Blind Item #3 - Reader Blind

It is ironic that this writer uses a pseudonym to separate himself from his father who is perhaps the biggest writer of all time sales wise in the specific genre they both write in.  The reason it is ironic is the father has ghostwritten 70% to 80% of the work credited to the son.  In fact their recent collaboration which has been turned into a film was written entirely by the father except for the title which was the son’s contribution.

When the hell does Stephen King even have time to take a dump if this is true? Does he have a keyboard fastened over the toilet?

On the other hand, King has famously written under a pseudonym before, to avoid flooding the market, and knows he can't use Richard Bachman anymore.

One thing Stephen King does very, very well and I don't know who does it better than him, is character development. His characters are all very well fleshed out.

Completely agree with this. He's excellent at character development.

Character development and sometimes a unique plotline. He just needs to learn that after 600 pages not to get bored and try to wrap it all up in the last 20 or 30.

I love love love SK's characters. They are fascinating.

as someone who’s read just about everything both of them have written, I think the 70% figure is a little far fetched. (Horns is clearly in a different style than King, for example). But NOS4A2 and the other books where they’re “collaborating” are ABSOLUTELY 95% King and maybe 5% Hill.

Writing the book to give his kid a job...
This is why these wealthy parents should support financially their kids not in the same league as them, so they don't embarass themselves by comparison.

This always happens.

Genius skips a generation. The kids of these amazing stars...
Witness Elvis and Lisa Marie, huge "talent" gap, by galaxies...
Aaron Spelling and train wreck Tori.
John Lennon and Julian and Sean Lennon....
Mick Jagger and all his kids...

Lisa Marie is pretty talented, she has a great voice. Julian Lennon is very talented, he is a good songwriter.

And Liza Minnelli, Michael Douglas and the Bridges brothers, also very talented. There are a lot of successful, talented celebrity offspring.

While King is no wordsmith and probably couldn't be considered a great "writer" there is no doubt that he one of, if not the greatest, storytellers of all time.

I used to read a lot of his stuff as a teen, then as I got into my late teens and early 20's I became a bit of a snob and would turn my nose up.

It's only recently that I've come to realize that although his prose leaves a lot to be desired, his understanding of the human condition and his ability to tell a story is second to none.
