What a great loss. Lady T sang of Love. In Mind, Body, Soul and Spirit. Love. Love. Love. She was light personified. She was doing the Prince thing (writing all her own songs, playing all her own instruments and singing all her own backgrounds vocals) before Prince hit the scene. She changed the music business by implimenting mandates that gave other artists a “way out”. She was truly a pioneer, as anyone who’s ever listened to an entire “album” could tell you. Always a creative blend of different styles. She will be tremendously missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

I was shocked when I read about Teena Marie yesterday. I heard her sing LIVE on an old school Los Angeles radion station and she sounded great. I can still remember watching her on Soul Train.
RIP Lady T. Truly talented woman.

I loved Teena Marie in the 80s. She was a role model to girl singer/musicians back then.
Teena Marie is one of a handful of popular singers from the 80s who sounded better in person than they did on their records. She will be missed.

I am embarrassed to say I'd never heard of Teena Marie until the news broke. I'll have to Google her stuff, when I get out of in law land.
