Rupert Everett Tries To Trash Jennifer Aniston & Colin Firth

I think at this point, Rupert Everett is just a tired worn out actor who everyone is just wishing would go away. It seems that his main occupation lately is whining about how life is unfair and how he should be given every role he ever wants. So, to make himself feel better he likes to trash other actors and actresses. In an interview with BBC4, which I think is like ESPN64.com for mobile applications if you live in Guam or one of the outlying Pacific Islands, Rupert says he does not understand how Jennifer Aniston even has a career considering how bad she is and how poorly her films do.

"OK, something will go wrong, like Jennifer Aniston will have one too many total flops, but she's still a member of that club, and she will still manage to…like a star forming in the universe, things will swirl around her and it will suddenly solidify into another vital tasteless romcom, you know, a little glitter next to the Crab Nebula."

He also does not understand how Colin Firth managed to keep his career intact after starring in Mamma Mia. I think everyone gave the actors involved in that a pass.

Yeah,Yeah, yeah...luck, connections and your own production company help a lot...and for Colin Firth add talent...

He can trash Jennifer all he wants, but those guys in Mamma Mia were awesome. Rupert is just pissed that he wasn't chosen to sing off-key and dance around a beautiful island. Maybe Pierce Brosnan couldn't sing but by God he gave it all he had.

I read Rupert's book and while it had its moments (Sharon Stone is batshit crazy, SCANDAL!), Enty you're right he is a whiner who needs to go away.

Thought they were all amazing in Mamma Mia, made be love Colin just that little bit more.

Used to quite like Rupert but I'm so over him now!

No doubt Rupert wanted Colin's role in Mamma Mia. Can't wait to see The King's Speech.

How'd that line go again... oh yeah..
"Bitter, party of one, your table is right this way"

Watch. He'll end up as some sort of a Hedda Hopper clone - another Ted Casablanca, if you will.
We can all relive the Hedda Hopper and Luella Parsons gossip wars.
I'll make popcorn.

And as to Jen, when you make a silly romcom for 20 Million and it makes 40 Million at the box office and who knows how much more in TV and DVD, and you occasionally hit one out of the ballpark like Marley and Me or The Breakup, then you're going to get more parts. She's not the box office poison that Rupert makes her out to be. Not that I'm a fan, but facts are facts.

So says the man who starred in "The Next Best Thing", one of the worst movies ever made. *rollseyes*

Hahaha Jennifer, I was going to say the same thing *LOL*. It wasn't exactly Oscar material now, was it.

I happened to LOVE Mamma Mia. Does that mean I have poor taste in movies? Oh well, I still love it.

The word 'rupert' is going to become a verb, meaning to trash or vomit. Example: "He ruperted all over my Manolo's!"

"Urk...had to much to drink {gag}...gotta go rupert."

I'm a poor nobody so I feel justified in ragging on rich, self-entitled celebs. It warms the stone-cold cockles of my heart just a little bit. However, if I were in the public eye the last thing I would do would be to snark on another celeb or let my jealousy show. I'd walk around pretending that I was Julie Fucking Andrews and that everything was sweetness and light in my world. It's called "acting", Rupert.

I like Colin Firth.
Jennifer Aniston? Overrated!

Mamma Mia? Never watched it, so I can't comment.

I like Rupert

He is just bitter he isn't Madonna's best gay anymore.

He seems like a real party to work with.

I hear what he's saying though. I like the guy.

BBC4 is one of the BBC channels - pretty mainstream and highbrow usually, so how the hell Rupes got interviewed on that is a mystery. No one with his limited talent or choice of plastic surgery should criticise others. Maybe being out as gay hasn't helped him, but being out as a arsey, bitter queen and wannabe can't have helped either.

Also, he once kissed my brother (who announced it at a family dinner) - I wish I'd asked him whether he was any good.

Tenley said...

Me too, Tempestuous Grape. And Jennifer Aniston? Man, I want to see a movie about all the aspiring filmmakers at the moment they learn she's cast as the lead in their movie and it's doomed to become another Aniston stinker. How many careers has she destroyed? Not including her own, of course.

How Rupert Everett got to star in The Importance of Being Earnest with Colin First, after making that doggo with Madonna, The Next Best Thing, is what I do not understand. One of the few movies I actually found unwatchable.

Colin First needed a paycheck and did a fun project with a lot of other very good actors. I don't think he had any pretensions about his singing ability!

Jackie said...

Don't be dissing Colin Firth, Rupert. You don't have an ounce of his talent.

As for Jen, she brings in money and attention to whatever project she does, even if it's a terrible romcom. That's why she gets hired.

But nobody wants a self-entitled queen on their set.

Selock said...

So sad...he was so great in the Madness of King George. What happened that made him so bitter and unemployable?

shakey said...

Moonmaid, I don't think *any* of them had any pretensions about their singing ability. I seem to recall when Pierce bellowed out his song, he and others around him truly looked as if they were all about to burst into laughter.

Rupert, stop acting like a spoiled little girl who didn't get her way. Honey attracts more bees.

wow...was he always a little bitch or is he bitter now that he isn't on anyone's radar?

This is HYSTERICAL!

Rupert is a tired, sad old queen who ruined his looks by getting some Kenny Rogers plastic surgery. He's jealous!

Selock said...

Oh! I forgot he had that awful plastic surgery...ugh, what a huge mistake. :-/

Patty said...

He has been a whiner lately, but he is spot-on about Jennifer. Wouldn't it be nice to see someone get her roles who can do more than one character?

Steph said...

To me it just sounds like he is saying what you, Enty, have been saying about Jen Aniston, except he can reach a larger audience, so why the hate (in this instance)? FYI - I'm not a fan of either really, just curious.

kathrynnova said...

ignoring colin's obvious enormous talent for acting - sure, he was in a bubble-gum film. so what? it is certainly better than 'my best friend's wedding'. oh, and wasn't that a deplorable romcom?

my, my rupert. you sure do sound jealous.

but i also cannot disagree with him about jen aniston. but i also just ignore her movies. it's pretty easy to do.

nancer said...

shit, even meryl streep makes 'throwaway' movies now and then. if you're big enough, you can get away with it, and i'd say colin firth is big enough.

i don't care one way or the other about this guy but i second what he says about aniston. she'd better make all the horrid movies she can and fast. yes, jennifer, even YOU are getting too old for these roles.

oh, and she's a shitty actress.

ardleigh said...

Dear Rupert,

Once again you have cut off your nose to spite your face. Which I must say, your new face does you no favors, dear.

Did you not understand that Jen could help find you a job? Need I remind YOU one of your (cough) acting (cough)roles was voice work in the Wild Thornberrys movie? Yeah that's a stellar role! Oscar worthy I am sure. Maybe the money you made from it went to buy you a lovely glass house?

Thank you,

Me

P.S. Thank Heaven, you did not comment on Pierce's role in Mama Mia. If you had I'd have to find you and bitch slap you.

Rupert, you make me sad.

I think he can be a clever and funny writer and entertaining on screen. But the plastic surgery was a very bad move and the bitterness now is worse.

I hated Mamma Mia! too. But some people liked it. And Colin Firth? You are going to question why he should get parts after it? In a year when he will likely be nominated for an Oscar following a year when he was nominated for an Oscar? Does Rupert think he could have touched the level of acting Colin did in A Single Man or The Kings Speech? Come on.

As for Jennifer, she has her own production company. Try that for yourself Rupert. Some of her movies are level 10 awful like The Bounty Hunter, but some are not so bad and if they make money, a lot of actors would happily do the same thing. Aniston seems to be living a pretty good life so points for that.

Rupert needs to stop it, maybe write more or do some indie films. He certainly will not win parts this way.

Basil said...

I read Ruperts book, and he pretty much thinks that if he wasn't an openly gay actor he would have gotten the roles that went to Hugh Grant, and now Colin Firth. Interestingly enough, hasn't Colin Firth gone on record as saying he didn't think gay actors should come out when he was doing press for A Single Man? I think he actually has a right to be bitter, since it is probably true sadly. But he should keep quiet about it and save it for his next book.

For me, the shocker is that whenever Rupert makes these bitchy comments, people talk about them as if he matters.

Mooshki said...

'Mamma Mia' was a fun, silly romp. 'Next Best Thing' was a crime against humanity.

shiny_special_one said...

Somehow I missed this earlier today. Now I'm sorry I read it because I used to like Rupert Everett, and I've been trying not to notice how lately he's become the quintessential bitter queen. The plastic surgery's a disaster as well.

shiny_special_one said...

Sorry, that should have read, "the quintessential OLD, bitter queen."

I **LOVE** Mamma Mia. I think I'ma put it on right now.

And Rupert is a whiny lil' bitch. He needs to shut it.

ChasingHeaven said...

But...he's right. About Jennifer Aniston, I mean.

K said...

Yes but Ent, did you listen to the whole interview? Or just pick up the 'juicy' parts from eonline?

I did hear the interview in it's whole, and Rupert was very funny, and yes, bitter. But he's such a funny old queen, I have to forgive him. He has no axe to grind with Colin Firth whatsoever, but as Basil metioned, he does bemoan, quite rightly, the fact that his coming out has seriously impeded the roles that he should have got, so that he is left to play a drag character in St Trinians (which I think he enjoys far too much but won't let on!)

Mamma Mia was bubblegum - perhaps the comparison would make more sense when you see Tommy Lee Jones in money making bubblegum films, so that he can get 'serious' films financed and made at other times. Rupert doesn't even have that option, does he?#

But he's totally right about Aniston.

Basil said...

Thanks K. Rupert can be very witty and funny, but if you take what he says out of context, he can come off as bitter. And I think My Best Friend's Wedding was probably the worst thing that could have happened to him. He was on the cusp of making it big in Hollywood, Hugh Grant style, but because he was gay no one really wanted to touch him.

Sian said...

The guy does still do stuff... he's one of the main roles in the (awful) st. trinians series, which consequently stars Mr Firth.

B626 said...

yup the ick on him from being madonna's buddy never has come off

MCH said...

I could think of about a 10 other actresses he could have ragged on before Aniston.

And Colin Firth?? Really???? Who cares if he did Mamma Mia and it was a little ridic (I still loved it). That movie grossed $144,130,063.

Quit whining, Rupert!
