I thought the long break referred to drinking. She and alcohol "were on a break" then got back together.
To be fair, I don't know if PP was on a long break from the drink, but she appears to be unstable.
Now Brett Butler, that's a mess right there. But did ahe walk away from a hit? She was fired from Grace Under Fire back in the day.
Maybe you are right and the break refers to from drinking. I thought it was from acting/shows.
If so, leaning towards PP then, though I am not really convinced she walked away entirely of her own choice. Probably more of an opportunity to let her leave gracefully. Maybe even some financial incentive to do so to avoid the fan base getting upset with the show.
