 You might as well not even bother. Most people don’t want to hear it. Their loss.

Rosie riveter said...

I am judgmental, absolutely.
I judge the people here who are misogynistic, (that means a hatred and contempt of women) and I'm judgmental towards people who claim they're not racist but insist on saying and/or support racist shit spewed here all the time, and I'm also a die hard fan of motherhood- however that comes to us. Oh, and of course as you well know I'm gay, so of course there's that.
But.... None of that you are right? So how would you know what it's like to be marginalized?
Of course we don't agree.
Tell you what, sweet southern Christian Belle.... When they come for you, I'll stick up for you. Mmmkay?

I really don't think Rodger's is gay. I also think his family dispute has more to do with how his family has reacted to his fame (and trying to leech off it).

His religious comments were spot on in my opinion (Roman Catholic here). I also have trouble believing that an all loving God would also demand that we do nothing but worship him/her 24/7. Also have us reject homosexuals even though Jesus spent time with prostitutes and lepers and the sick. Not trying to convert anyone, just trying to show them respect and love.
