They are really trying not to share any details. Which is strange because usually most dog owners will share general details. At least the kind who would post everywhere about the passing.

As previously mentioned, they probably left them outside and a coyote or two happened by.
I live adjacent to miles of public open space. Coyotes everywhere, occasional bobcats and even a couple of mountain lions. One couple on my street lets their cat roam... drives the rest of us nuts.

That's why we have to start marketing emergency quick-release leashes, no purse dog is worth getting dragged behind a pack of coyotes out for korean food. Poor coyotes probably think the humans are trying to feed them.
Agree Julianne's dogs. My dog who passed in June was also a tricolor Cav, so I got all sucked in emotionally and looking for cause of death. Everyone grieves in their own ways, but I did think it was odd for each of them to provide so much public tribute, without giving some info. I thought about coyotes or wild animal attack, but people could learn from that, or, perhaps, any other kind of accident. I do wonder what happened. For both to die, antifreeze poisoning?
@J - I live in the country and the average life expectancy for an outside cat is about 13 months....they are almost disposable.

Cats look out the window, they want to play outside. But if you keep them indoors they're just fine. Swap a bit of their freedom to give them a couple extra years, sans fleas.
Cats are one of the few animals it seems okay to keep indoors. They are perfectly content lounging around and pretending to be your manager.
I live in a small city. There are large open spaces in the neighborhood, at least for now, developers developing fast with ugly condos. I can see downtown from my street.
Urban wildlife is a thing. I have seen a huge and I mean abnormally huge cat of some kind and what I think was a giant badger type animal. I'm sure there must be coyotes too but they are shy so have never seen one.
Puppy dogs and kitty cats are just prey to them. As someone said above perfectly, they coyotes probably think the humans are feeding them by giving them easy living prey.
I get it though. The dogs want out and you let them out. It would be an awful thing to go through losing your pet and knowing you were responsible.
I live in the country - sticks, really. We have lots of coyotes in our own woods. We hear them every night killing something. We have outdoor cats, and have had outdoor dogs. None have been killed by coyotes.
The husband said it was a coyote attack. That happens where I live occasionally and here’s how it happens:
People build huge homes on mountains. The land has previously been home only to wildlife. They are warned about bobcats, coyotes & such, but they don’t listen. They go to work & leave their pets chained up on a run in the backyard. SO STUPID. The coyotes see a buffet before them & go for the kill. The homeowners then create a neighborhood petition to have all coyotes and bobcats, etc. near their property killed. It makes the news. People are divided. The next day’s news puts this story out of everyone’s mind.
Until it happens again.
Keep your pets inside if this is your living situation! It is thoughtless & animal cruelty to leave them outside with predators lurking nearby! And go f*ck yourself with that petition, you selfish moron!
Obviously, you can tell this really bothers me. It’s like all the parents who leave kids to die in hot cars. Or the parents of young children who don’t put locked fences around their pools. And I’m TIRED OF IT. Needless deaths of innocent children & animals, because of neglect from the parents & owners.
You NEVER leave your little dogs outside unaccompanied here in L.A. Coyotes walk down the street in Hollywood. What a moron.

Where I live we have most of the North American predators. The barnyard animals are very savvy to whats out there including the barn cats. The cats have to watch out for the birds of prey and the fox. I don't worry about the coyote as much as the large dogs and mules keep them away. The wolves however are another story. During the winter when everything is frozen they will run along the river taking down deer. The noise after all these years still makes my blood run cold. It's like Call Of The Wild out there. When their food is scarce they get very brave and move in closer to house and barns. Always carry a gun on my rounds. It's the mountain lions I worry about the most. Your head could be in their mouth before you even know its there. The bear don't bother the stock much, but I seriously hate them as they have torn the screens off the house, knock down bird feeders and dig up the gardens. Its a lot of work, but a wonderful life.
@Lauren, They're not together, not in that sense. Slick Willy was quoted by his mistress as saying his wife had eaten more pu$$y than he ever did. Which may or may not have been a large number depending on his preferences.
@ Brayson, Yes I have heard about that. When I see them together or apart I just picture a dead bear rotting in the sun for a few days. The smell of putrid flesh is horrific. As would be killery making her way toward your crotch, what a nightmare! :)
I think it was something more at fault, like she left them in the car and forgot.
This is reading more like they were directly responsible so I am guessing the dogs got into some edibles or other kind of drugs

We built a completely enclosed "patio" for the cats with runs all the way around, and a condo for napping. We only have one elderly boy left now and he tends to stay in the house but they got a lot of use and it kept them safe from the bears and cougars.

I live in the country and I take care of a colony of feral cats that I tnr'ed back starting in 2006 and 2007. There were 24 at the time. Three originals are left, the oldest is 15 years old! It's pretty amazing, I was told the average span was two years. There are two others who are almost just as old.

how do two pet dogs die on the same day? poison, hot car, coyotes, hit by a car. All preventable. Any other ideas?
