Blind Item #4

The daughter of this A list celebrity doctor is back in rehab. Again. I guess we are supposed to listen to his advice though.

I think it makes sense to be Dr Drew and not Dr Oz for the simple fact I don't think Oz is a dr who specializes in anything that would put you in rehab. Isn't he just on what to eat, how to diet, how to lose weight etc, etc? Since Enty says something about how we are supposed to listen to his advice, makes me think an addiction specialist like Drew. I've raised my eyebrow at him since Celeb rehab which was a total failure.

Yes, if your father's a doctor, you are not allowed to have an eating disorder.

As sanctimonious as I find Dr Drew, ragging on him for his daughter's eating disorder reeks of klass.

Dr. Demento, Doc Gooden, Dock Ellis or Doc Emmrick, or maybe even the Fight Doctor Ferdie Pacheco.

Mental illness doesn't care what your father does for a living.

Another great picture FSP. The blind makes it sound like someone who dispenses advice but Oz talks medical stuff more and DrPhil only has boys.

Wait a second, it's OK to rag on her if she has a drug or alcohol addiction (ie the Willis girls), but not OK if she has an eating disorder? An addiction problem is an addiction problem. What if she had a food compulsion and/or was severely overweight - is that OK to discuss?

For me, the issue is whether or not this girl is a public figure. Has she put herself out there as an actress or celebrity, like the Willis girls, Willo Smith or even Dr. Phil's lunkheaded older son? If she is a public figure, this is no different from discussing substance or sex addiction. If she isn't, why are we discussing her at all?

Dr. Drew has been open about his daughter's struggle with anorexia.

Dr. Dre daughter is NOT a public figure and he never treats people with eating disorders (at least on his show anyways). And people who have eating disorders die more often than people with substance problems....

*Drew NOT Dre lol

Chalk this up to the people you are closest to, don't take your advice. Kids don't listen to their parents

Uhmm. I did not know this statistic. Interesting indeed. 👌

hahaha..I'm a preacher's kid…..most of us are pretty nuts- I blame it on the church, for not allowing kids to be able to make mistakes and to feel they have to always try to be perfect or they will go to hell. Once you realize that it's not so, shit gets crazy.

If I recall, when she was a mid-teen, Dr Drew was doing segments on his daughter. She was into figure skating, but she'd come home from school and make herself mac&cheese or other normal fare for teenage after-school snacking, and he was pointing out how she needed to stop if she wanted to be a healthy athlete, etc.

I hadn't heard she developed eating disorders, but it hardly surprises. Put your kid on TV and call her fat. Great job, Dad.

My dad used to say that only the cobbler's kid goes barefoot.

This is just another reminder that people suffering from substance abuse and/or eating disorders come from all walks of life. Best of luck to this troubled daughter!

I cant find this statistic in my simple online search- hmmm

@Senor - you got that right!

If Dr. Drew didn't want his kid eating junk like mac and cheese...then DON'T FUCKING BUY IT. The kid doesn't do the grocery shopping and doesn't pay for the food, so buy healthy food and you'll have less of a problem. Don't stuff the house full of crap then nag the kid about eating the food! If you never feed the kids junk then they won't want it all that much. I don't have a problem with telling kids that soda, candy, etc will make you fat and unhealthy because it's true, but don't sit there and buy and eat it nonstop. It's not rocket science and if you don't eat it or feed it to your kids, they won't develop a taste for it.

I think this article sums up what Enty was going for.

Doc Ock?

The reason the daughter is in rehab HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT KIND OF MEDICINE THE DAD PRACTICES.

SaintsFan said...

You're right, megly. However it is enty's "we're supposed to listen to him" that is a clue.

Amen Sherry!
Actually I wasn't a whore unless hickies and groping count. But I was the biggest class clown and pain in the bum. And yes, my dad was a pastor.

And I did find the few cops kids I knew all used drugs and were reprobates (my friends!)

Ba ha ha @ Ray!

Agree Jess!

Dr. Drew has always been a control freak. It's why his brand of rehab has never worked. Also, his need for the perfect physique is fairly obvious and his prejudice for good looking people as well. His wife is a former beauty queen. The head counselor at his rehab is a former model. Drew likes to surround himself with typical Californian body nazis, who constantly compliment each other on their superior lifestyle.

No wonder he ended up with a daughter with EDs. Fat chance that Dr. Drew or his wife will ever admit their complicity in the pathology their daughter inherited.

Unknown said...

Actually, many young women who suffer from anorexia, anorexia-bulimia, tend to be high achievers with parents who are well educated, professional and prominent people. This is just a group who tend to be over represented in studies. I have worked with people who have ED's from all sorts of varying backgrounds.
I think Enty is being judgey about this though if ut us whom you are all referring to.

Agree with dex and trish.

auntliddy said...

Saints-to be fair, the sucess rate for all rehab very very low, but right now its all we have.

SaintsFan said...

auntliddy, I understand that but putting celebs who are delicate to begin with on tv to hash out their addiction problems was absurd. Yes, I watched but it was like watching a train wreck. It was more a tv show than real help I believe. I wish they all chose to get private help. Especially Rodney King. He was my absolute favorite :(

Regardless of what Dr. Drew's daughter suffers from, this blind isn't her. She's been doing twitter updates nonstop.

If this were Dr. Dre, would the daughter have a hearing disorder?
