There is one source of money behind this huge Oscar push and it isn't the actress mother of the actress. It is also not the permanent A+ lister who used to sleep with the mother and talked about how he wanted to sleep with both the mom and the actress, presumably separately. It is instead, the actor boyfriend of the actress who has dropped low six figures at this point and all that money is generating a buzz and a bunch of articles and stories that would never get published or air time. Knowing who is financing the buzz also makes it much more likely for there to be more of a PR push as media outlets attempt to curry favor with the actor and show they can kiss butt the best.

ReplyDeleteDoes he really think he's going to get another Oscar the immediate movie after The Revenant? I thought Brad Pitt was so much more entertaining to watch. Leo does the same things over and over and it's hard to go on an emotional journey with his characters because he's so shut down emotionally himself.

I hope he thinks it's worth the money because she's really sunk his public image to new lows (if that's possible), along with all his shady mistakes.

ReplyDeleteHuh, I was thinking about the weird Oscar push by Disney Marvel for the cast of Avengers:Endgame. As fine actors as they are, I'm not sure that movie is what they ultimately want to be recognized for at the Oscar level, not that there's anything wrong with the movie.
