Four For Friday - The Journals
Long thought to be lost in the never going to give them back bureaucracy that is the federal government, they have emerged. They have not emerged with their rightful owner, but with someone who is using them to blackmail various people mentioned. The owner is an A list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee. The journals were written over a period time when the actress was just beginning her career. It names names of those she had to sleep with to land parts. It names names of those who harassed her or she saw harass others. It lists a lot of encounters with men who were married at the time. It is a who's who of names and dates and acts. It is so detailed that anyone who is contacted by the blackmailer realizes they have no chance of waffling out of it. One permanent A list director who is beloved by Hollywood and the public and his wife is the latest to be targeted and is considering paying the 7 figure sum. The problem won't go away though.

Actually, yes - Anne Hathaway had diaries seized by FBI in 2008. Christopher Nolan? I’d say Garry Marshall but he’s deceased.
Whoever is doing this must be hookedup with the dirty part of the government or how else would she have gotten the journals Streep is as dirty as they come however I don't think she has done anything but Movies. Although I hear she is about to ruin Dirty little Lies. I don't think its Spielberg isn't his think little boys?

Nolan is definitely beloved by fans, peers and his wife. I have a hard time imagining that kind of behavior from him, but it's always the quiet ones, right? If Anne had diaries seized then she's my guess!

Diaries were seized in 2008. Most directors she worked with before then/shortly after aren't lining up, but I guess it doesn't have to be a director she worked with necessarily.
I think these are Anne's diaries for sure. Her ex was partner's with Ron Burkle (who hosted fundraisers for the Clintons). Follieri could have pissed off all kinds of people with the Vati-Con scam, but perhaps this could be someone linked with the Vatican/Church?
I'm feeling a NY vibe here. Maybe Scaramucci? Cuomo? Maybe a mob connection? Who benefits from blackmailing prominent folks in Hollywood?

HeatherBee-- I was thinking part of the dislike of her could be bc of these diaries, too. Like backlash for her having written in them in first place, and being involved with sloppy con artist that lead to them being confiscated/not being smart enough to destroy them. Obviously, not all of that blame should be on her, but there was something "extra" about the AnnE backlash than what seemed to be the reasons. It has a little bit of high school clique trying to get entire school to turn on girl bc potential narc.

I am going to guess Carrie Fisher. She was known for her diaries and her writing. She knew all of the industry, and people would have trusted her to tell their story to. When she wrote about having an affair with Harrison Ford, her Mom told her not to. There are likely many, many secrets that she knew and did not publicly disclose. She is dead now, and that is the best time for others to use any secrets she had.

Vita I believe your spot on with your take.She is the one responsible for ever putting what she knew into a diary.Once it was confiscated,out of her hands it left those she wrote about vulnerable to black mail. Montana , If Hathaway worked for Disney oh my God ,the stories that her diary might be able to tell.Disney = Pedofile town.My son in law has an in with a big disney honcho due to his job in tv ,he wanted to submit pictures of my grandson ,because he was adorable and could act.Definitely cuter then any boy in the disney shows.But no way ,no how would my daughter allow her nephew who she adores to ever get into that Pedo town ,never over my dead body.Money and fame ain't worth shit when it destroys kids souls.
Anne Hathaway seems right, but why would her diaries have been given back to anyone else? The blind seems to indicate that she is not the blackmailer.
What if the diaries were seized by the government when the ex was raided and then returned to the ex recently? He was deported, but maybe it's still possible? Of course, that's if they did belong to Anne Hathaway.
Definitely sounds a bit like Hathaway's journals that were seized. The Italian crook ex got out of jail last summer so possibly the blackmailer? Which would mean that the director would be someone in the 2000-2007/8 time scale. Beloved by public and wife, which makes me think it's a well known marriage rather than the wife being unknown. Director isn't dead so rules out Demme or G Marshall.
Of course, the only connection to Hathaway is the mention of journals seized previously. If it's someone else then it's anyone's guess and with all the hacking these days then there's probably multiple possibilities. I originally thought J-Law, Sandra Bullock, Gwyneth but had nothing to go on until I read about those journals. Can't really get the director. Can't be many beloved. Tim Burton or someone maybe but he was more a '90s darling than now.
How did the FBI lose them to a blackmailer?? ....aside from that, I thought the director may be Ron Howard? cos it's Spielberg's movies that are beloved and not really him? The actress could be anyone. ha.
@Anna Mouse,the blackmailer could be FBI or someone on her or an ex's legal team. But this will be a case for them,so things will get out. Anne could do this, or the people being blackmailed,but they don't want this info out!

There we go! He could have asked for his personal possessions from the FBI, contents of the raid, and AnnE's diaries were part of that. Too bad she wasn't paying attention there.
