Are You A Celebrity? Ask A Cop

About 11pm last night Richie Sambora got arrested for DUI. I don't understand why he would get arrested for DUI. See, this is the issue I have with repeat DUI offenders. You know you drink. You know you have been arrested for drinking and driving in the past, so if you must drink, stay at home to do your drinking.

Richie Sambora was in rehab twice last year that we know of. He has shown horrible judgment in the past, namely by dating Denise Richards, but also drinking to excess, not being where he should have been, and not being able to stop drinking even though it led to the collapse of his marriage.

Richie was driving a black Hummer so you know that he could have caused some serious damage to lots and lots of people. I doubt anything would have happened to him, but a black Hummer "driving erratically" late at night will scare anyone who is close or sees it coming.

In the passenger seat with Richie was a woman who police stated "was not a celebrity." Are the police arbiters of who is a celebrity and who isn't? Do they have a chart and add up all her points? Guest spot on King of Queens you get a point. An extra on The George Lopez show, lose a point.

We are just going to take the word of the police that she was not a celebrity? What if it was Heather Locklear who was running away from Jack Wagner? Or, maybe it was Denise Richards who didn't know Richie was even drunk because she was too busy worrying about her chapstick.

Of course, the likely explanation is that it was a hooker or some daughter of a record label boss.
I just don't like how the police get to decide if the person is a celebrity and on that determination tell us the name. Thanks to TMZ for the photo.

They need to do something with repeat offenders. There was a recent article about a moron in the suburbs of Chicago who had just been arrested for his seventh DUI. Must we wait until someone is dead before tossing these idiots in jail for a few years?

I agree, Twis. Do the crime, do the time. I don't live in the area anymore, but I'm from IL and read that story, too. When I did live there, I was visiting the local DUI school on a work-related deal and this guy comes in and interrupts me and the counselor to drop off his check for classes or therapy or whatever. After he leaves, the counselor tells me this guy (who looked maybe 35) was on his 13th DUI and was going to the big house for a long time. Had just got out after serving 6 years on a previous DUI. I'm like, HUH? I lived about an hour and a half outside of Chicago -- CABS people, CABS!

As for Richie, man I remember in the "Dead or Alive" video, I could have licked the screen to get close to that piece of hotness...yeah, not so much anymore. Sigh....

having just recently seen bon jovi here in the city of the soul .. they pretty much rocked the house until jon let richie sing "i'll be there for you." he sucked .. his voice was scratchy and he couldnt hit the one really great high note in the song .. seems richie's mom was in the audience and hence, i guess jon felt the need to let him have the spotlight for something other than his personal life and times .. anyway .. i agree, celebrity or not, drunk driving kills .. and more often then not, its not the drunk who dies .. damn, he's rich enough to own the cab company .. but not smart enough to call one .. he is gonna get what he deserves and join his old bandmate alec in the "i used to be in bon jovi" club

I don't agree with ANYONE driving drunk...get a cab or call a friend. That said, celebrities have NO EXCUSE given that they can all afford DRIVERS! If Paris/Lindsey/Richie/whoever knows they are going out to party, then arrange for a freakin' driver to pick you up and cart your sorry, designer-clad butt from club to club.

It gets worse...TMZ is reporting that the other passenger in the car was his daughter, Ava. What a loser. Guess he won't be seeing much of her in the near future.

drunk driving laws need to be tougher for EVERYONE. first offense suspended license and after that serious jail time and no driving again. ever.

It wasn't a celebrity? So, then it still could have been Denise Richards, right?

And now for a really important question to this story, what happened to his eyelashes?

Richie Sambora is facing possible criminal charges for child endangerment. Richie was arrested last night for DUI and his 10-year-old daughter, Ava, was in the car. Ava is Richie's daughter with Heather Locklear. A woman and another minor were also in the car.

i just read this over at dlisted.com and i cant believe any person would ever do this to there child

I thought the Bon Jovi camp told him to clean up or retire, which was why he was in repeat rehab. They are t.i.r.e.d. of his unprofessional, and now dangerous behavior. Wonder if Heather will mandate supervised visits with Ava, I would.

I hope the DA does charge this asshat with everything they can.

I am surprised that the officers did not whip out the vehicle code and go town on this douche.

WTF is wrong with getting a driver or a cab? How hard is that?????

Wow, what ever happened to common sense?????

I am happily middle class and I know I would throw down cash for a cab, car service or call a friend if I were the least bit under the influence. Heck, most of the time I do not drive anymore because of the effects of some of the Rx meds for RA that I take daily.

Is it really that hard to take some personal responsibility?

Sorry for the rant, this just friggin' blows my mind--with the kid in the car???--really????

I'm thinking he drank to excess because of Denise Richards. y/y?

what a fucking dick.

and i'm sorry, but who was the other passenger with the minor child? apart from ava, i mean? what mother would get in a car -- with her child -- driven by a drunk?

great parents.

Yeah, right? unless the mom is a lush, too.

Scary for those kids....

WTF happened to those programs where if you get caught doing something bad in the car, they make you tour the part of the morgue where they keep the accident victims' remains? Hell, I was forced to do that and I wasn't even DUI! I had simply received too many "points" in too short a period of time....that was a good program. had an impact on me, man. I haven't even had a speeding ticket since!

Hmm...it appears he has no facial hair whatsoever! Eyebrows, lashes, and at 11pm, no trace of a 5 o'clock shadow.

OK, the cops released his car to the other adult female who was in the car indentified as his girlfriend, the other minor child was Ava's friend. My question is why wasn't the adult female driving in the first place? It just boggles my mind. Why did you put those kids in the car with him, you had to know what condition he was in, I don't get it.
