Tom Cruise Takes A Shot At Women

As much as I really don't like many of the things Tom Cruise stands for, I will say this about him. He will go to any length to promote a film he is in. I think this is especially true for Valkyrie because it is his own company that is producing it. It seems like if you have a camera or an audience of more than about five than Tom Cruise will come on over and talk to you for as long as you want. The only thing he won't talk about is Scientology. Oh or Katie getting pregnant. In fact this morning when asked about having another baby with Katie, the only reply Tom gave was, "I think that's the question for the women."

Ouch Tom. That is pretty damn chauvinistic. Apparently all of the women who watch the Today show are only interested in whether Tom is trying to get Katie pregnant again. Therefore, for all the women reading this post, you may want to stop here. Tom has addressed "your" question and all of the remaining portions of his interview and the post I guess are not for women? WTF Tom. Yeah, now you know what it is probably like at his house. Does he really think women only care about whether Katie is pregnant? Obviously you don't care about his film or what he has to say about his behavior last time. I guess that is men's work and you shouldn't worry about anything like that. Now go back in the kitchen and fix him a chicken pot pie.

All the reports of the interview just kind of gloss right over that quote. I think it is the most telling because basically the rest of it was pre-planned. He knew he would be asked about what happened the last time he was on the show so he came prepared with a mea culpa and a half assed excuse about how he was tired from promoting War Of The Worlds. So, the only time he got a question he wasn't prepared for, he basically called out all women. Nice. Now I'm sure he would just say it came out wrong or whatever, but the fact is he said it.

Or did he mean that it was up to a woman whether or not she has another baby?

I just took that to kind of mean "It's up to Katie if she wants to put her body through it again-ball's in her court." But yeah, it is somewhat chauvinistic. My panties aren't tied in a bunch though.

Scary thing is, he probably thought he was being caring and sensitive.....oy vay!

I was more scared by him roaming around the set earlier in the broadcast. It was so awkward and creepy.

My guess is that he meant that it's up to Katie to decide. He even says something along those lines to Matt. Or, maybe he meant, it's up to Katie to decide whether to get pregnant on her own again. (I bet her and Patrick Wilson would make a great sperm donor. Get on that, Katie!)

As a woman and a mother, I really don't find this offensive. I think he just spoke sloppily - I don't hear any evil undertones.

Question is...can Kat(i)e get Tom pregnant?

I read either last week or the week before taht Valkyrie was bad. People were laughing at some of the scenes that were suppose to be serious not laughable.

All I can say is that no matter what type of movie Gay Cruise comes out it will not make the money he wants.

I am with all of you that said he meant it is up to the woman (i.e. KatE)whether or not they would have another baby. He is fine either way, and letting his wife decide whether she wants another baby or not.

I am pretty critical of Tom C., but this is one positive argument for him. He didn't get all up in KatE's womb.

Now the question of whether or not he is able to make he pregnant is another issue...

:x and you just picked this reference off yet-another article on his Today appearance. Cruise said something along the lines of "it's Katie's choice" a few months back as well but the media didn't play it up because there was nothing to spin...he just phrased it horribly this time around.

Oh well, we all already know he's awkward without a script or a definite agenda to push. He seems to be floundering in interviews lately in comparison to previous years where he was like an excitable chipmunk on a sugar-high.

I'm with you Enty; there was no need for him to bring gender into his response at all. I suppose it could be a source of aggravation, but then again, I don't give a shit about tommy girl or any of the insane drivel that he spews forth, so no harm no foul.

It just dawned on me that he probably meant KatE AND Suri, since children are considered adults in SciTown. As in, the two of them can decide if they want a sibling for Suri.

//can't stand him.
///will never see another movies he's in. Well, except Tropic Thunder, cuz it has RDJ in it. Only if he's standing beside RDJ, THEN I'll see it.

The clips I've seen of Valkyrie look like they went back and edited in Tom's new face. I wonder if they edited out his old girdled stomach.

Unless he wants to spill the name of his surgeon, I don't care what useless crap he says.

I do find it irritating that while promoting Spielberg's film, he was mouthy, arrogant, and obnoxious.

Now that it's "his" film and his company, he behaves very differently.

So I have to agree with ENT on this one.

I'm pretty sure he meant that it's up to Katie (aka "the woman) based on his interview a week or two ago with Barbara WaWa where she asked him about having another child and he said she would have to ask Katie because it's up to her.

OK, a few things.
Firstly it's not AY-dolf, it's Add-olf.
B) He don't really do humble too well does he, you can tell it's a struggle.
3) Of course it's Katie's decision, she has to approve the sperm donor,
Lastly, is it kind to keep all those women in that goldfish bowl? Let them out! In the name of Xenu!

Oh, come ON. Give the dude a BREAK. I'm not excusing his cult, or the way he imprisons his wife, or Eyes Wide Shut, or his laugh, because all of those things are horrible, but I REALLY think he meant that it's up to Katie, since she's the one who'd be bearing the child.

I'm sort of bored with disliking Tom Cruise, to be honest.

Of course he's leaving it up to Katie to get pregnant again - the closest he's ever been (or ever will be) to her womb is during photo ops! Gay Midget Dwarf dropped the ball on this one...

As much as I dislike Cruise, I don't see anything chauvinistic about what he said, but then again I'm not one of those oversensitive PC people who gets offended by every single word that ever comes out of someone's mouth. Seriously, if we keep nitpicking over everything that people say, then everyone's just going to stop talking, because they'll be too scared of offending someone. And to me the worst kind of hell would be a world where everyone is phony, PC and nothing but a parrot, repeating back the "acceptable" viewpoints.

But maybe that's just me....I'd rather have a genuine asshole who forms their own opinions, even if they are unpopular and "offensive", than the nicest, most bland and unoffensive politically correct shell of a human being.

This is the ONLY time I will say anything nice about Cruise..it's clear he meant it's the woman's choice, not his..good for him.

I abhor Tom Cruise and his CO$, but I took it to mean it's up to the woman in the relationship as to having more kids. Personally I find it somewhat advanced thinking. That is, if it was meant the way I'm taking it.

i agree with all of you that he meant it was katie's choice to get pregnant again, but i just dont think that that's right! for any couple, not just them.
i know the woman is the one that carries the baby and blah, blah but the man is the father and so, for me, bringing a person into the world has to be a decision well thought of by both parents!
