Blind Item #13 - Lady Loves Part Three - A Reader Blind Item

My buddy had some very good connections throughout the L.A. music scene, including at this Legendary Sunset Strip venue – one of the most storied clubs in America if not the world.  He had heard a few days prior that this Legendary rock band with a pair of brothers was going to be putting on another “secret” show there that Wednesday – though hopefully it wouldn’t end up like the previous one.  As both of us were YUUUUUUUUGE fans of the group, he made sure to arrange that we could get in.  I told him to do whatever it takes to make sure Washington could get in too, as she was also a big fan.  I wanted to surprise her that day to try to kickstart her heart through the grieving process and get her out of her funk.  My buddy said he’d try but no promises, to which I responded not good enough, make it happen…OR ELSE! (No, not that last bit...I was firm but polite...and begged him to please help me make that magic happen).

Now the only thing left to do was to arrange for her to go out with me that night for a surprise “date”.  She didn’t want to go out at first, but I convinced her to just meet me for a couple of hours at a Spring Break house party another of our friends was throwing while his parents were out of town.  I got there in the late afternoon, and her gal pals brought her over shortly thereafter.  When I first saw her at the party, my heart skipped a beat.  Even after days of being down and inconsolable, crying all the time, and not giving a shit about her appearance, even as a shadow of her previous self as she was at that time, she was radiant.  Absolutely stunning.  Gorgeous.  Like magic (there are no coincidences ), one of my favorite 80’s love songs began playing in the background…a song that will always remind me of that moment: The Outfield – Your Love.  We went outside to a quieter, more private spot to talk, and she was still feeling down…I didn’t blame her, but the hopeless romantic in me ached at the sight and thought of her suffering.

Could inxs be the band?

@bonestructure Came to say this. In fact it says something like 25 years almost to the day. So spring 1993. Should narrow down bands considerably

Definitely Van Halen at Whiskey-a-Go-Go

Washington could be Ione Skye, 1986 grad of Hollywood High.

The Mentors had some great love songs too.

Sorry, but I find this very long blind from a reader uninteresting, self-indulgent, and boring. Ent Lawyer, no more reader blinds, please.

Jesus wept...what a big bore. All of the bands hung out on the strip in the 80s and after a show, they'd be at The Brainblo (I hung out with David Lee Roth) for pizza or at On the Rocks for VIP. Early eighties (specifically 1982) the Viper Room was The Central and one night at our table was Deniro, Robin Williams and John Belushi who also jammed on the drums and died a week later across the street at Marmont. It's all well known so why the boring BS blinds. Just tell the damn story

Oh, quit yer bitching. It's nice to have a change of pace & hear from the readers.
I'd tell my "approx 20-30 encounters w/very famous people," but most of them are just my snarky opinions of how they looked/behaved/responded/etc., and my personal judgment of them.
I do have a couple of brief stories that might be interesting. I did witness *UP CLOSE* an event in the 90s that has always been alluded to, or gossiped about occurring with a 90s-early 00s era A-A+ list actress.
I had a couple of non-celebrity type interactions with celebrities, just them being regular old people, nice and pleasant little vignettes of time.
BUT, I had one encounter with an at the time, A+ British rocker (commercially successful 1st band, more so in EU, than US, commercially successful worldwide 2nd band), who was just the pervy asshole you'd expect him to be, if you knew who he was. When I encountered him and his bandmates in a small diner in the middle of GA, I stared hard, because these guys looked WEIRD for small town 80s GA.
I had no clue who they were. (Side note- this event predates by a couple of yrs their mega success and known by everyone in the 80s) When my friend who was a hairstylist joined me, they gave her the same overly flirty treatment, and continued to hit on us throughout lunch. We were 20 & 21, at the time, btw.
As we got up to pay, they coerced us to come over by asking us did we really not know who they were, why were we being so snobbish, did we not like their music, blah, blah.
Well, we were so naive and also so polite, we went over & talked with them.
Within a minute or so of us standing there, lead singer had pulled me onto his lap, guitarist had done the same to my friend.
They were *NOT* pleasant about any rebuffing, wrestling with us, in broad daylight practically, cursing a blue streak, (first time, but not the last, that I'd ever been called a c*nt!), and lead singer ended up slapping me across the face.
To this day, I wish I would've had him arrested, or maybe stabbed him, just a little, w/one of the serrated knives that
was on the table. 😈
Now, you've got to understand-we weren't physically harmed, we both were just a combo of angry, embarassed, and...kind of humiliated.
We were just hoped no one saw us & started spread nasty gossip or some such. This was the Bible Belt, after all.
Thankfully, no one did, the story died only to be revived today.
Anyway, if anyone wants to try and tackle that morass, the lead singer was once married to a flash in the pan American actress, and some iteration of his band has reformed, put out new music in the last few yrs, with more expected in 2018, and is currently touring, playing songs from the lead singer's 1st group, as well.

I also had a couple of extremely brief encounters with the lead singer from a band mentioned in one of the latest Dancing Boy blinds.
When his band was just starting to get big in this local college town, we would go to hear them, (& a number of other alternative late 80s-90s bands that famously came from this small area), play.
It was well known that the local musicians were all dead broke, so all of us young fan girls would bring some of our fast food wages to the college town & hang out in the certain places the up & comers hung out, so we could offer to buy them meals, endless coffees, etc., for a chance to hang out with them or even just a quick autograph, if they were semi-famous.
Our WORLD FAMOUS lead singer from the dancing boy blind was fed a number of meals by yours truly, as well as cups of Joe.
Not only would he never sign anything for me, he never would take a pic w/me, and he'd rarely ever say thanks. It was always mumbled at you, and he wouldn't even look you in the eyes. When I was just a young kid, I would put up w/BS like that from someone like him. Now, I wouldn't care if he died in a fire.
