That and those who cast her think since people loved her in Harry Potter and then, Beauty and the Beast (which was going to get watched no matter who was casted) they will like her in a serious role and get people to show up. I can almost hear the pitch that it will be like Keira Knightley in Pride and Prejudice....however, Keira is not nearly as bland as Emma and can act and there was no accent for Keira to master either. Accents are hard and Emma is already being mocked for horrible one.
