I live near a small airport (no control tower) and military base. It's crazy what goes on and more amazing that I can only remember hearing about one accident after all these years.
I love how in the near-miss video, the driver that CAUSED the whole thing (and who was not hit) just drives off. I'd like to believe s/he they pulled up further along the road and was one of the people who ran to the passenger side of the car, but cynicism clouds my belief. Sigh.
I'm 100% convinced the Top Model incident was a publicity stunt.
@jen - I hope not, because if it was, that was a really cruel thing to do to that poor girl (unless she was in on it?!) She handled it with class, but still. My heart ached for her.

@GladysKravitz oh WOW, I didn't notice that until you pointed it out. How awful. Yeah, I somehow doubt that person did anything but drive off and go about his/her day. Sad
And I'm kind of agreeing with the whole publicity stunt theory with Top Model. How do you mistakenly announce the wrong name? And IF you do, how does it go on for that long before you realize it? It smells fishy to me
How can you tell the car drove off? It was out of the camera range.
As for the Model thing, I doubt it was a publicity stunt. I think the female announcer screwed up the names. But whatever, something like this is probably the best thing to happen to the gracious girl who actually did lose. She'll get more press and attention than the actual winner now.
It wasn't her fault - someone handed her a card with the wrong name on it.
